Reviews for Turtle Island

Turtle delight

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

From the first greeting on the mainland and the first welcome song as we arrived by seaplane, we knew we were somewhere special. Go there if you want to feel part of a Fijian village, be immersed in Fijian culture, music and beauty. Do as much or as little as you want but don’t miss the daily private beach picnics, cocktails at sunset and the food which is either grown upon on the island or caught daily in the blue lagoon. Time of our life

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Turtle Island stays with you in quiet, unexpected ways.I remember arriving as if the world had gently exhaled and set me down somewhere softer. It starts with the people. Not just friendliness ,but their smiles weren’t hurried or practiced; they felt like something passed down, something ancestral.Smiles that don’t ask for anything back. Conversations that linger. The sense that you’re not just passing through, but briefly belonging. There’s a softness in how people treat each other—and you—that makes everything else feel safer, slower, more human. You could feel the weight of care in the way they said “bula,” as if it meant more than hello—as if it meant you are safe here. Then comes the privacy. Privacy wasn’t something you asked for. It was given, naturally, like shade under a palm. You could walk the length of a beach and feel like the only person alive, yet never lonely. Space to think, to breathe, to exist without noise pressing in. You can hear nothing but your own footsteps and the tide folding in on itself. No rush, no expectation. Just time, stretching. Peace isn’t something you look for there—it’s already built into everything. It’s in the rhythm of the waves, the way mornings arrive gently instead of abruptly, the way evenings dissolve into soft colors. Even the air feels calm. The beaches don’t try too hard. They don’t need to. Clear water that shifts from pale blue to deep turquoise, sand that stays cool in the shade of palms, and horizons that seem endless. You don’t just look at the ocean—you fall into it, mentally and emotionally.Barefoot, always barefoot—the sand soft and warm, like it remembered every step that came before yours. There comes the song and their voices rising together, unpolished, honest. No stage, no performance—just people singing because that’s what you do when you’re full. The melodies stayed with me long after the sound faded, like echoes settling into memory. Flowers were everywhere, but never arranged to impress. They simply existed—bright, fragrant, effortless. Tucked behind ears, resting on tables, drifting to the ground. Beauty without intention. Meals appeared where you happened to be—on the beach, beneath shade, by candlelight—never interrupting the moment, only deepening it. There was a sense that nothing was rushed, nothing overdone. Every dish felt considered, balanced, and shared with intention. Eating there wasn’t just nourishment—it was another way the island said, we’re looking after you. And then there was the bure mama—it wasn’t just service; it was something deeper. A kind of quiet guardianship. The way someone remembered how you took your tea. The way a path was lit before you needed to see it. The way care showed up before you could name the need. The amount of care… that’s what lingers most. Not in grand gestures, but in the accumulation of small, precise kindnesses. It shows up in small ways—how someone remembers your name, how they check if you’re comfortable, how they take pride in making sure you’re okay. It never feels forced. Even the songs stay with you. It felt like the island itself had decided, long before I arrived, that I would be taken care of—and everyone there simply honored that decision. And when I left, it didn’t feel like leaving a place. It felt like stepping out of a memory that was still gently continuing without me.

Best Resort Ever

We were completely amazed with how welcoming and warm the staff was from the moment we got off the plane until we left the country. Every single person was wonderful. The beauty of Turtle Island is second to one and we enjoyed the activities while there. The crab hunt was an unexpected fun time.

Vacation of a Lifetime at Turtle Island in Fiji

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Our trip to Turtle Island was incredible—from the journey itself to the beautiful accommodations and the amazing people who took such great care of us. Our mama was truly wonderful. It was an experience we’ll never forget. We went deep‑sea fishing, hunted crab, relaxed on our own private beach, and shared meals and cocktails with new friends from around the world at the community table and social events.

Trust the reviews! Turtle Island, the Fijian Staff and their culture are AMAZING!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Just returned from a 9 night trip on the island and all I can say is that it was amazing in every way. The Fijian people are beautiful, happy, servant hearted people who believe family everything and the most important aspect of life. The reviews you read are 100% accurate about how amazing it is. The food, the people, culture, their traditions and how they integrate you as their own family on the island makes it one of the finest places in the world. Nearly 95% of all the food they make for their guest is procured on the island. They have a beautiful gardens, fruit trees, root crops, chickens, cows, pigs right on the island that they care for and harvest for their guests. I’m a very picky eater and loved every meal. The meals are made fresh daily and to your liking. It’s truly a work of art from their awesome chefs. The activities on the island are a ton of fun. You can choose to engage I. The activities as often as you’d like or never at all. Your choice and no pressure wither. Way. If you choose to participate, your bure momma will coordinate all of it for you. We participated often and loved the engagement with the others guests from all over the world we got to meet. The private beaches are unreal. My wife and I could t believe we had them all to ourselves daily. It truly is paradise and what makes this island so much fun. It’s the perfect amount of Privacy and communal time with other guests in our opinion. The staff are hands down what make this place what is it. They are happy and genuine. They care to get to know you. Everyone does. When we were there on the island there was 88 staff members to the 7 couples. I can say that we nearly met everyone of of them. Some of them very intimately and others who said Bula to us. The entire front of the house and back of the house staff particulates in Kava nightly and they love to sing. Their signing is beautiful and was one of our favorite things during the week. They celebrated our anniversary and made it very special. They made us a sign, a cake and sang a beautiful song to us. They care deeply about their guests. So much so that they have a morning meeting everyday to tell their entire staff about the guests and their families so everyone can get to know you better. It’s one of those places that unless you experience, no words will ever describe it accurately or for others to understand. If I could rate the island 6 stars we totally would. Just book it! Trust the amazing reviews.

We purchased a vacation to turtle island on Luxury Link, what an adventure! The most peaceful beautiful vacation ever. We read before we went that you feel like a family while you are there, and it is so true. The entire staff is calling you by your first name as soon as you step on the island. We miss our Turtle family already and we've only been back two weeks! We already bought another week at Turtle Island to use in the future and are already wishing we were there.
