With a flawless design and a spectacular setting, Alila Villas Uluwatu marries Balinese culture with modern design. Perched atop a magnificent plateau abutting limestone cliffs, the ocean below bellows with the sound of crashing waves and creates a melodic echo with every crest. There are 84 sustainably-designed villas concealing interiors that are contemporary and uncluttered, with overtones of traditional Balinese textures including rattan and stone. The multi-room villas, each with its own pool, radiate with luxury and boast such appointments as private bars, outdoor dining nooks, private cabanas, and stylish baths with both indoor and outdoor showers. There is also 24-hour butler service, which adds an effortless element to your stay.

Our stay at Alila Villas Uluwatu was an absolute highlight and an experience we will not forget. The hotel is impressively located on the cliffs of Uluwatu, offering breathtaking views of the ocean. From the moment you arrive, there is an immediate wow effect – created by both the spectacular setting and the striking architecture of the property. This continues when entering the villas, which impress with their modern design, generous layout, and complete privacy. The pool and outdoor shower are truly stunning. The service is of the highest standard – attentive, professional, yet pleasantly discreet at all times. A particular highlight is the breakfast at Cire Restaurant, which is served exclusively à la carte. The selection, especially of local dishes, is outstanding in both variety and quality. Enjoying breakfast by the pool with a view of the ocean is the perfect way to start the day. The Warung restaurant in the evening is equally impressive, offering excellent local cuisine at the highest level in a relaxed and stylish atmosphere. There is also direct access to the ocean – after about a 10-minute walk down approximately 600 steps, you reach the coastline. The effort is absolutely worth it to watch the powerful waves or explore the beach at low tide. Swimming is only possible under calm conditions or at low tide. Nearby, the Savaya Club can be reached within a few minutes and is definitely worth a visit. The hotel also offers individually tailored excursions, including private drivers who can be booked flexibly by the hour or for a full day. Transfers can also be conveniently arranged through the hotel at fair prices. Traffic conditions in Bali can be challenging, so it’s important to allow sufficient time even for short distances (for example, around one hour to the airport for just 16 km). The nearby Uluwatu Temple is also well worth a visit, even though it can be quite busy. Another highlight is the Batique Bar, somewhat hidden behind the Cire Restaurant. As it was not pointed out to us during check-in, we discovered it by chance – a true gem with an impressive atmosphere, excellent drinks, and outstanding service. In summary: an exceptional hotel with striking architecture, a spectacular location, and outstanding service – perfect for those seeking design, tranquility, and unique experiences at the highest level.

**Alila Villas Uluwatu** ★★★★★ Genuinely one of the most stunning places I've ever seen. The cliffs, the waves, the way the wooden slats on the cabanas run perfectly parallel to the Indian Ocean horizon — it's the kind of architectural detail that makes you stop mid-sentence. Someone thought about this deeply, and it shows. Every corner is a photo frame waiting to happen. My boyfriend arrived in a bad mood. It didn't last. The property has a way of doing that — lifting whatever you carried in through the gates. There's a weightlessness to it, like the architecture actually captured the sky it was built to frame. You can't stay heavy in a place like this. The room deserves its own mention. Open-plan but thoughtfully partitioned — everything has its place without feeling closed off. The glass doors open directly to the pool, and the daybed right beside them might be the best seat in the house. There's even a separate door from the pool that leads straight into the bathroom, which sounds like a small detail until you're actually using it and realize how considered the whole layout is. Bed is soft and genuinely comfortable. Easily one of the best-designed hotel rooms I've stayed in. The service is excellent — attentive without being in your face about it. The gym is well-equipped with a view that makes cardio feel almost unfair to complain about. Don't skip the lobby washroom. Open-air, beautifully designed — honestly the most creative hotel bathroom I've ever walked into. It sounds like a strange thing to highlight, but you'll understand the moment you see it. Food is the one honest con. It's fine. Not bad, not great. A few room service dishes actually impressed me, but the restaurants don't quite match the property's ambition. For what they're charging, that gap is noticeable. Still five stars. Bali has no shortage of beautiful places to stay — but if we're coming back, this is first on the list. Some places earn their rating. This one just *is* it.

Beautiful villas with excellent food and amazing staff who can’t do enough for you. Best place I’ve stayed in Bali to date

We had really high expectations for Alila, especially since we were celebrating my husband's birthday, but it ended up being a massive letdown. The views are absolutely stunning, the food is delicious, and the restaurant staff is great. They also kindly comped our airport transfer after I gave them my honest feedback at checkout. The room had a serious bug problem (I even found ants all over our nightstand) and the soundproofing is terrible. We heard loud music, outside noises, and screaming kids next door all day and night. Outside of the restaurant, the service felt robotic and unorganized. Overall, for the premium price tag, we expected a much better and more comfortable experience.

“The Alila Uluwatu is a truly gorgeous property with breathtaking views. It was the perfect end to our honeymoon. I strongly recommend the hotel for a private getaway for couples although there were some families present at the time we were there. Definitely a very pricey hotel. The saying ""if you have to ask then you probably can't afford it"" I think fits well. However with views and luxury behind them I figure one shouldn't complain. Really miss waking up to seeing my private pool, cabana and the blue skies and seas of the Indian ocean sprawled out before me. Service couldn't be flawed either. Smiles everywhere accompanied by genuine interest to make sure all was well with meals, spa, rooms etc."
