We came for a wedding, and we are not typically 'resort' travelers but our experience at Dreams Tulum was the best all-inclusive we have been too. Our room was clean, nicely decorated and functional. The bed was too soft for me, but that's personal preference. Benito or 'Benito Mojito', our server at the relaxation pool went above and beyond just bringing us drinks. He remembered us, and kept us coming back to the area he was serving! If you are coming here, hope you get Benito as a server!! Seriously a gem!! The beaches are beautiful, the resort is location next to Tulum National Park.. I suggest walking along the beach past the boundaries of the resort, you will see some interesting sea life, including small sting rays. The food is amazing here! Take advantage of the a la cartes! Sushi and Italian were probably my favorites! If your looking to relax and worry about anything, I suggest this resort!

We had a wonderful time at Dreams Tulum. If you want to know the details (good and bad) read more below. To give you some context, we are UVC members and have been to many AMResorts properties including Dreams, Breathless, Sunscapes, and Secrets. As UVC members, I received an email from Michelle Rodriguez about a week before our trip asking for details about our stay, favorite drink, allergies, etc. I replied to not waste the time and money putting champagne in our room because we don’t drink it (but my wife would love a bottle of Bailey’s for her coffee), and the friends we were traveling with have a child with a severe peanut allergy. Our room had champagne, no Baileys, and our friends room was loaded with complementary peanut M&M’s. Why bother to ask? When we arrived, we asked Michelle to make us a reservation at the Hibachi table for our group of 8 on any night during our 7-day stay that was convenient. She said Tuesday would be perfect, and to come back before the dinner to pickup a voucher for it. We went back to the main entrance and the UVC office to pickup the voucher and were told that there was unexpected maintenance at the Hibachi (turned out to be a lie), and all the reservations were moved back by one day (turned out to be a lie), and apparently they forgot to re-book us. But they could accommodate us for dinner on Friday night when they know that our reservation says we leave Friday morning. After figuring out that Michelle is basically incompetent, the concierge manager saved the day and managed to get us a reservation before our departure. The lesson learned here is that UVC really has no control over anything that happens on the property. It is best to ask the hotel management for any needs. That’s the worst of it. Not enough to ruin on vacation, and everything else about this hotel more than makes up for a few people who are unhelpful. Upon check-in at the Preferred Club, the gentleman at the desk was super helpful and friendly giving us options on our room upgrades. He was happy to show us some options available to us. Sometimes people in his role are just not helpful, and also flat out not honest. He was straightforward, friendly, and helpful which was a breath of fresh air. We spent most of our time at the beach and activities pool. My advice is to get to the pool early, maybe before breakfast, and put down your towels and things. We got to the pool late on our first day, and there were no beach chairs. One of the employees there (I wish I wrote down his name) happily brought over 4 loungers from the beach and put them by the pool for us, and I tipped him $5 for being so helpful. If you need a pool chair — just ask. The activities pool was great fun with a swim up bar, and the E-Team keeping things fun. Kudos to Ingrid and Ricky for being so fun and personable in leading the fun and games. One day featured arial artists that setup in and over the activities pool, and they worked so hard and put on a tremendous show. Another day featured a performance by some break dancers who performed some out-of-this world moves and displays of strength. Yes, there is seaweed and the staff rakes up a lot of it every day and buries it. Yes, there are sections that are rocky. Beach combing for shells can be very rewarding, and it’s pretty easy to grab some snorkel gear and head 30-40 yards off the beach and see some fish and coral in shallow water. During our visit, the sea turtles would come up to the beach in the middle of the night to lay eggs, and some nests were also hatching during this season. Great fun, but be respectful of the local laws surrounding these endangered creatures. The hotel staff go out of their way to protect them from people, flashlights, flash photography, and other things that disrupt their reproduction habits. The staff at the swimup bar were always courteous, most notably Desi. We brought our own Yeti’s to save on dish washing and trips to the bar. If you want to relax in the air conditioning, and have some delicious ice cream go to CoCo Cafe from Noon - 4pm daily. There is also a smoothie bar with limited hours that is kind of hidden, but worth seeking out. The spa was excellent. Yes the treatments are expensive, but we do the hydrotherapy circuits. If you haven’t tried it — it’s amazing. The spa staff were all friendly and welcoming. The locker rooms well-appointed with showers and toiletries if you want to clean up before dinner. The restaurants were mostly incredible, save the Seaside Grill for dinner. Just not my favorite on many dimensions, but great outdoor location on the beach. World Cafe is my “go to” for breakfast and sometimes a buffet lunch. The staff behind the grill will gladly make custom eggs, scrambles, and omelettes for you and they are delicious. The hostess would wipe down the table with bleach any time our peanut allergy guest was eating there, and on the first day the manager pointed out any dishes that were unsafe. So courteous! One day at CoCo Cafe we saw the Food and Beverage Manager and the General Manager grabbing a coffee and talking about their tasks. I told them how awesome some of the restaurant GM’s had been, and how delicious some of the food has been. They were very appreciative and happy to chat, even though I was interrupting them at work. El Patio is always a favorite, and the food here was superb. We had a large group of 8, and the restaurant GM was very kind in accommodating our large party on a demanding night that featured 1 hour wait times. The wait flew by as we got drinks from the nearby bar, and chatted and relaxed in the evening air. Portofino was one of our favorite restaurants. One night the GM told us to come back for a special dinner, and asked us what kind of food we like. He assembled an incredible meal made from dishes from the various restaurants. He also did a table side preparation of muscles that were the best I’ve ever had. The chef grilled up a delicious assortment of steaks, fish, shrimp, and calamari that wowed all of us. My only wish was that I could eat more. That evening we met Daniel, the GM of the sushi restaurant and Hibachi grill. We told him that we were eating at his restaurant the next night. Daniel invited us to come to the sushi restaurant for appetizers before our Habachi reservation. Luis was our amazing server, and upon discovering that we were from Texas prepared a special Habanero soy dipping sauce for us. We turned in our menus, and put our faith in Luis and Daniel to bring a custom platter of whichever sushis they recommended. It was as good, or better, than any sushi we have had in the US. Luis followed us to the Hibachi to serve us there as well, along with Cayetano who did an excellent job. Francisco was our hibachi chef, and he was both entertaining as well as an incredible chef. Another incredible dinner that highlighted our trip. We missed the outdoor fiesta on the plaza, because we had that incredible dinner at Portofino booked. But I saw the preparations and the food, which all looked amazing. I was sorry to miss that. The bellmen were super helpful and check in and check out. Our maid Elvira (never saw her) always seemed to have the beds made or turned down magically when we got back to our room. Checkout was very odd. We arrived at the main lobby 45 minutes ahead of the time of our van arriving just to check out and relax before a long van ride. Our luggage was at the curb, we checked out, and were given our checkout cards (needed by the bellman). Our van arrived and as we were preparing to head to the airport, a front desk person was trying to tell us that he double checked our reservation and we owe more money to the hotel. We had him call the front desk manager Jorge, who was trying to explain to our friends that we were traveling with that the ages of their children were not correct. Which is odd since they took a copy of their kids passport 7 days ago, and said nothing then. They also said nothing when we paid the final bill and received the checkout card. Our friends asked them to print a detailed bill on paper, and show them the discrepancy, and to do it quickly because we had a flight to catch. Why had they waited 45 minutes for our ground transportation to arrive before addressing this? The printed bill was not our friends account, but OUR account. We literally just walked out on them and got in the van. We were out of time for monkey business and had to get to the airport. All in all a fantastic stay marred by just a few very strange incidents. We highly recommend staying here!

