When my wife and I arrived to the Marquis Los Cabo Resort, the receptionist Fernanda offered us the option to upgrade to an oceanfront casita for an extra $200/night, which we accepted. Suddenly, while processing the upgrade, she said $300/night!?! We each clearly heard her say $200/night, which she refused to honor! Obviously, we asked for the manager, Fernando Herrera, who apologized for Fernanda's mistake, but still refused to honor what we were told!! I explained this is a 4.5 star hotel and I've never been treated like this by a 2 star hotel, that it's absolutely customary to honor what we were told and agreed on!!! I also explained his decision will lead to loss of our business, and many bad reviews on travel sites!!! I then called Costco Travel, who we booked with, but didn't actually expect much. Wow, consistent with everything Costco being good, their representative Kenny was courteous and understanding, and actually got us out of that horrible Marquis resort without a penalty and put us in Secrets Resort for the same price! Secrets is beautiful, excellent customer service, large rooms........everything you'd expect from a 4.5+ star resort!!!! Marquis is noticeably falling apart, demonstrated by the first thing you see driving up: the buildings paint chipping and a dirty front gate which looks like it's about to fall! Thank you Costco, thank you Secrets......too bad Marquis' Fernando Herrera's horrible customer service could have easily been avoided by doing the right thing!!! We had a short stay at Marquis but it was awesome. One of the most relaxing resorts my wife and I have stayed at. The room, food, pools, and fitness room are all outstanding. We will definitely be coming back.

Spotting a great deal on Expedia and reading outstanding reviews, we booked a full week at the Marquis. What a stroke of luck! We were contacted by the concierge several times prior to our visit asking if we had any special requests, or needed help with transportation or help with arranging excursions. The resort is located almost exactly 1/2 way between San Jose Del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, so I strongly suggest you rent a car. The roads are excellent and its very easy to find your way. Prior to our arrival, we were offered an upgrade at additional cost, but we declined. So, I fully expected to be placed in a room with a lovely view of the air conditioner units ;) Instead, check in was quick and we were given what we thought was one of the best rooms in the hotel. The hotel is located mere yards off Highway 1, which worried us a bit about traffic noise. But, all rooms face spectacular ocean views on the opposite side of the building. We did hear sirens twice at night, but mostly just heard sounds of the surf. Hotel photos do not do justice to the modern design of the lovely hotel. The sculptures are magnificent and well placed. The lobby is open air to the ocean and very peaceful. It was pleasant just to sit there and listen to the ocean. Rooms are spotless and well appointed. The view is unparalleled. They could use a few more outlets for electronic device charging--especially above the mini-bar. Oddly, you must push your room key into a slot by the door for the lights to turn on. If you opened your patio doors, the air conditioning appropriately turns off. We often kept our doors open at night to hear the surf just a few yards away. We had a king size bed, a large armoire and plenty of sitting area. The bathroom is open to the room--a bit uncomfortable. The toilet area is closed off only by a frosted glass swinging door, so I hope couples are very comfortable with each others daily business--no mysteries here. The beds were firm and the bedding immaculate and fresh. The pillows however, were worn and were like sleeping on wet sand bags. They need to be replaced. The bathroom is huge with a very large walk in shower with a bench. L'Occitane amenities were lovely. There is a small flat screen TV with a few English channels and a safe in the armoire. There is a clever pass through cabinet near the room door where coffee and pastries magically appear every morning around 6:30. Unfortunately, the pastry selections were exactly the same every day of the week. The public areas are beautifully kept and spotless. I was a bit concerned that you cannot swim on the beach--you are asked to sign a document when you check in saying that you have been warned about the hazardous surf. You can walk to the Hilton's beach, but it is a long walk on very rough sand. Beach vendors are present, but never bothered anyone. There was a lovely gentleman offering horse back rides on the beach right in front of the hotel and another offering ultra light rides. Food is better than expected at the usual all inclusive. I'll review the restaurants separately. The infinity pools are to die for and there area several pools to choose from. The activities are phenomenal. You can be just as active or quiet as you want to be. The activities change daily and offer everything from water polo to archery, shooting, bingo, beach walks, exercising, dance lessons, Spanish lessons, tequila tasting, etc... we had a great time with Hector who got everyone up and moving to burn off some calories. Each week, they have a beach party and a Mexican fiesta on the beach. They even organized a St. Patrick's Day party for all of us gringos. There was live entertainment nightly and the musicians were very talented. However, they do try to cater a bit too much to Americans and everyone of them played a version of "Hotel California". They shot off beautiful fireworks on the beach twice the week we were there!! This is an adults only all inclusive that caters to a relatively high end crowd. So, there weren't any spring breakers or rowdy patrons. It's quiet and very romantic. In a word....outstanding. We cannot wait to return. My husband actually got a bit teary when we left ;) Special shout out to Hector, Omar, Paola, Daphne, Alma, Tania, Juvencio, Jorge, Fernando, Adalberto, Rodrigo, Gabriel, Isaias and all of the hidden staff behind the scenes from housekeeping, maintenance and groundskeeping. Our apologies if we left any one out.