Reviews for Namale Fiji Islands Resort & Spa

Grateful for our time in this Paradise!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Bula It was great and exceeded our expectations. Food, amenities and facilities were top notch. What was incredible, and made all the difference, was the level of service by the staff (all of them). The people were extremely friendly, sincere and happy to please with any request. I put that in my feedback at the end of our vacation. Vinaka vaka levu A&M, Brisbane

Very Relaxing Spot.

Great food, service & activities. Super friendly staff; special shout out to Paul (guide) & Christian (dining). Exposure to local culture was a bonus. Very chill place, stayed only 4 nights; too short a visit. Would definitely come back and stay longer; 6-7 nights would be ideal.

30th Anniversary Relaxing & Romantic Getaway

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

My husband and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary at this resort. It was an awesome experience. The rooms, food and the drinks were all top-notch. We spent several days relaxing at the spa, which was also amazing as they set up a very special massage and pedicure service for us. The staff was exceptionally welcoming and made us feel right at home. I would definitely recommend this resort and I’m looking forward to returning. * it’s the tropics, so you will see ants, spiders and a geico — but sparingly. They sprayed for mosquitoes, but where still a few floating around. They provide you with tropical strength bug spray and repellent in your room and throughout the resort.

Truly the trip of a lifetime!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

Namale was our final stop on our trip to Fiji. We had high expectations coming here, and our experience was truly above and beyond what we had dreamed of. This is a true 5star resort in every aspect. The grounds were immaculately maintained, our suite was very private, romantic and had a plunge pool with stunning views, the food was top notch and the staff were out of this world. They made us feel so welcomed and pampered from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. The activities team was amazing - especially Christine who went out of her way to take us on incredible snorkelling adventures. Looking forward to coming back one day!

Pros and Cons of Namale

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 months ago

The biggest downside of Namale is there is no swimmable beach whatsoever. There is a small grassy area with several lounge chairs & a hammock, but there is no sand, just craggy rocks and dead coral which prevents you from getting in the water. At low tide we were able to wade in up to our ankles and during the guided reef walk there was nothing to see because the reef is dead and there is very, very little sea life in evidence. Because divers had reserved the resort’s boat for their excursions, sadly there were no trips to the sandbar, and yes we could have booked this with an operator in town and pay double to price Namale charged, it was too much of a hassle to be bothered. Another disappointment was that in the bures, only the bedrooms were air conditioned. We were in Duavata, which was one of the largest and most expensive ones with multiple rooms inside, and it got quite warm inside the bure once we walked out of the bedroom. We also had a dining room in a separate hut, and inside that, there was no air conditioning at all. Except for walking through to go to the second bathroom, we were unable to utilize it at all because of the heat. We booked Duavata, which was way above our budget, and one of the reasons was because it had both inside and outside showers. Sadly for the first 2 days, there was no hot water in either of the 2 outdoor showers, and when we spoke to the ladies at the front desk, they informed us that those showers were unheated. This was a tremendous disappointment to us both. However, when I spoke to Nowdla, the general manager, she informed us that the showers would be fixed immediately and we would indeed have the hot water we required. Sadly only one shower was able to be repaired, with the second one requiring new equipment which would not arrive until after our departure. One has to question why the showers were not tested and repaired prior to our arrival. Duavata needs some love and updating, and the ants can be a bit of a nuisance. The food was far from 5 star, and during the first few days, it was barely adequate. The picnic and room service menus needs much more expanding and offers limited choices. However after speaking to Nowdla, the general manager, she set up a consultation between the chef and us, and the result was that it was vastly improved. Do not hesitate to speak up and let the staff know about ANYTHING which is lacking or that you desire because they will accommodate you in any way they possibly can. You want lobster, they will get it for you. When we voiced that we loved the mud crabs with a sweet chili sauce, the chef made it for us again, with the original recipe which was fabulous, but also with a special Fijian preparation which the ladies in the dining room recommended. Likewise, the bartenders Kevin and Errol made our favorite cocktails to accompany it all. In fact before we departed, the recipes we loved were printed up for us and mason jars were filled and sealed for us to take home our favorite tastes of Namale. That is truly exceptional service. And there lies Namale biggest asset, their staff. They are by far the friendliest, most accommodating and friendly group of people we have ever encountered. Within hours of our arrival, everyone knew us by our first name and greeted and treated you as if we were family. I know this sounds trite, but they were all so genuine that you cannot help but be swept away by their charming ways. Never before during all our years of travel have we written down more commendations for more staff members. The spa is exceptional and during our 4 couples’ treatments Sivi and Dee were amazing. The ability to have champagne and snacks delivered for us so that we could enjoy them while in our lavender scented thermal pools, or on our oceanfront deck with incredible views out to the ocean as we received our foot rubs, was incredible. They decorated the entire spa with flowers and candles for us thereby creating the most heavenly and romantic atmosphere. I do not want to give away too many secrets, but Namale offers so many intimate and sensual experiences, that even though we were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary, we felt like honeymooners. So in spite of all its flaws, Namale offers a singular and magical experience. We cannot recommend going there enough because it is a once in a lifetime adventure and we can guarantee that fall in love all over again.

Apart from the beautiful grounds at Namale, it really is the staff, their hospitality and natural kindness that made this a very special vacation.
