Our room looked nothing like the room on the website. Very dark. Shower was disgusting. Door to room and door to bathroom did not fully close. Staff was alerted. They told us to call reservations if we wanted to change rooms. They didn't even offer to make the call for us.

Just returned from a four day stay at the Miraval AZ resort. I heard many great things about the resort, but since it's an inclusive package, I was hesitant about the quality of the food. That was not a problem at all after I arrived. My girlfriends are foodies and loved pretty much everything that was served at the restaurant. In addition to regular meals, the juice/snack bar came in handy for quick bites. I took several classes at the resort including yoga, fitness, lectures and were all amazing. Spa was relaxing and just want you expect from a luxury resort. Miraval is definitely one stop shop when it comes to a nice getaway to rejuvenate from daily stress and routines. I will definitely go back again soon.

This place is heavenly! I will definitely return soon. I've been telling everyone who will listen about it! The spa services, equine experiences, the food, hikes, all of it exceeded my highest expectations!

This was my first trip to Marival in honor of special birthdays coming up. Every thing about our stay of 3 days was wonderful. The treatments were first rate and we enjoyed a variety of exercise classes. The resort provides large umbrellas as this was monsoon season, but that did not interfere with our stay. The room is comfortable. Village 1 and 2 are closer to main building and easy walk to spa and body mindful center. I hope to return in the near future.

TRANSPORTATION: - Free shuttle pickup at airport, but it's not private and you get lumped together with other arrivals so you sometimes have to wait up to 20 minutes for other passengers and their luggage - Same return shuttle to airport departs every hour ROOMS: - Even though Miraval is itself kind of old (built in 1990s) the rooms have recently been renovated and look pretty nice. The bed has Frette linens and the most comfortable duvet and pillows so that you feel like you're sleeping in a cloud. - Bathroom is a little small (again, built in 1990s), but not a huge deal. Shower only, no bathtub. SERVICE: - This is where the extra start could come from. From our check in, we just noticed that *some* of the staff just didn't seem all that enthusiastic about working or helping us. There was one older lady in particular that was outright rude to us and accelerated so fast in the buggy that I literally was almost thrown off the back of it (now that would have been interesting..) I hear that the place is under new management and that is what is reponsible for the change in service. FOOD: - All food and snacks are free, but the portions are SMALL (or have we just become accustomed to massive portions in America?) I had to order 2 appetizers, 1 entree, 1 dessert for dinner and still not really be that full. The good thing is you can order as much as you want, and the waiters are pretty cool about it and not making you (ahem, me) feel like a total pig. - Alcohol you have to pay for but unlike Canyon Ranch (ahem!) they offer plenty of wines and cocktails. RESORT: - There are a myriad of activities but they are only offered at certain days/times so depending on when you are staying, you might not be able to do something like the outside tightrope, aerial yoga, etc. I didn't plan as well in advance as I could have but next time I would preplan my trip based on what activities I really wanted to do. - Some activities are free but you have to sign up ahead of time and if you don't show then you pay a penalty. - There are 3 pools in the resort- 1 main one "Oasis," one by the fitness center, and another one by the spa. The main one has a Cabana you can rent for $75/hr and supposedly there is a bar there but when we went the bar was closed, there was no one there, and we had to get our own towels and open our own umbrella- it was the weird experience ever- this was on a Sunday at 3pm! We couldn't even get a drink by the pool! SPA: - The spa is wonderful and has a wide array of treatments. I would definitely recommend the Naga which is a Miraval exclusive and is a sort of Thai massage (so you know what you're getting into). Prices are on the high side but the treatments are good and there is no gratuity, which helps. - Spa shop is super cute and has some really good products OVERALL - Probably not the best value, but for a girls trip or a nice rest and relaxation massage, it's a decent choice. I think the obvious thing to say here is that the main competitor is Canyon Ranch which is nicer and more expensive. Miraval COULD be great but they need more (and better trained) staff and need to try a little harder if they want to compete in this space.
