I can't say enough about this gem of a hotel. It is small and if you are looking for nightlife and loud music with partying crowds, this hotel is not for you. But it is romantic and great for reconnecting with your significant other in a pristine setting. The beach is amazing, food is delicious (all meals are sit down, no buffet), you see the ocean from everywhere you are which I loved. The room is comfortable and mine had a direct walkout to the beach. All I had to do is open the sliding door, and I would be on the gorgeous beach. This is the only place that I would return time and time again. The people that work here are wonderful and friendly and there is a very warm atmosphere throughout. This place doesn't have bells and whistles that the other mega resorts have, but it really provides you with basics of a great vacation - service, food, beach, atmosphere. I just love it here!

As many Trip Advisors will know Galley Bay suffered hurricane damage in October forcing the management to shut the hotel. Our party like so many others still visited Antigua and can report we saw NO DAMAGE throughout the island and its open for business as usual. Please don't switch holiday island because of perceived damage because you will miss out on a visiting a beautiful Island & people and plus helping the adjacent island of Barbuda. We have been to Galley Bay many times so were disappointed earlier this year when we had no choice but to switch hotel. Many visitors to Galley Bay will remember Captain Sean and his yatch " Beats Working" well he is still in business and we hired him on this trip from his temporary base at Jolly Harbour. We had a great day sailing & snorkelling concluding with a impromptu visit for my milestone birthday to Galley Bay, which was still undergoing repairs. We were greeted on the beach by the owner James Lane including old staff friends including; Chris - Cedric - Alex - Stan & Stuart plus some of the fantastic contractors putting the finishing touches to the hotel. Unknown to me and despite he's very busy schedule James had arranged a BQ on the beach for my family. He even provided a room to freshen up. To be at Galley Bay for another milestone birthday was a dream come true. The hotel is well on course for its grand re-opening later this month. Visitors will be over whelmed with all the hard work James & the team have achieved since the hurricane damaged in October. I'm sure many visitors like me will want to wish James & all the wonderful staff at Galley Bay "Best Wishes for the coming season. I for one are looking forward to visiting again next year.

We had an absolutely fabulous stay on the occasion of our 30th Wedding Anniversary. The rooms, the beaches, the restaurants were all tremendous, but it’s the staff that makes Galley Bay spectacular. From the minute you arrive you are greeted, and treated like family. The entire staff was warm, friendly, and extremely helpful. We could not have asked for anything more. We had a fabulous week and look forward to another stay at Galley Bay. Thank you for making our anniversary so special!

A review of Galley Bay The Accommodations GB put us in one of their 32 new, recently built, Premium Beachfront Suites, # 17, which was ready for us early. It was a perfect location - 15 feet from the sand and convenient to the central facilities including two of the four dining areas, the beach bar, free-form pool with a cascading waterfall and the guest services desk. We had a comfortable king bed which faced the ocean, a sunken living room area, internet access, minibar (replenished daily at no extra charge), and flat screen TV. Dining There are three restaurants, the two main ones are open-air and all serve à la carte. Ismay's, namesake of their beloved employee who worked for 52 years and was never late or absent, is GB's added-charge gourmet restaurant perfect for special occasions. The only buffet meal is a Caribbean barbecue once a week for dinner which is in addition to service at the other restaurants. That is, they do not close the restaurants to force you to go to the buffet. We enjoyed the eclectic menus in the Seagrape for all three meals and Gauguin restaurant for dinners. We were impressed with all of the fresh fruits and vegetables incorporated into the delicious entrées and foodies will also love the beautiful presentations. The Barefoot Beach Grill was a casual grill station serving lunch from 1-4:00. Overview GB is a boutique, romantic property for adults on a 3/4 mile long, white, powdery sand beach with clear surf and palm trees for shade. There were plentiful palapas, lounge chairs on the sand and at the pools.. There is no children's program -16 is the minimum age for guests. The 98 guest rooms are set amid 40 acres of beautiful tropical gardens and all facilities provide a sense of privacy and intimacy. Most accommodations are tucked into the landscape along the beach. Their distinctive Gauguin cottages are hidden amid the gardens offering lagoon views and concealed, private plunge pools. There was a small but adequate spa and fitness center, a tennis court, and several walking and bicycling trails. Pathways are well lit and the signage is excellent. The nightly entertainment was interesting but limited to local groups performing opposite the Boardwalk which runs between the facilities and the sand. Many exciting tours and excursions were available nearby. Don't miss Sunday at sunset at Shirley Heights overlooking Nelson's Dockyard. Galley Bay has a genuine sense of Caribbean/British hospitality and was recently named as one of the "Top 100 resorts of the World." They have hired quality, experienced staff who always say, "Hi!" As a travel consultant, I will be recommending GB highly to our clients. Marv & Sue Weber

Firstly I must apologise to the marvellous crew at Galley Bay for not writing this review soon enough. You come home from honeymoon and all too soon - Real life reasserts itself with a vengeance. The choice of honeymoon is never an easy one. You are ideally looking for that mixture of luxury, romance and indulgence mixed with the ability to get out and explore and see some of what your location has to offer. Can't stay all day in the hotel room..... can you?? Galley Bay completely lived up to our expectations and then some. We stayed in a beachfront bungalow which completely bowled over the wife with a Dolby Digital Surround view of the actual bay. Sun beds a plentiful and the bar within walking distance (1min 30 sec). Although the bar doesn't deliver, and quite rightly so, they allow you to take drinks back to your room - and for spontaneous refreshment needs - the ice lolly man strolls down the beech giving away the flavours of the day. The bay itself is great for swimming and all the water sports that the resort itself provides. I do understand where older guests might feel that perhaps the bay can be a little rough for swimming but once you're in it's great. Also before you do a trip - practice your snorkelling up and down. I personally saw an Octopus, several colourful fish and chased a Pelican in Search of that perfect Animal Planet shot. The food was pretty amazing too. Try the Caribbean night, go to the Cocktail party, do a romantic dinner on the beach and try the specialist restaurant up the other end. I was on a 10 day quest to try the curried goat, and when I finally got it, it was delicious. Beware the ladies at breakfast though. This kindly crew won't miss an opportunity to stack up your plate - and I do mean stack! If you're up for some activity see Lenroy and Kelly down at water sports. I hadn't been sailing in a while so it was really great to be able to take a Catamaran out, they even gave my wife a few lessons and by the end of our hols she was zipping up and down the bay with the best of them. Hit the rum shack on Thursday night. Great if you know next to nothing about rum and they were really happy to try lots of different combos. Finally a big shout out to the staff who looked after us and sorted us out. Iba and his team in the Visitors Centre, The girls from the restaurant (you know who you are), Mr Matthews, Lenroy, Kelly and the Lolly man. Thank you all for such an amazing start to married life.
