I returned to Miraval following probably a 5 year absence. I enjoyed all of the refurbishing and redecoration which has taken place. The artwork scattered throughout the grounds is just lovely. The food is still top notch. I love that they offer meals which are mostly farm to table with no additives found in conventional dining rooms ... and some of the vegetables are raised right there on the property. The bar area offers a combination of chips, very fresh veggies and a nightly variety of hummus and different types of salsa. Again, all made at Miraval. An addition, I enjoyed was that “small plates” were offered only in the bar in which a small dinner was served if you didn’t wish to dine in the main dining room. The quality of the “small plates” was every bit as delicious as what was offered in the main dining area although not as elaborate. The spa services I enjoyed were all top notch. And the spa facility itself is very clean. My favorite treatment was NAGA, which is a service evolving from the principals of Thai massage. The therapist also utilizes silk material suspended from the ceiling which assists the practitioner in utilizing their body to become an extension of those silks enabling them to stretch and deepen the therapy. The practitioner who worked with me on stretching and deep tissue massage truly performed miracles and I now have so much more mobility and flexibility in my feet. (Please excuse me, Mamare, if I misspell your name. You’re a miracle worker!) Since my 5 year absence, I’ve noticed the property attracts not only females of ALL ages, but couples, too. (In the past, the male presence was sparse.)There are any number of activities offered which are appealing (and challenging) to both men and women, regardless of anyone’s fitness level. I always get the feeling that the people who head these classes truly enjoy what they do. Keep in mind, this spa is not just for couples or traveling companions. Singles need not be shy in booking a trip at Miraval. At no time did I ever feel unsafe traveling alone. Enjoy the wonder and the beauty of Arizona’s high desert and the ever changing view of Mt. Lemmon while you’re treated like the only person on the property!

Just returned from a birthday getaway with five friends. We made the most of the many activities and spa treatments offered here-- from floating meditation, rock climbing, Thai massage, water fitness etc--and the instructors were excellent. The food was delicious, healthy and varied; sign up for a cooking class held in the restaurant kitchen. Dessert is served and it is very good-- coconut macaroons, creme bruleee and chocolate torte were standouts. The service, however, at the front desk, spa and restaurant was extremely uneven. We often didn't have forks, dishes were cleared before we had finished eating, there was no orientation to the spa, sometimes there were no robes in lockers-- these seem like small things, but when you are paying almost $900 per day, everything should really be close to perfect. Responses to any feedback/ complaint was extremely nonchalant. So--a definite yes for a healthy escape, but it's a little rough around the edges.

I had been to Miraval 3 years ago and found it to be a paradise on earth complete will healthy AND delicous all inclusive meals, yoga, meditation, equine therapy, ropes style outdoor team building activities, an luxurious spa, and so much more!! I had to come back with my daughter this year and it was the most perfect way for us to bond, grow and spend quality time together. I will for sure be back again next year... it's worth every penny!

The place is an oasis in an increasing chaotic world. It is a vacation that you come back recharged from. You learn tools to handle stress that you take with you. The rooms, food, environment, and classes are first rate. There are many challenge classes that are especially good for team building. At first glance the cost per day per person seems expensive. I was reminded once I was there that you get so much for that cost. Unlimited classes of all types all day. Classes are on mindfulness, meditation, stress reduction, eating etc. in addition to workout classes of all types and levels. Fabulous food is included that would cost hundreds per day if purchased ala cart at a five star hotel. I have been to Miraval multiple times. It is a luxurious resort/spa that can be a life changer.

I stayed at Miraval for three nights during the Shape Magazine weekend. This was supposed to be a getaway with a friend, an escape from the every day in place of relaxation, fitness, spa and more. We decided on Miraval based on the offerings, the location and food reviews. The latter two did not disappoint. Nor did the comfortable bed or spa treatments. Here is where Miraval falls short. 1. Customer service. From the front desk to the wait staff to the fitness instructor (just one who did not show up for class) to the lack of staff at the spa. Indifference, lack of attention. Who knows. There were exceptions (like the bartenders in the lounge) but very few. 2. Class offerings. If you are paying this amount of money, you should be able to take whatever class you want. Forget wait lists. They should not exist. Put more classes in the schedule. There is plenty of room to do so. 3. Orientation. This should consist of more than a walk around the lobby. Enough said. 4. When you have a company like Shape buy out the weekend, be sure you know what the hell they are doing. We asked several people and nobody really knew nor did they care. Kind of non-existent. And we were on the Shape package but would not have known had we not received little drugstore gifties every night. Actually, I didn't even but my friend did. 5. Food is delicious with plenty of choices, etc. However, you need to get up at 6:30 am to put your name down for a decent time to eat dinner. It's like saving a lounge chair at a beach hotel. For the amount of money you pay, this should not be the case. We were up early, so we managed but didn't figure this out until the last evening. We did raise our concerns to the management who did their best to address it. However, it was not enough to make me revisit or recommend. Too bad because it really could be great.
