Denver Guide-To-Go

Destination(s): Denver

Denver is a vibrant city full of art, culture and a nationally recognized emerging music scene. First time visitors will want to see highlights such as Red Rocks Ampitheater and Park, once considered one of the seven natural wonders of the world. You can hike or bike Red Rocks Park's many trails or simply wander around the amazing monoliths that cup the ampitheater like loving hands. Scream down a mountainside on a luge-like track at Heritage Square and if travelling with kids, take them to enjoy watching indoor cliff diving and other interactive entertainment at Casa Bonita.

Step back in time by staying at the Brown Palace Hotel in the heart of downtown Denver. Make reservations to enjoy Afternoon Tea or evening cocktails in their elegant atrium. Walk over to the 16th Street pedestrian mall and hop on and off the free shuttles to sample unique shopping and dining experiences across the downtown area. Feel like stretching your legs? Check out a bicycle at one of the many kiosks located througout the city center and explore on your own!

Spend your second day strolling through world class museum exhibits, or indulge your wild side with water sports and extreme rides at the oldest continually operating amusement park west of the Mississippi.

Live music is smoking hot in Denver. With more than 40 music venues and 60 mixed-use venues, there is live music for any taste available 7 days a week. Find your new favorite band today! read more about Denver Guide-To-Go

In 2006, the Denver Art Museum expanded to a total of 350,000 square feet and did it with flair, connecting the original structure with the newly constructed Frederic C. Hamilton Building across the street. The contemporary exterior with enclosed walkway is strikingly situated over 13th Avenue. Always known for its permanent collection of American Indian and pre-Columbian art, the museum now holds 60,000 works and continues to attract additional temporary exhibitions—from historic baseball photos to borrowed treasures from The Louvre. Interactive displays, tours and children's activities are marks of a venue dedicated to making art more accessible and relatable to the general public. Annual wine-focused "DAM Uncorked" serves as both a fundraiser and must-attend event. Generally, museum gift shops are a treat and the one located inside the Denver Art Museum is no exception—as is its onsite, creatively casual restaurant Palettes. read more about Denver Art Museum

The Denver Museum of Nature & Science has always lured fascinating temporary exhibitions—including Titanic treasures and Egyptian artifacts. But its permanent displays are intriguing as well, always interactive, educational and entertaining. Here, visitors can learn about space, wildlife, ancient mummies and other workings of the world. Discovery Zone keeps younger children occupied with hands-on activities that include dressing up like a dinosaur and digging for fossils. The gigantic-screened IMAX Theater is next door, as is Gates Planetarium for out-of-this-world views. The entire complex is located in central Denver's City Park with welcomed free parking…along with plenty of trees, ponds and terrific views of the Rocky Mountains. read more about Denver Museum of Nature and Science