Just returned from a fun and relaxing trip to Dreams Tulum. Everything exceeded our expectations. Resort grounds were well maintained and beautiful. we stayed in a premium junior suite and though not as big as I was hoping it was still great for out stay. Room was clean and well maintained. We had 2 issues with our toliet and they sent someone right away to fix it. The pools and beach were all very nice. They could use new chairs but other than that everything was amazing. Restaurants were all great. We loved the mexican night. My kids (10 & 6) used the Explorers club only once because they were renovating but they loved it and I think the new water park is a great addition. The service everywhere you went was impeccable and really made this trip so amazing. We loved the pool & beach bartenders especially Ivan, Daniel and Limberth. All went out of their way to make this a great trip. The activities staff is also a huge reason we loved this place so much. Ricky and the others spend their days doing so many fun activities and making sure everyone is having a blast. We loved the zumba on the beach and also the night activities they planned. Ingrid was also wonderful and my girls loved seeing her. Overall this place is fantastic for a relaxing, fun family vacation. I would highly recommend it and can't wait to return.

SERVICE: First I want to say the service in the Preferred beach area was exceptional. Manuel and Mario are amazing, we were lucky enough to have them every day our entire trip! David and Eduardo are also awesome and provided excellent service. BEACH: The beach at the resort is beautiful and well maintained. For even better swimming, take a 10 minute walk down to the public beach! Wish we would have discovered this earlier in our trip. There is a great spot with no reef or seaweed and the waves were perfect! Crystal clear water, amazing!!! And no one was there, just a few people here and there. ROOM: We upgraded to swimout. Room was very nice. Bed was super comfortable. Negatives were a couple days did not have hot water or it was lukewarm. Safe did not work. Mini bar doesn’t have much. FOOD: We liked El Patio the best, the dinner was delicious! There were Mexican and Caribbean buffets on 2 nights that were very good. The world buffet was mediocre we started eating at the ala Carte restaurants only. Hibachi there was very little seasoning, portions were extremely small (child size) and no yum yum or ginger sauces, no noodles, and no butter was used on the rice or veggies. All of the fish I had at El Patio, Caribbean night, seaside grill and the Asian restaurant was very good. SUMMARY: If beach is your #1 priority, you will like this resort. Hard to find good resort beaches on the Cancun side. Walk to the public beach or short car ride to the ruins beach which is beautiful. If food is your #1 priority, I’d recommend Paradisus in Playa del Carmen. Beach there is not as good but food is the bomb!!! Overall, a good trip!!!
