Bass Fishermen’s Paradise in Mark Twain’s National Forest.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed September 17, 2022

If you haven’t experienced Stonewater Cove (SC) you are missing out! This is truly an amazing family owned & operated luxury resort in Lake of the Ozark's. My family has visited the resort 4 or 5 times over the Fourth of July week and if you enjoy fishing, boating, mini-golf, zip lining, ATV riding, tree-house massages & the great outdoors, you will feel right at home here. My husband is a huge Bass Fisherman and this is by far the best bass fishing and boating in the MidWest. The resort has all of the luxury amenities of a full service resort from an adventure concierge’s to help plan your day to a gourmet menu and even fireside-smores. If the humidity is too much to bear—-as it was sometimes for me, you can enjoy the indoor air-conditioned game room and play a game of checkers and sip on a cream soda. The outdoor pool has two waterfalls, a hot tub, boat slip and a swim dock!!!

Outstanding!

My husband and I went to SC for a week to celebrate my 50th birthday. We fell in love with the place. Our one bedroom suite was beautiful. My feet still miss stepping onto the soft carpet in the morning. The bathroom was huge with a shower with multiple heads including a rainfall. The hot tub was large enough for two, and it had a separated toilet room for extra privacy. No, the TV is not fantastic and the wifi is not very reliable in the rooms. It is much better in the lodge. They are aware, and are working the issue to the best of their abilities for the region. Remember you booked a trip to the woods in Missouri, likely to get away for a while. My husband and I played games in the lounge, played mini golf, bocce ball and enjoyed a movie in their ridiculously good media room when we were not hiking or in the water. With regard to activities, you can do as much or as little as you like. We hiked most mornings, swam in the lake or pool and canoed or kayaked in the afternoon. I rode an ATV solo for the first time in my life thanks to the patience and excellent instruction given by our guide, Jim. Jim also escorted us on a Ranger tour to familiarize ourselves with the area for hiking, and he delighted us with a sunset cruise around the lake. We skipped the zip lining and motorized water sports, but those who did these activities thoroughly enjoyed them. I have to comment on one of the unique things that sets SC above the rest. If you tell them you are hiking, they will take an ATV out with a screen to clear the path of spider webs for you. That is next level service. We had the pleasure of singer/songwriter Albert Simpson playing guitar and singing for us before and after dinner a few nights. He was even kind enough to join us fireside for smores one evening. Outstanding. Now the food and beverage. There was plenty, and it was fantastic. It truly is farm to table. Options are not extensive but varied with daily specials at breakfast and lunch. We loved sharing burgers, sandwiches, and salads with optional added protein daily. Hors d’oeuvres were served promptly at 5:30PM in the bar/lounge, and they changed daily. Dinner was unique nightly with the exception of recurring steak and chicken options. Smores are available every night fireside which were a treat even in the warm summer evenings. Snacks such as chips, trail mix, and cookies are also available between meals in the lounge. There is no shortage of food here. The wine list is good. We liked that it was not exclusive to CA but offered wines from around the world in addition to some familiar CA and OR options. Now for the details on the service experience. This is the real heart of the matter because all the beauty, food and drink, and toys in the world are nothing without a team to bring it all together. James was our host throughout our stay, and he was everywhere all the time and didn’t miss a beat. He greeted us at breakfast to sort our hiking, and mixed fresh and decadent cocktails in the evening. He made all the arrangements for our activities and was always available to answer any of our countless questions. He did all this without being intrusive, and never looked bothered despite the long hours he clearly puts in. Oliva took care of us for all our meals, and like James never missed a beat. Contrary to some reviews, we never waited but instead asked for time to enjoy a bloody mary or two before breakfast. This is not a Club Med, Four Seasons or Relais & Chateaux. It is a family run luxury operation with exceptional attention to detail. It operates on pride. Doing what they say they are going to do, doing it well, and then a doing a little bit more. We are looking forward to our return next fall.

Remote, relaxing, getaway could use some updates

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed September 6, 2021

We had a very nice time there mainly because the family members who runs it are absolute gems. So genuine, happy to please and make you feel immediately at home. The place is totally isolated so once you get there you need to really be happy as there is nowhere else to go. The pluses there are the staff (James, the owner's son is amazing), it's intimate size, the many activities available (hiking, zip lining, lake, pool, kayaking, canoeing, boating, spa) and the overall cleanliness of the place. The minuses for us were the food (average - especially dinner), wine selections (really bad - bring your own!) and ambiance of the rooms: poor lighting, poor TV picture, zero internet/cell service and dated feel of the décor. The rooms could definitely use a facelift and upgraded amenities such as better lighting, room phones, makeup mirrors, newer lightweight robes, double sinks and a streamlined shower system although I suppose some people may like the old timey, rustic feel. None of the minuses would be a problem overall except that for $1000/night + alcohol + activities we have stayed at nicer places for similar money. The extras added up quickly so it worked out to more like $1200/night. I think we would consider going back again just because the people were so nice and it is a relatively close getaway for us but we'd have to justify the expense against other options.

WHAT A FUN ESCAPE!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed July 12, 2021

My friend and I celebrated our 65th birthdays at Stonewater Cove with a weekend away from life post Covid. We could not have had more fun or laughed or relaxed more than we did this weekend. The accommodations, the staff and the food were all excellent and more than we could have anticipated. My friend found this on a web search and we just said yes! What a wonderful adventure - don’t miss it.

Made Wonderful Family Memories

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed May 28, 2021

I can't say enough good things about Stonewater Cove. We traveled as a family group of 7, from grandparents to toddlers, and this resort exceeded in meeting all of our needs. It rained the first two days of our trip, but that didn't prevent us from enjoying any of the activities. Actually, James, Adam, Patricia, and staff went out their way to schedule anything we asked when we asked. The food was excellent and prepared to our specifications when needed. Again, staff attentiveness was outstanding. Olivia never failed to keep my grapefruit juice glass filled! There was so many good things about this stay! To sum them up quickly: the nightly music in the lounge, the bonfire, the theater, the wonderful massage, the utv tour, the boat tour, the fishing, the canoe/kayak trip, the chocolates on the pillow, and, above all, the always smiling, courteous, attentive staff. Don't give it a second thought! This is the place to stay on Table Rock Lake!
