With a flawless design and a spectacular setting, Alila Villas Uluwatu marries Balinese culture with modern design. Perched atop a magnificent plateau abutting limestone cliffs, the ocean below bellows with the sound of crashing waves and creates a melodic echo with every crest. There are 84 sustainably-designed villas concealing interiors that are contemporary and uncluttered, with overtones of traditional Balinese textures including rattan and stone. The multi-room villas, each with its own pool, radiate with luxury and boast such appointments as private bars, outdoor dining nooks, private cabanas, and stylish baths with both indoor and outdoor showers. There is also 24-hour butler service, which adds an effortless element to your stay.

I stayed in three bedroom hill side villa. Staff were helpful and polite, but my expectations for room cleanliness was better, water in decoration pools was very dirty. Coffee maker was completely broken in my room. After returning home I got a message about one mistic unpaid room service bill, causing lots of time loss and problems to pay it.

The setting is undeniably its strongest asset, but unfortunately the food and service were mediocre and inconsistent. One particularly disappointing experience was with the laundry service: my clothes were collected promptly on arrival, but were only returned on my departure day,and alarmingly, they came back still dirty. For a property positioned at this level of luxury, attention to detail and service recovery should be far better. In summary, Alila Villas Uluwatu excels in location and architecture, but the operational execution, especially service and dining—fell short of what one would reasonably expect from a resort of this calibre.

We stayed 2 night at the three-bedroom cliff pool villa C1 in Sep2025. Coming from Como shambhala and Capella this trip, and 2 Bali Amans last trip, it'd take something to wow us. And wow us it did, the moment you stepped off the hotel car into the lobby, we were stunned by beautiful pools and cliff views at the hotel. It felt somewhat quite busy and crowded, but as we stayed in our only villa with a 22-metre pool, that was negated. Not sure the same can be said about the one-bedroom villas, as the hotel seemed to be at full capacity and there were outside guests for dinner too. Our butler, Buana, again was a top professional in his trade. He was always hovering outside of the villa, whenever we went out, he would magically appear to assist us with whatever it is. From arranging breakfast in villa, to dining experiences, to securing tables at the sunset cabana, Buana took care of it effortlessly. The food here was really good - we had dinner at the Italian restaurant and we enjoyed it, albeit a bit pricey. The in-villa BBQ was outstanding, it was probably the best in-villa BBQ food we had and the F&B manager was also present to chat with us about wines and the efforts Alila Uluwatu has put in in the selections, training and development of the property. All in all we had a perfect stay here, and are eager to try out the 3-bedroom hilltop villa next time round. If you are after a 3-bedroom villa, it's a much nicer place to stay than Aman Villas Nusa Dua. I am a big fan of Aman still, but i truly do believe this is a far better option down south to either start or cap off your Bali journey.

The Alila Uluwatu exceeded our expectations. Our entire experience was very memorable. It is a beautiful luxurious resort with nature experience.

Amazing property even after 16 years. Beautiful views and awesome room. Dodi has been there since the start and it’s the great staff like him that makes the experience elevated. He gave us multiple buggy rides, a tour of the 3 bedroom villas and also a departure gift. Wish we had spent more time and stayed longer on property but we had activities almost every day in Bali. Photographer Andy also gave me a quick photo shoot and one complimentary photo and no pushy sales as he knew I had taken many photos.

“The Alila Uluwatu is a truly gorgeous property with breathtaking views. It was the perfect end to our honeymoon. I strongly recommend the hotel for a private getaway for couples although there were some families present at the time we were there. Definitely a very pricey hotel. The saying ""if you have to ask then you probably can't afford it"" I think fits well. However with views and luxury behind them I figure one shouldn't complain. Really miss waking up to seeing my private pool, cabana and the blue skies and seas of the Indian ocean sprawled out before me. Service couldn't be flawed either. Smiles everywhere accompanied by genuine interest to make sure all was well with meals, spa, rooms etc."
