Villa Marsili in Cortona, Italy
Just an hour or so southeast of Florence, the magnificent medieval village of Cortona provides an ethereal setting for Villa Marsili. This exquisite establishment is one of the town's most elegant residences, and a favorite of celebrities such as Diane Lane and Josh Brolin, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Geoffrey Rush. Villa Marsili is truly an enchanting Italian retreat, boasting refined lounges and frescoed bedrooms whose atmosphere retain the grace of the building's original historic character. From public sitting rooms, views embrace the scenic pergolas of the outdoor gardens, and from your elegantly furnished accommodations you can gaze across the gentle rolling hills of Valdichiana.
Soothing landscapes and warm hospitality are hallmarks of Tuscany. You will find this and so much more in Cortona, which boasts an amazing wealth of art treasures. Every street and piazza brings a cultural delight, from the centrally located Duomo to the 15th-century San Niccolo church. Along with olive groves and Etruscan tombs, the region also yields traditional ceramics, golf, horseback riding and tennis. Experience it all at Villa Marsili.

Beautiful hotel - Beautiful people! We were treated like royalty the second we walked through the door. Staff went above and beyond too many times to count during our short stay. For example...We checked in very late the first night, so the manager/owner delivered a beautiful tray of food to our room. Breakfast is outstanding. Town center is just a short walk up the hill where you will find lots of great restaurants.
We just returned from Italy and this was one of our favorites hotels. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, the staff is exceptional, and the town of Cortona is breathtaking! I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone. The hotel offers a wonderful, full breakfast every day and a nice drink with cookies every night. The staff is professional, warm and friendly and will do whatever they can to accomodate every need.
This hotel had the friendliest staff, and beautiful rooms with a view. The location is near the walled city. Of all the hill cities we visited in Tuscany, this was our favorite. The hotel offered a wonderful breakfast and also a happy hour in the evening.

We had a lovely time here. The staff were very welcoming and gave plenty of helpful tips (like Snoopy does the best gelato in town!). They also parked our car which was a great help given the roads. Breakfast was good and there were complimentary snacks in the evening. Nice garden area too. The hotel is a short walk to the centre of town. Highly recommended!

Entering the city we were exhausted from our travels. Although we wanted to stay in the city center, we found parking a challenge and the crowds of visitors overwhelming. Just down the main road we saw this quaint and lovely hotel, Villa Marsili. They offered rooms in different price ranges (we paid $100 E) for a small but complete room. No view at this price but the airconditioner was a wonderful relief. We choose to have them park our car (in their private courtyard) for $12. Beautiful and delicious breakfast, complimentary mini bar snack and beverages, evening sweet wine and cookies, polite and accommodating staff. Very walkable to main square, shops and restaurants.
