Reviews for Marquis Los Cabos

Not delicious and not accessible nice pool though and great staff at the pool, especially Arturo

We came on 27 December and left on January 2. We are family of four with two adult children. The rooms were spacious and clean. However, the bathroom floor with any drips of water became dangerously slippery and it was difficult to get hot water on the fifth floor where our two rooms were. They need to make the bathroom be much more safe and accessible. They did not provide enough towels, so we had to use body towels to ensure that one of us didn’t slip and fall. One of us is disabled. The views were beautiful with the ocean front view! The staff for room service were lovely and all were named Jonathan for some reason…. However, information was always lost in communication from ordering food from room service to its delivery. Something was always missing or not prepared properly. We usually ordered room service for breakfast and got to know the staff and knew what people would forget and then when we reminded them to have that one thing they would forget something else. By the end, they got it right after we had tipped heavily each time, but we diminished our tips when Service wasn’t improving. Make sure you communicate with housekeeping! Make sure that you put it in writing they give you a form to do so or call someone at the desk who is English speaking. Because we would leave to go to the pool in the morning and not come back until late afternoon, and our room still wasn’t serviced. Despite the fact that we didn’t leave the hanging decoration on the door to indicate do not disturb it was not serviced. It’s sort of uncomfortable when you have to go sit on the balcony and someone’s just right behind the door cleaning up. Since it’s an inclusive resort, food portions are small order what you want in order what you need. We have bodybuilding family members who we eat a lot of food so many times at the restaurants one entrée was not enough. Further regarding restaurants, if you are disabled do not plan on ever having a quiet breakfast alone if you need assistance, carrying your plate through the buffet and to your table. People are not interested in helping you. And when you walk up with your cane or your walker as I did, you will see that they are disappointed that you’re there because you’re in their way. It was a horrible experience. The first time I called to BALLENAS for the breakfast buffet and asked if someone could help me and they told me, “no it’s best that you stay in your room.“ I didn’t pay $2000 a night per room for them to treat me so poorly and if they were guested in my home or wherever I work, I would treat them in the way they needed to be treated and it was a small assistance I was looking for. Major thumbs down in terms of accessibility. On the subject of accessibility. If you have challenges with walking, there are restaurants at least two of them that you cannot go to at the resort. This is entirely and horrifically, disappointing, and wherever you search, you will not really see where the accessibility falls off so I’ll tell you. You cannot go to BALLENAS for any buffet driven meals. That means breakfast there is no à la cart for breakfast. You can also not go to the sushi restaurant or hibachi table if you cannot do stairs or if you’re lucky enough and someone is kind enough, there’s a secret elevator. They will allow people to take but believe me, no one will tell you that until they see you struggling or even at the front desk when you come walking in with a walker, wheelchair or Kane. So be prepared. There are ramps to get to different parts of the pool. There is a ramp to go down into the spa or the jim area if you are able to use the gym. So you can get around the resort to stretch those legs and not to be seated, etc. The spa has some incredible staff however, the dressing room is not ADA accessible and all of the furniture. There is way too low to sit on and the tables they have are too high to sit at if they give you hot tea afterward we spilled it all over ourselves. We have been coming to Cabo for over 20 years and this is the first time we stayed at this resort. Unfortunately, it will not be a first pick next time we go. The food needs reimagining. All of the local and authentic dishes taste fairly good. However, we have never seen such over fried and over processed eggs. They don’t have enough healthy options and a lot of the fruit that they send for fruit plates and accompaniment is not good. This is Mexico isn’t it? Does all the good fruit leave the country? Very few berries if you’re somebody who requires them. Make sure to ask for exactly what you want. They will ask you everywhere you go if you have food allergies. State them and be clear. We had some issues with that. Nothing anaphylactic, but definitely digestive. It is not a quiet resort and quite noisy, especially at holiday time. On the note of holiday time we were there for New Year’s Eve. They had a themed event, vintage circus, and there was an entire sound stage and light grid set up. There was all types of performance, and it was quite charming. In addition, the decorations were lovely. There was so much steaming and love put into the design of the event. Generally speaking, you had to be a guest of the resort by invitation and maybe there were people there from other places. 10 people per round table with cloth and it was a nice opportunity to meet other guests if you social which we were and continue to be. As you might guess the food looked beautiful and tasted atrocious. You just can’t feed that many people and do a good job. A big plate of beautiful things for a salad with the cheapest most atrocious still frozen fish was served. And lo and behold the next. As you might guess the food looked beautiful and tasted atrocious. You just can’t feed that many people and do a good job. A big plate of beautiful things for a salad with the cheapest most atrocious still frozen fish was served. And low and behold the next course was a fish course and also was frozen and terrible tasting. Then there was a good roasted probably brisket course no one tells you what the food is, but there was so much fat on the very small portion that I had it was in edible. We already huddled in my family and said we’re gonna leave before midnight and go order a room service before everyone else does. The dessert was an entréme that was a box of circus popcorn that was deceptive in a good way. The box was crafted out of red and white chocolate and inside was ice cream and cake and other delicious things and popcorn greasy salty popcorn was the topper. It was a beautiful display and unfortunately terrible and no one ate it at our table. Even the people we didn’t know. They are very generous with wine if you drink. The Day crew put on a Parisian MIME costume and face makeup. My favorite pool staff were there and everyone hugged and said hello to me. The pool staff are really, really attentive and good! Especially Arturo! Tip them put money in their pocket they’re working hard for you. People from the audience got up and danced on the stage and we exited back to our room for a room service and countdown. And then in our jammies, we went out and balcony and watched the fireworks that the property provides. It was a satisfying New Year’s. We don’t expect perfection New Year’s Day was super mellow. Room service was probably had by most. It was our last day and we ate at PERGOLA they serve an Italian menu and the staff is very lovely and attentive there. Many of them work at the pool as well. The transport company doesn’t outstanding job though if you are disabled, make sure you make it clear when you have a reservation cause I almost couldn’t get into the vehicle. They picked us up in. All in all, there are a huge catalog of additional fun things that families can do for our family. It really included a small tour of Cabo. They did a tequila tasting and went to a blanket, making factory. Also, the resort helped arrange for some golf lessons and golfing for the new golfers in our family. I failed to mention on New Year’s day during the evening. There was a power out. It actually turned out to be a good thing for us because we all went on the balcony and watched the incoming super moon. Also, there were so many stars due to no light pollution. Keep your phones charged though while you’re there because if the power goes out, you may need to check in for your flight. It was a lasting memory and we did have fun but the issues with accessibility and food. Kind of put a little shadow over the vacation, especially when you’re spending 2K per room a night for five or six nights. If you’re reading this far, you should know that accessibility really matters. I was an athlete and a dancer and something happened and I lost the use of my hands in feet. I am making my way back and can actually walk now and use my hands, however I still depend on accessibility as many. Do you never know what life might do to you and then you will regret your insensitivity to those who require accessibility and how all of these buildings and or resorts feel like they don’t have to roll with the times and change things cause clearly they don’t wanna spend the money on improving their infrastructure. I met a lovely family at the pool. The girlfriend is studying nano biology and trying to cure cancer without wiping out peoples bodies, and the boyfriend of the family is studying architecture and he was talking about. He needed an innovation for his thesis to show an innovation he wanted to create, and after talking about accessibility issues with them, he became inspired and spent a day being a watchdog to see accessibility failures at the resort. He found me on New Year’s Eve and he told me he agreed with me. We chose this resort because it said it was the most accessible and if that’s the case, we’ll be looking somewhere other than Cabo for the next 20 years.