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our 1 week stay at this beautiful hotel! We took a chance and decided to try this place out as we have stayed at other all-inclusive hotels elsewhere and have enjoyed the experience that an all-inclusive hotel offers. We expected a similar experience at Marquis Los Cabos....but our expectations were exceeded! We LOVED it! From the start, walking up to the lobby with its picture-window type view of the Sea of Cortez is breath-taking! You have to see it in person to realize it actually looks like the pictures on their website! The staff, from the start, is great and my only criticism is that they really don't give you much guidance in terms of books or pamphlets in the rooms about what amenities or activities are available for you. Just a single piece of paper is all that they give with hours of the restaurants and a schedule of activities. It would have been nice to have a "reference" book that many hotels have of their amenities including restaurant menus. Anyway, that was a minor issue. Everyone on the staff is friendly, helpful, and always will offer you a friendly greeting. When we got to the room, which we booked an Oceanfront room on the 4th floor, we were amazed at the breathtaking view! Wall to wall, essentially ceiling to floor, ocean view of a very active Sea of Cortez. the sound of the shore break waves crashing is awesome! Again, the pics and videos on the website really represent the views accurately! We saw whales jumping almost everyday, so bring your binoculars! Cool breezes let you keep your balcony doors wide open to enjoy the sites, sounds, and feel of this beautiful resort. The room was clean, well-appointed, and very comfortable. No complaints overall. The "semi-private" bathroom is sometimes an issue but other than that, it is great. Service from housekeeping, room service, pool service, and restaurant staff were all so good, its hard to say enough about them. Housekeeping was always prompt and did a daily clean and a turndown service at night without fail. If we called them to do the service to fit our schedule, they did so without hesitation. Room service was perfect for dining out on the balcony and enjoying the view privately. Room service was the fastest we ever experienced. They would take our order and alway say, as most places do, "give us about 20-30 min for your order". But....they ALWAYS delivered it to our room usually in 10-15 min tops! So fast and efficient!. The morning coffee and sweet breads were always delivered to our room at 6am and were a perfect start to the day for watching the sun rise and eating breakfast on the balcony. For us, the restaurants were fantastic. My wife and I are vegetarians and the staff members were very accommodating. But even without that, there were a reasonable number of menu options available to us. The Italian food was perfection! The Japanese food provided us with many options, surprisingly. We did not eat at the Mexican restaurant as there weren't many vegetarian options there. The breakfast buffet was always good. We took advantage of room service dining a lot were you could tailor the food a little bit and they did well to accommodate us. We have had food at other all-inclusive resorts as vegetarians, and we agree that this resort exceeded our expectations and did an excellent job! The Spa was very relaxing. I did not find it overly expensive. Having paid for spa services at other "luxury" resorts, I felt it was a fair price. Especially since I had a $100 resort credit to use. For a 90 min couples massage we paid only $318 US dollars. I've paid more than that at hotels in the Napa Valley area so I didn't think this was too bad. We enjoyed the calm of the pools. So relaxing to hang out near the infinity edge and watch the ocean. The loungers are all well padded and very comfortable. The pool staff always helped me move loungers around early in the morning to help me position myself optimally for the day. The fact that this is an adult-only resort meant we really didn't have any of the spring break crowd at this time of the year, and it was very calm and peaceful. Perfect for a relaxing vacation! In summary, WE LOVED our first stay at Marquis Los Cabos! We are already thinking of booking another stay in a few months, if that is any indication of how we feel about this place. It was perfect for us to get away from the daily grind of work, relax, not worry about additional costs, and just sit by the pool or sit on the balcony, and enjoy the perfect view this resort offers.

We were here for our anniversary celebration for a few days. I have no bad things to say about this place. The drinks, the food, the room, the view, the service are all great! One of the things I liked was the pastries and coffee that is delivered to your room in the morning. The room was huge and the mini bar was fully stocked. I highly recommend this resort and we will definitely be back here.
