Reviews for Marquis Los Cabos

Horrible resort

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 hours ago

Not sure what the great reviews are about,… I have been coming to Cabo for over 15 years and have stayed at range of resorts, from mid to high end, I would NEVER stay at this resort again. 1) food is horrible and very limited 2) watered down drinks 3) Exterior and interior need tons of work 4) security lacking (rooms slider door was broken with easy access for all 5) limited activities - ultimately horrible as you are in an area with nothing around I could keep going but I’m assuming it’s already telling…

Amazing Staff! Management and Room Quality Poor.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We stayed at Marquis in February of 2020 and had a wonderful stay, so we decided to come back again September 7 – 14, 2025. However, it was not nearly as good of a stay. What was consistent was the amazing staff. Having visited over 10 all-inclusive resorts in Mexico, their staff ranks at the top. That’s why it’s challenging to share our experience because I don’t want it to negatively impact them. However, I know the importance of understanding what to expect before booking a resort. The private airport pick up was wonderful and seamless. Upon arriving at Marquis, I was asked to pay an amount several thousands of dollars more than what was quoted to me through email for an upgraded room request. After some panic, I was able to fortunately find the email strand and the original price was honored, but I did not receive the room type that I requested and paid for. To their credit, I know they just had a tropical storm come through and they were still cleaning up some areas. Secondly, I asked him not to mention the extra amount I was paying for the room as the upgrade was a surprise for my husband and I didn’t want him to know the cost. Within a minute, the check-in staff member mentioned the amount out loud in front of him. Oh well. When we arrived to our casita 712, the safe didn’t work and they fixed it quickly. However, I then noticed that the electrical outlets didn’t work for half of the casita. I mentioned it to the front desk and they said they would fix it while we were at dinner. I assumed they had, until the next morning I noticed it wasn’t fixed and I had to blow dry my hair next to the dining table. Then, the issue we really cared about was that our side sliding glass door didn’t lock, and, we were the first casita next to the beach so it made me even more nervous. We let the front desk know about both issues and they said they would come right away. They never showed. Finally, after our third time asking, they came but couldn’t fix the lock. My husband’s idea was to take the rod out of the closet and wedge it between the door (see photo). I emailed and verbally asked to speak to a manger for help, but that never happened. A few other concerns included that the steam room didn’t work in either spa bathroom when we did a spa day pass, the elevators were not functional at times, and the property is in need of lots of repairs. As other reviews mentioned, we did see a few dead cockroaches in our room, but do know our housekeeper was truly amazing and extremely detailed and we know it’s not her fault. Finally, at check-out they asked our room number. She then said thank you, Helen (not my name). I let her know and reminded her of our room number and she said that wasn’t our room number (it was) and the name of the guest she thought was staying in that room. She was very confused, pulled out a paper copy of our credit card charge, and told us we could leave. I have never left a negative review for a place. But do keep in mind, the food was great and the staff went above and beyond. That’s why I am giving a 4-star rating. I truly don’t want them to slide because of issues involving management, who still never reached out during or stay or after. A special thank you to the waitstaff and servers Mauricio, Marco, Sergio, Arturo, Joshua, Xiomara, Eduardo, Joshua and so many others. The entertainment team Monteserrat, Jared, Johnny, and Katya. Johnatan at arrivals. And our housekeepers.

Great service and food, but little improvements needed

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Recently visited the Marquis from 9/6-11 for our honeymoon and overall enjoyed our stay. Paid $2300 for 5 nights in the ocean front king suite (i recommend booking during black friday/cyber monday). Overall i give it about a 4.3-4.5. Facilities- The lobby is beautiful and the hotel is very clean, however there is a lot of wear and tear in some of the restaurants and rooms. The rooms definitely need a refresh/remodel. We were in room 432 and it had a pretty strong mold smell from the day we arrived. We were in the oceanfront suite which was spacious, but i think the plunge pool suites were really nice too. We also came after the storm and only the service elevators were available. Not too big of a deal, but the resort could use some updates. This is one reason i’m giving them a 4 instead of a 5. The hotel is smaller and intimate which we enjoyed, it was easy to get downtown and to/from the airport. Activities-They have a wide range of activities like tequila/mezcal tasting, dance lessons & trivia which were all fun. All activities are listed in the app which was helpful. Food- All of the food was delicious & drinks were not watered down. Breakfast buffet was great but i wish they had more non-pork breakfast meat options. Pergola and Sakke hibachi were my favorites. We also got room service and it was quick and delicious With only 3-4 restaurants, if you’re staying longer than 5 days, it might get repetitive. Service- Service was great all around. From the pool servers to the restaurants, and security, everyone was helpful and friendly. Overall, i would probably return to Marquis but would like to see some more variety in food options and wear/tear improvements. This resort is definitely worth the money and we enjoyed our time!

Awful

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

The location is a bit isolated. You'll need a taxi, Uber, or a car to get into either town. And, you'll want to, as the food is absolutely dismal. Drinks are meh. Got sick from the Pergola dinner the first night and couldn't bring ourselves to eat there again. We found a restaurant in Cabo and went there twice. We went hungry the rest of the time. We had cockroaches, flies, and mosquitoes in the room on most days. We stayed in the Master Suite, which was very disappointing. We had to ask for coffee pods and water refills every single day. Completely overpriced. Also, you can hear everything. There is zero privacy. AC barely kept up with the heat, and the room had a musty smell. The staff was nice. The resort is aging, and it is showing. It was boring. I would not come back even if it were free.

Disappointing concierge

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Had a lot of issues with the concierge. We requested to go snorkeling and paid for it 3 days in advance but then on the day of, transportation never arrived to take us on our snorkeling outing. It was able to be rebooked after 30 minutes of back and forth but not until much later during the hottest time of the day. We had a similar thing happen later that day for an art walk. We booked it through the app, arrived to the lobby early, but transportation left without us and another couple. The manager refused to help us and told us 3 different stories about why the transportation left without us. Both of these experiences created a lot of frustration and disappointment during our honeymoon trip there.