Stellar Experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 12 hours ago

We stayed at Marquis Los Cabos for a business trip for three days in early January, and it was a stellar experience. The entire staff are very friendly, polite and helpful, and they made us feel welcome. The room was clean and extremely comfortable, and the turn down service in the evening (complete with a bathroom touch up and bedside slippers) was a special touch. Everything from the restaurants to the bars to the pool areas and poolside food exceeded our expectations. Grounds are very well maintained, and the oceanfront location can't be beat. We had an amazing stay.

Highly recommend this resort!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

My friend and I came here for a girls’ trip and truly loved our stay. The resort is even more beautiful than the photos and has a calm, peaceful atmosphere. We loved that it was right on the beach, and has amazing sunrise views outside of each room and by the rocks. Its relatively smaller size makes it very easy to get around the resort, which we really appreciated. The vibe is definitely geared toward couples and guests in their late 20s and up. This is not a party resort at all, which was exactly what we were looking for. We also felt very safe throughout our stay. The staff were incredibly warm and attentive, and the service was excellent. They even remembered our names! A special thank you to Marcos, Ana, the greeter at the breakfast restaurant, the server at the Sakke restaurant, and the gentleman at the omelette station, who all made our experience feel personal and welcoming. The room cleaning staff were also wonderful. Very friendly and went above and beyond to make sure our room was comfortable. We appreciated having access to a tennis/pickleball court. While the nets could be better maintained, we still had a great time using the facilities. The New Year’s Eve show was especially memorable, and we would definitely recommend staying at the resort over NYE to experience it. As a vegetarian, I know it can be challenging to find good options at all-inclusive resorts. Overall, this resort did a decent job accommodating vegetarian diets, though I would have appreciated more variety and higher-quality vegetarian options, especially when it came to vegetarian tacos and the buffet during the shows. Overall, I would highly recommend this resort and would happily return.

Serious Safety Breach & Not a 5-Star Experience — Proceed with Caution

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Serious Safety Breach & Not a 5-Star Experience — Proceed with Caution I am sharing this review so other travellers — particularly women — can make an informed decision. Within six hours of arriving, we experienced a serious security breach. While we were out, our room was accessed and left unsecured, with the deadbolt engaged from the inside when we returned. Inside the room were passports, cash, and personal belongings. As two women travelling alone, this was deeply distressing. What followed made matters worse: We were given multiple contradictory explanations over several interactions There was no immediate senior management involvement, despite assurances No clear, written explanation was ever provided confirming who accessed the room, when, or why Responsibility was subtly shifted back to us (suggestions to use the safe / Do Not Disturb), rather than addressing the failure Because of this, our first two days were completely impacted, including loss of sleep and ongoing anxiety. Safety is the most basic expectation of any hotel — especially one positioning itself as a luxury, adults-only resort. Beyond safety, there were numerous operational issues: Reservation chaos: Prior to arrival, we were told all dining had been reserved. On arrival, nothing appeared in the app and we had to rebook everything. The app also showed incorrect information, including dinners scheduled on nights they weren’t even operating — something we only discovered by speaking with staff in person. Food quality: For an adults-only “five-star” property, the food quality was extremely disappointing. Pool experience: There were no quiet areas at the pool. Music was blaring from around 10am onward, every day. This is not what many adults expect from a luxury resort. Understaffing: There were not enough staff to service guests. Wait times for drinks or food regularly reached 30–45 minutes, which is unacceptable at this price point. Billing issues: We were given a $75 room credit, but it applied to a very limited number of items. Even then, it was not removed at checkout, and it took over 30 minutes (while our driver waited) for staff to resolve it with management. Overall, this was not a five-star luxury experience. Between the safety breach, poor communication, staffing shortages, food quality, and billing issues, the property does not meet the standard it markets or charges for. I would strongly encourage travellers to factor these issues into their decision.
