Amazing place in a cozy village with a lovely service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed September 9, 2019

A spectacular site with a great history and an amazing contrast between the classic cozy old part and the modern design new one. The hotel and its set decoration is beautifull and very well conserved taking in account its long history and age. The restaurant is possibly the most incredible place of the hotel, as it is build in an ancient winery and is very well accompanied with the backround music, and of course, the food served was delicious and with a very appropiate price quality ratio together with a wide variety of wines. The service was very kind and helpfull with all our demands. Thank you very much, Greetings from Kiel, Germany

Very enjoyable stay in a hotel with great character

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed November 16, 2018

We stayed here for two nights in August and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. This is not a uniform and regular hotel - the building is old with stairways, twists and turns. Room numberings are potentially confusing and navigation is not at all obvious but these actually add to its charm. The room that we had was on two levels with the bed being on a mezzanine arrangement - this could create some difficuties for some people but we found it to be charming. The bed was comfortable; there was plenty of space to sit; there was a fridge; and the bathroom was good. Where the hotel did excel was in the food that we enjoyed. We were a part of a group of English people, most of whom had no Spanish at all (we do), and some of whom were quite ignorant of Spanish customs. The waiting staff were patient and tolerant beyond belief in dealing with a quite awkward group. the food that they served was really very, very good, created with flair and imagination and all of it quite delicious. This was served with some quite palatable local wine We enjoyed two four-course dinners and two breakfasts in the restaurant and every one of them was most enjoyable. The town in which the hotel is situated is interesting and attractive - one of many such places almost hidden away in Castille y Leon. Overall a very enjoyable stay and my wife and I have plans to visit the region in future years when we will come to this hotel again.

Amazing food and wine

Not much people in october, But amazing small town with really nice people. The hotel was very nice, with comfortable beds and clean bathrooms. As an interior designer I would say they need to fix it a bit. The food was amazing, I recommend the sirloin steak! And of course the red wine was great! My personal favourite was mucy crianza.

Interesting!!

A very interesting hotel in a really amazing little village close to Palencia. First, the village - really quaint, and some generally very interesting museums (particularly the medical one), and a castle to visit. However - beware, because on the two occasions we disappeared out to get a bite to eat (once at 3pm and once at 9.30pm) and absolutely nothing in the town was open - take rations! Secondly, the hotel - very interesting, and pleasant, if not quite what we were expecting. The room was fine, if a little small, and the majority of the staff were friendly. However, it was a little odd in more ways than one - there were some comfortable chairs in the conservatory, but we kept having to turn down some insistent and very annoyingly loud piped music to be able to read and the temperature in there was either red hot or freezing. Breakfast was served in the modern conference centre which adjoins (and, was incidentally, very good), but the reception area looked like something out of granny's house. Nothing really wrong with all that, and we had a very pleasant stay, but just a little bit odd..... The restaurant on the other hand - wow - stunning (see separate review....)

In the midle of nowhere

Located in old building in village of only 600 inhabitants this hotel offers true casa rurale expirience. There is nothing much to see in the village, so I could recommend this hotel for romantic getaway or escape from daily crowd. Also enjoy very good restaurant in casa - food is excellent, only sellection of white wines was poor
