Honestly, this place is awful. To be fair, I went with a large group and the group had many demands. However, the resort could not handle ANY of the requests. If you are planning a company trip here, do not go. If you are looking for a resort with amazing food, do not go. If you are looking for top notch staff, do not go. I will say the resort has gorgeous guest rooms, but that is honestly it. The food is gross. They know nothing about presentation. The staff is rude and degrading. The first thing they said when I arrived was 'we do not like to say no!'. Ironic because EVERYTHING you ask, they will say no. I was not told until I arrived that the resort is 90% women, and by women they mean overweight middle aged housewives who are ok with eating soggy Caesar salads and one bite servings of banana bread served in ziploc bags. The only way I can describe this place is a TOTAL CATFISH. We were shown beautiful event spaces online and when we were arrived, they were tiny picnic tables sandwiched between a parking lot and trailers. Our travel agent told us the awful service and terrible upkeep is likely from the fact that the resort was recently bought by Hilton. Since this was my first time at Miraval, I cannot compare, but I can say that I will absolutely never ever go back. Go to Canyon Ranch if you are looking for a wellness retreat. This place is a waste of money.

The new ‘Retreat’ is gorgeous but the experience wasn’t seamless this time. Too many disappointments with the service this time. It felt like there were a lot of new staff who weren’t trained to go find the answer if they didn’t have one.

An amazing place of release, reexamination, rejuvenation, and rejoice! 4-stars (versus 5-stars) due to 'organization/operations' issues. Read on. And do visit if you're interested. It will do you enormous GOOD. My original intent for this trip was physical exercise (get the heart rate up, which I did). I found myself spending equal time with mindful exercise. Morning start with before breakfast 2-hour hikes expertly lead by Kyle, Caleb, and Matt. Stops along the way to learn about flora and fauna. 10,000 steps before breakfast. Pam and Melisa helped me to find 'happy hips' and to set 'my shoulders free'. Mindful eating reminded me to put down the fork andchew/taste/chew/taste swallow. Slow the shoveling/eating down. Learn about bees and honey with Noel who makes that session tasty and fun. Amy's skill and the lymphatic hydra facial left me glowing and Stephen's years of training and hands released my shoulder knots without the pain I've come to know with massages elsewhere. Spa is open until 10pm. Wonderful way to end your day. The food is fresh, flavorful, colorful at all meals. Buffet at breakfast and lunch (there is a small menu too). Dinner is off a menu with lots of choices for meat eaters, pescatarians, and vegetarians alike. Small portions that are quite filling. Desserts that provide the sweet kick you seek. The waitstaff is extraordinarily personable. They learn your likes/dislikes quickly and how you take your coffee or drinks on Day One. Emily and Angie went the extra mile with a smile. Sit out-side if you can. It is calmer and less noisy than sitting inside the dining room, and has a pretty view of the mountain. If you don't want a full dinner, you can have a lighter bite in the bar area. If you need a pick me up during the day or before the hikes in the morning, Mona's smile will greet you at the juice bar -- try the bone broth. You come to feel like part of an extended family in no time. Everyone makes an effort to know your name and to get to know YOU. What you need to know: 1. Book as soon as you know you want to go. Ask about specials that will save you $$$. Ask about room layout. If you're the type that doesn't ever spend time in your room, the 100 or 200 rooms are in a perfect location (albeit a bit dated in layout ... we didn't have a double sink). The 600 rooms have more space and a lovely view of the mountain (although it's very dark returning to those rooms late at night). When at the ranch, don't accept a room that has structural issues (e.g., a shower that you cannot turn around, etc.). They will find you one that works best for you. 2. Book your classes and/or lectures as soon as you book your room. There are size limits for many, and you can get locked out. 3. Book you therapies in advance of your visit to get the services you seek at the time that you want with the therapist that you need, especially if you want the 4pm - 8pm window that is very popular. 4. When making your bookings, allow A LOT of time on the phone. Especially if you're going for more than two or three days. The reservationists are very helpful but for some reason the process takes more time than I anticipated. 5. For classes that don't have a sign-up, arrive early. The rooms are smallish (compared to other spas) and you could get closed out. Would I got to Miraval again, you bet. It's top-notch. And transformative.

I have been to Miraval 7 times. I had planned to be a lifelong devotee. What drew me was the charisma of the staff, the attentiveness, accommodating attitudes, and the wonderful facilities. The bed is wonderful and a cloud of feathers. I have been back twice since Hyatt took over and I have to honestly say that the magic is gone. The slots for treatments are tight. The last time I went, they gave me ONE time slot that I had to work with. Classes that were full used to be expanded to accommodate guest needs. My friends and I were signed up for a photography class and had to inquire whether or not we could go. In the past they would have told us up front and would have opened up another class. Nothing was opened up. The juice/smoothie bar options seem like they are half what they used to be, most are premade. Little things like the water previously infused with an array of fruit slices meticulously and aesthetically arranged are now replaced with slices of cucumbers. The teachers were not charismatic and lacked the energy of previous ones. I did see Melissa there (who is my favorite instructor) though she did not teach any of the classes I did. I will continue to bring friends/family who have never been because they know no difference, but for me, the magic is gone. I hope the management will listen to this feedback and bring back the service aspects of the old Miraval that I loved so much.

From the moment I stepped out of the shuttle van to the moment I got back in to return to the airport, I was in awe of Miraval. Everything - the room, the activities, the spa, the food, the staff - was high end. I was fortunate to be one of the first to stay at the Retreat. My room, the Solace was beautifully appointed and the patio, with private jacuzzi and fireplace, overlooked the mountains. Heaven. I booked activities that were out of my comfort zone and so happy I did. The Desert Tightrope was just what I needed. It's Not About The Horse is profound. Loved learning how to mountain bike. All the spa treatments were fantastic. Give yourself some time before or after your treatment to hang out at the spa. There is a steam room, jacuzzi and outdoor patio to take some sun. In the waiting area comfy lounges where you can sip on delicious tea. Breakfast and lunch are buffet, while dinner is sit down. All the food is excellent. The smoothie bar is so convenient for grabbing a quick snack or a healthy smoothie. If you're thinking of going to Miraval, do not hesitate, book your tickets now, you will not regret it. Stay at The Retreat if you can, you will love it. I left Miraval rested, relaxed and feeling healed. I know I will be back! What a special place. Thank you Miraval and Sheri for taking such good care of me!
