Miraval Resort & Spa in Tucson, Arizona

Mindfulness is at the core of Miraval Resort & Spa's philosophy. Set against the Santa Catalina Mountains amid cacti and golden desert fields, the Miraval experience aims to bring guests' physical, emotional, social and spiritual components into harmony with classes, treatments and opportunities for personal growth. With guidance from a team of on-site specialists – from physiologists to photographers to Native American shamans – you’ll create a path to living your best life in whatever way you choose.

Start the day with a gratitude meditation. Release tension with a session of aerial yoga, gliding into poses with the support of silk hammocks suspended off the ground. Join a group of new friends for a trail run across the sun-baked terrain. Gain clarity through a Reiki session and a sound bath from Tibetan singing bowls. Join Executive Chef Justin Macy to learn the secrets to healthy cooking. Sip on cabernet under the vivid constellations of the desert night sky.

"We don't want you leaving feeling unhappy with us," said one of the managers who failed to completely credit a disappointing (dis)service. Unhappy to the tune of $250 plus tax? You bet. Canyon Ranch would have reverses charges without blinking. The new Miraval is clearly not interested in my satisfaction. And it comes at a high price in low season. What's Good: Many of the old staff: Victoria (spa) and many fitness instructors recognized and greeted me warmly even though it had been a year. The food is still is on the small portion side but is fresher than before. What's New: The basic rooms are 1/2 updated with that silver No Cal style decorating (which is pleasant but ignores the fact the resort is in a desert) but doesn't really coordinate with the old bathroom wood and fixtures. I say: update it all! What's Bad: Reservations. To call repeatedly and be put on hold forever is dismaying. I had to call 4 times to place a reservation. During my stay, I called to add a night and and got no reply, ever. And I can't recommend the new psychic (Alexandra) who told me about a loved one had passed who in fact is very much alive.

You can go for any reason - disconnect, be outdoors, overall wellness, mindfulness, anything and Miraval has it.I would recommend this to anyone - couples or friends going. We all got something unique and special out of it and I can see myself going year after year and having a new experience each time. The amount of activities (indoor/outdoor, classes, etc) and spa services they offer are unparalleled. Try the things you've never heard of - they are the most special!!

The service is impeccable. If you are looking to discover you, relax, learn and get active. This is the place for you. I am so grateful I was able to go here and I can't wait to go back. The food is gourmet and healthy. If I couldn't have take the chef home with me, I would have. Best vacation I have taken yet!

This trip was to reset my life so I can be a better director, wife and mom. My girlfriend joined and we had such a good time! Cardio drumming and horse trail riding is a must! All spa services are a must!

Miraval is heaven on earth! The activities are inspiring and the spa services are relaxing and rejuvenating. I'd highly recommend Miraval for those that desire an all inclusive spa destination trip; girlfriends, couples or solo.
