Turtle Island

What can we say that hasn't already been said... We spent an amazing, blissful 6 nights at Turtle Island at the end of our 3 week honeymoon - and it was everything we could have hoped for. It was beautiful, and luxurious without being pretentious. It felt authentic and real. We truly feel like we got to chat with many of the staff and guests and were privileged to share in their culture, all while experiencing a tiny bit of luxury at the same time. We arrived to beautiful sights and beautiful singing and then spent our 6 nights basking on the island. Here's a little breakdown of our thoughts. Just as an FYI, we loved it - we will be going back and are so excited to visit our extended Turtle Island Family again. Transport: - We arrived via the Yasawa flyer, given that we were travelling up the Yasawas - a chain of islands on the west of Fiji. We planned our route so we could visit 4 islands on the way up. We were met by the Flyer with speedboat - a fun and quick way to get to Turtle Island - Captain Mike and Jim - so kind and warm from the moment we boarded the boat. When leaving, we flew out on seaplane to go back to Nadi - what an experience. Beautiful viewed the entire ride. Location/Rooms: - Turtle Island is a beautiful place. The rooms are amazing and so bright and airy. Beautiful flowers daily; water and other drinks - always clean and refreshed and so comfortable. The island itself is unreal - the most spectacular beaches, beautiful walking trails and an amazing activities team. The island is stunning - it's barefoot luxury. Literally no shoes almost all the time. We loved our bure BTW - water's edge #8. Smaller than the others, but we weren't often in our room. So central and comfortable and quick to go back and forth! Food/Drink: - Really lovely food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Each meal was fresh and spectacular - mixing high end cooking and homecooking. The curries were phenominal, the meats - amazing. Even the tacos for beach lunch - wowww! We also loved our beach picnics! We were literally never hungry as we always had amazing meals which we never skipped. The baked goods are incredible, the fresh fish, seafood and meats are amazing. And the desserts? fabulous. Each meal is better than the last. We also love that the island is so sustainable with a very high percentage of food being grown or sourced from the island and the waters around. Chickens, eggs, pork, fish/seafood, veggies, salt and honey all local. Fresh fruit in the room? yes please! Also, a lot of the meals are communal. At first, we thought we'd prefer to have dine-outs and solo meals as a couple - in the end, we couldnt wait to see the other guests during the day to chat and discuss our days. We made friends and enjoyed how lovely the shared atmosphere was. Also the team that supports service is truly wonderful and thinks of anything you may need before you do - I said I liked spicy food and each meal I had, I got with a side of delicious chopped chili peppers! Activities/Organization: - Amazing activities team who coordinated incredible daily snorkling, sunset and sunrise horseback riding, crabhunting, clam collecting, scuba diving, visiting caves, village visits, etc. We had our weekly schedule set out in advance based on our preference sheet we emailed to the team months prior. We did horseback riding twice, we snorkelled each day (WOWWWW, amazing) there was constantly beautiful music being played. Many of the guys on this team were incredible, truly helping with everything and keeping us entertained and having fun the entire time. The village visit was wonderful - so lovely to meet the ladies and children on the island - if you can, bring some candies for the kids and buy some lovely souvenirs from the village women. For daily cocktails, we went on the mountain, sunset cruise, the beach, etc - it was so amazing and a lovely moment to wrap up the day, Service: - Exceptional. Not only did we love every person we met, we truly felt like they wanted to be kind and get to know us. 6The spa was amazing - we actually had 2 massages during our 6 nights. Our sweet bure Mama, Mama Laveti, made our trip extraordinary. She truly cared in our week and helped us so much with each day from anything we needed to a hug each morning. She was wonderful and so exceptionally thorough and thoughtful with us. It felt like we were being cared for totally. The absolute best, most smiling, funniest woman. We cannot wait to be back and see her. We also need to say that the level of care, we have never experienced before. Its not just about luxury - it's about the care each individual person wanting to make your experience truly exceptional. As in most of these reviewed - we will be back. Sota Tale!

The location in atmosphere are gorgeous and too difficult to describe their beauty. The rooms were spacious well designed and comfortable. It is expensive but completely worth it. The staff is all friendly and amazing. The food was delicious! Unfortunately I am picky with allergies, but I was accommodated without question. Mana Nina (Bure Mama) was attentive, sweet & quick to figure out what we wanted & needed without us asking. Beta gave me the best massages!! I ended up having 3 with her while there because they were so amazing. Sai made the best cocktails. Philip is a generally good person that is trying to make everyone, including staff, have a smile and good day. He has a great sense of humor. I highly recommend taking part in all of the various activities. Family style meals scared me as an introvert, but they were all enjoyable. Everyone was friendly & nice. We have made long time friends from our trip there. We will return!

Turtle Island was absolutely perfect — one of the most beautiful places we have ever visited, made even more exceptional by the unsurpassed kindness and service of the wonderful people who work there. From the moment we arrived, every detail was handled with such warmth, care, and genuine hospitality. We had experienced a very long and frustrating flight delay before reaching Fiji, and the team at Turtle Island could not have been more helpful or accommodating. Their kindness immediately changed the entire tone of our trip and made us feel completely taken care of. The island itself is breathtaking, peaceful, exceptionally quiet, and beautifully maintained. Everything was spotless, and the level of attention to detail was remarkable. Somehow the staff seemed to anticipate what we might need before we even asked, while never making the experience feel intrusive. The service was personal, gracious, and effortless. There are so many wonderful people who made our stay special, but we especially want to thank Milika, Mere, Baby Nina, Eseta, Lisi, Erami, Joe, Phillip, Sama, Sai and Jim, just to name a few. Each of them contributed to making our stay unforgettable. Turtle Island is an extraordinary place, but it is the people who truly set it apart. The beauty of the island is spectacular, but the warmth, generosity, and genuine kindness of the staff are what we will remember most. We cannot recommend Turtle Island highly enough. It was a truly unforgettable experience, and we hope very much to return.

What an amazing experience! The People, Food, Room, Events, and ability to customize your experience was incredible. This was a trip that high expectations and they out performed on all fronts. Momma Wati was there to help us through our journey and she was amazing! The entire staff new our name and was invited us to be part of their family. The food was top quality and fresh every day! The room was amazing with wonderful views! The private beaches, fishing, cave exploring, walks, sunset cruise, village tour, etc...all were top experience. It was create to experience their culture, make new friends, and share stories with others. It was an experience beyond just a vacation! Will return and do it again!

Once discovered never forgotten. We discovered our corner of Paradise in Turtle Island in 2016 and just completed our 8th visit. Other than during business trips, there is no place we have ever returned to more than three times because we never found one that could sustain or exceed that initial experience. The reason being is that they exceed our expectations each time. The Turtle Island family are our favorite people, so that makes this our favorite place…our little corner of Paradise…counting down until our next trip in 2027.
