We loved this place. We stayed in the treehouse and it has been one of the best experiences we had. You are very close to nature, you sleep and feel the breeze of the sea and hear the crickets. If you are afraid to bugs is not the place for you. We were not bitten by anything and we only saw few mosquitos in the room but the beds are covered with a net, they provide lighters so you can see the path to the bathroom at night. Yoga classes were great with a special designed platform for yoga in front of the see. Food is delicious, the chef is great. He prepares two or 3 dishes for every meal and most of the ingredients are organic and produced in the hotel. We can't wait to go back!

Playa Viva is exceptional. The place itself is amazingly beautiful and laid back. The food is off the charts delicious. And the staff are second to none. We were a family of 5 with 3 small kids. It's was the best disconnected/reconnecting family vacation we could have imagined. The only thing I'd note is that the currents at the beach are strong. So keep it in the shallows. This comes from someone with lots of water/beach/surfing experience. But other than that, this place really is unique. We would definitely visit again.

It was so quiet that hummingbirds visited the large hibiscus flowers blooming just off my front porch as I did yoga. If four little boys got into the hot tub and ran in the same direction, singing a silly song, the hot tub formed a perfect whirlpool. The tide pools were full of enough shells to satisfy the most enthusiastic shell hunters. The waves were strong enough to return an old coconut to you, even if you threw it as far as you could. The lounge chairs were perfect for reading and taking a snooze in, especially if you stayed up a little later than you planned playing Bananagrams. The lazy swings underneath the palapa, were the perfect perch for staying out of the sun but still being part of the fun. It was so far from a city that the trees were full of iguanas and birds and lizards and the paths were full of hermit crabs. The beach was so open and wide and empty that when the sun sets you think it might be showing off just for you. The beach was so close, that instead of hearing the whistling rise and fall of my son's breath at night, I heard the dull roar of the waves hitting the sand. It was so far away from the nearby lights of the beach resorts that when my husband and I went out to the beach to see the stars, we could see the little stars that cluster in between the familiar bright stars, like faint clouds made of star dust.

Beyond the stunning beach front setting, exquisite natural architecture, and amazing healthy meals 3 times a day, what I loved was the quiet. No loud music, no kids screaming, NO ONE on the beach for miles. It feels like your own private paradise. The staff is incredible with professional yoga teachers and massage therapists at your beck and call. The chefs care about cooking exactly as you like it (there's only a few cottages) Even though the offer plenty of activities and excursions my friend and I never wanted to leave and do anything but relax. The most unique part is the resort is part of a turtle sanctuary and every morning they safely release hundreds of baby turtles into the sea. Such an amazing experience. Worth every cent! Enjoy!

I went here for a long weekend with my husband and a bunch of friends and we all just had such a wonderful time. We felt welcome and home the first moment we walked in and were greeted by their wonderful staff (and their dog Viva) who told us about their environmentally friendly practices and activities in the area. All huts were simple and their open lay out (you can open all windows) made us feel even closer to nature. We definitely recommend staying in their signature tree house to feel extra special.
