We stayed in Villa Opal from April 7 - 18, 2018. We had an amazing time. We were travelling with another couple and there was plenty of room in Opal. The villa is central to the pool with a great view of the ocean and other villas nearby. We spent a good deal of time on the wonderful balcony/veranda taking in the views and relaxing. Having the pool nearby was also a bonus. The grounds are groomed every day making the place even more beautiful. I would definitely stay in Opal again! Alexa in the main office was extremely helpful, checking in with us and seeing if there was anything we needed. She arranged the chefs to cook for us one night to celebrate a birthday and our anniversaries. The food was so good - fresh and plentiful!! Alexa also helped us arrange masseuses to come one afternoon. She was also always available to answer any questions we may have had. La Perla del Caribe is a wonderful place to stay in Belize and I highly recommend it and the Opal Villa. We hope to come back again in the future!

La Perla is a beautiful, quiet area north of San Pedro Town. We stayed in the Opal villa and we had an extremely relaxing time. La Perla had arranged transportation for us from the water taxi and Jorge (the taxi driver) also stopped at the grocery store for us to stock up on food before we went to our villa. Jorge also arranged a driver to pick us up in Belize city to take us to the airport as we were running short on time for our flight. The villa grounds were kept very neat and it was nice to walk out of the villa to sand and have the pool right at our front door. The people in Belize are extremely friendly and very helpful. Everyone spoke English so there was no language barrier. I can't wait to go back. Alexa was extremely helpful with any questions we had regarding tours or directions. We booked the chefs to come into our villa to cook our dinner one night. It was an awesome meal and a lot of food for leftovers.

We stayed in the Villa Emerald the end of February and had an amazing time. The resort grounds were maintained very well, and our Villa was perfect. Loved the location of the Emerald, just steps from the ocean and unobstructed views from the large patio. The only negative of the beach was all the sea grass, the resort workers worked hard to remove it, but there was always some out there. For us, the beauty of the Villa, the resort grounds and service made up for that negative. We also enjoyed the kayaks daily, very fun to paddle out a ways and snorkel! We would go back in a heartbeat and have been missing it ever since we left!

LaPerla is a unique, tranquil, comfortable and safe haven on the north side of Ambergris, Caye. We found our villa offering great space, wonderful views of the ocean, outdoor patios and screened in porches to enjoy the warm tropical breeze all day and night, simply a magical place. All the property help was extremely responsive and cheerful to help us with all the needs of our party of 7. How blessed the Belzian people are with their gifts of tropical blue waters, sun and the escape from the hustle of every day city life.

Felix and his staff are amazing, helpful with any needs, booking outings, transportation to/from the airport and recommendations. The villa was beautiful with great patios and big/open floor plan. A few issues we were not prepared for that lead to the three star rating. Apparently February & March are when the sargasso (type of seaweed) overtakes the majority of the beaches on the island making them un-swimmable. I realize your can't control Mother Nature and the staff did their best to clear it and keep it at bay. Over the 10 days we stayed the pool was closed for 4 of those days for some type of maintenance - no one could ever really tell us what was going on or when to expect it to be closed so we could plan other activities in advance for those days. With four young kids it's a tough pill to swallow when the beach and pool are out for a beach vacation for multiple days. Coming from a mountain climate I'm not used to worrying about scorpions. Half way through the trip we found two in the downstairs bedrooms where the kids were sleeping. A note to visitors to keep towels, bags, clothing off the floor might help those with kids who aren't used to worrying about dangers of providing scorpions a perfect hiding spot. I realize construction is different outside of the US but the guardrail in the patio is tough if you have little kiddos as it is split rail with very large openings. My son who is very active and adventurous couldn't resist trying to get close to the edge and play on the railing which was tough as you really get no down time if you have kids under 3 or so. I read a lot about the cost of the island before coming and I downplayed it...we live in a high end resort community and have visited other islands so I thought I had an inkling of what to expect...I was wrong...I have never been anywhere as expensive as the prepared. Golf carts are a must. Secret beach is great, get there early. Do the majority of your grocery shopping at SuperBuy in town - it's like a island version of Costco.
