Should be better..

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Great location, very nice staff but a few things let it down. Breakfast was below standard for a hotel of this calibre, cold continental buffet very poor choice, a small amount of fruit & cereal not even a crossiant on offer, hot buffet may as well be described as cold buffet. Everything cold & unappetising. Nothing fresh from the kitchen which is most unusual , even the toast coming out was cold. We stayed in a suite nice big room but rubbish shower, no fridge in the room, apps on TV weren’t working, down turn service turned up at 10 pm?? Should be renamed tucking in service!! All in all I didn’t rate is as highly as I should of done given the money it cost.

Really lovely stay, we look forwards to coming back

Really excellent hotel. Lovely break for a couple. Everything was great throughout, couldn't fault the hotel on anything. Planning on coming back soon.

Very poor breakfast experience.

First of all the positive - friendly, welcoming staff. Spacious room and bathroom. Unfortunately the breakfast was the massive negative. The fruit salad consisted entirely of chopped apples, the grapefruit consisted of 4 stringy pieces floating in juice. The bread selection was poor, fresh cold toast was delivered to our table. The hot buffet breakfast was the polar opposite of hot. For a hotel to serve this to its guests and be rated as 5 star is debatable.

Our first time in the Culloden

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay in the Culloden. Every member of staff was so friendly, helpful and warm. A special shout out to the lovely gentleman leading breakfast service who is excellent at his job. It was a nice touch that he came to speak to us and other guests when the service was easing off. We enjoyed chatting to him. Most of the food we had was absolutely delicious and the breakfast in particular is probably the best hotel breakfast we’ve had. We had a really lovely lunch when we arrived and everything was very, very tasty apart from the egg sandwich which I think the kitchen maybe forgot to season, it was pretty bland. We had dinner in the Cultra Inn. Once again, nearly everything was delicious apart from my husband’s burger bun which was mostly black/burnt from being over toasted. Service was unfortunately a bit slow, young staff so lovely but one or two need a shake to not let the ball drop and keep on top of everything. Our bedroom was absolutely beautiful; very comfortable and spotlessly clean apart from a few short black hairs on a towel and a pillowcase. It was a pleasant surprise to come back and see the beds turned down and water on each beside table. We really enjoyed our time near the fire, reading our books and drinking cocktails which were all first class. Having said this, despite the fire, we both found it a little cold and it was disappointing that the fire was allowed to go out and wasn’t topped up. We would love to give the hotel 5/5 but considering the price of the stay, the little things we mentioned held us back on this. To make it value for money, everything would need to be pretty perfect.

A solid 4 stars - attitude from staff a little iffy

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

This is a very nice hotel - but with all very nice hotels it had its small weaknesses Wonderful grounds and facilities - liked the spa and swimming area - the bar area was luxury- full of soft seating and character Plenty of food in bar and foyer - the main restaurant certainly was nice - but service at breakfast on Sunday was so lacking in service - very poor you would think that the staff were out till 3 in the morning It’s not cheap but worth the experience in a very nice area of Belfast By the way Van Morrison played for lunch
