We had a pretty poor experience to be honest. Arrived fine, we had the honeymoon suite, which was at best 7/10. The bed was actually broken and took me to check another rooms bed to figure that out. You can't adjust the air con, and it blows right down onto the bed. Wife gets sick - not a good start. Said Honeymoon suite has a water view (as you would expect) but is right on the pool - and they run a pseudo nightclub til 1am everynight. The walls and windows are paper thin - literally no chance of sleep. Ok - so at this point they are struggling to get to average, anyway, then the safe locked our stuff in their and wouldn't work - 24 hours no money to go anywhere - they had to get the head of security to come and sort it out. They sell timeshare to you really badly and quite overtly which isnt great. When we arrived - all they did was rave about the italian restaurant. I am from Australia, and I can safely say that you can make pasta better at home with packet and a can. It was barely editable. They say drinks and food are included - but wine isn't - which considering the price was ludicrous. If I were to go again I would eat the mexican every night - it is easily the best food there -and it is excellent. Service amazing in that part of the hotel as well. Anyway after the horrible first 3 nights in the honeymoon suite - we asked to moved to a different room - and they did obligingly. To be fair the concierge was very helpful - he literally started to get worried every time I saw him because he couldnt believe our luck. So in the new room we had the swim up pool which was nice, it was heaps quieter and really good, problem was we didnt realise it was actually a room for 3. We were joined on our 2nd night in that room by Mickey. Mickey the mouse. Who thought he should be having some of the chocolate we had stashed in one of our bags. When I went to see the concierge he was literally white. I think he thought I was going to kill him. They were very nice, gave us bottles of wine and whatever, but all of this led me to believe that the quality controls in this place are poor. It couldnt be that we got that unlucky, it would be that many people who stay don't really stay in 5 star very often because these guys were not up to scratch. 2 stars. 1 star for the service - they do try hard and nothing was too much to ask. 1 star for the mexican restaurant. Thats it.

The Entertainment staff at this resort are second to none. They go out of their way all ours of the day and night to interact with customers whether it be beach volleyball, or at the pool. They take pride in their evening shows which were well received. Also I would like to acknowledge the staff at the beach who constantly attend to customers needs for drinks and even snacks. They were all very friendly and worked hard to make everyone happy. I have travelled the Mayan regularly and stayed at about a dozen different resorts, I would rate the food as average. We ate in both a la cartes and buffet. The breakfasts were good and had variety. I did not really appreciate being forced to eat outdoors on about 3 occasions as the buffet option would not be available on those nights. It meant having to sit at tables with strangers - many who could not communicate as there was a language barrier being from other countries. It was somewhat awkward. The resort is kept very clean, and the staff all extend themselves happily. Something need s to be done to correct issues with the door locks. Ours did not work on 3 occasions (different days) it was more than an annoyance for sure. Good walking beach going to the south - you can literally walk to Tulum. The swimming area at the hotel is very small - as quite a bit of rock/coral elsewhere if the ocean is your preference.

The whole experience was wonderful! Beautiful resort and everyone was so friendly and helpful!! The food was amazing. We especially enjoyed the sea side grill. We also enjoyed the spa with relaxing massages. Hate that we had to leave but looking forward to returning!

This was our forth visit to Dreams Tulum and we will be going back. The property is beautiful and the rooms are spacious. We travel with out young daughter (7) and she loves this resort as well. There are plenty of activities for all ages or plenty of relaxation if that is what you are looking for. Unlike other resorts we have stayed at, it is easy to find a spot by the pool or the beach.

To me, this hotel was just okay. I was immediately turned off when we arrived and the second we checked in, when we just wanted to get in the pool, eat, and get the plane smell off of us, they had someone try and sell us a membership card for their hotel branch. We sat there for 15 minutes listening to his script and it was just annoying. They say they renovated in 2013 but they definitely didn't renovate everything. We stayed on the third floor in the privileged members area and we had to take the stairs every time we wanted to get up to our room because the elevator was DISGUSTING. It was old and dirty and smelled AWFUL, I can't even describe it. The hallways and the stairwells themselves also smelled like wet dirty bathroom. There was no air circulating (no AC or fans) so it was just hot, muggy, and smelly. The room itself was okay but the AC was loud, it leaked water, the sliding door was old and hard to open and the balcony was small, buggy, and nothing special. As I mentioned we stayed in the privileged club, which meant we could hang out in a special roped off beach area and sit in special places and drink special drinks. However, no one ever asked us "hey, are you in the privileged club?" So we could've just paid the normal rate and still gotten the special privileges. So, yeah, of you want to do all the privileged club things, no one's going to question you. Overall the food was great (the steak at the seaside grill was the best I've ever had in my life), the drinks were good, the staff was great and the property was good. I just think there are a lot of newer, more modern, better places to stay in tulum. I just learned my lesson and I'll never stay in an older, """"renovated"""" resort again.
