A thirteenth century castle buried deep in a wooded parkland sounds like the setting for a fairy tale, but really it is home to the exclusive Ashford Castle. Standing impressively on the shores of Lough Corrib in County Mayo, Ireland, Ashford Castle is a monument to a fascinating and timeless history. Once the Guinness Family estate, the Castle has since opened its doors as an exclusive luxury hotel in 1939. Where else could one spend the morning learning how to fly a hawk at the School of Falconry, escape to the Walled Garden for a romantic picnic, and relax in the afternoon with a soothing massage at the spa? Filled with family heirlooms, rich furnishings and priceless objets dâ€(TM)art, Ashford presents the chance to enjoy the splendor of a bygone era in comfort and style.

Location, food, room and service were fantastic. This is one of the best hotels we stayed at in Europe and arguably the service was the friendliest. Close to lovely Connemara where, on our stay here, we climbed the Diamond Hill. We will definitely be returning!

5-star treatment during our stay. All staff were courteous and professional. The grounds are impeccable, and the castle is extraordinary. The bed was amazing and the turn down service was a pleasant surprise. Once in a lifetime experience!

Many people may come and go at Ashford Castle but you will feel recognized and welcomed when you arrive. We were treated as royalty the entirety of our stay. One would have to stretch a truth to come up with a negative. My wife and I traveled almost all of Ireland with a rental car, visiting every authentic Irish experience as possible. Our stay at Ashford Castle was by far the peak of our honeymoon. This experience is worth its weight in gold! We are already planning our anniversary to stay a week.

If you ever want to feel like Royalty then Ashford Castle is the place to go. We arrived by the boat, "Isle of Inisfree" on Lake Corrib. There we were greeted by a lone piper who esccorted us over the drawbridge to the Castle's entrance, where a doorman waited. Once we were in our spaceous room we discovered the tile floor and towel racks in the bathroom were heated. If you chose to bathe in the large deep tub you had a bottle of epsom salts to soak in. Ahhh, wonderful! The kingsize bed and pillows were soft and comfortable and the room plesant to be in. The grounds were well manicured with trails you could walk. There were many activities you could engage in such as horseback riding, archery, falconry, tennis, swimming and a spa. If this weren't enough, Ashford Castle was the finest dining experience we've ever had. The staff was very professional and attentive to all our needs. The delicious food was creatively prepared from an original menu. I would recommend Ashford Castle to anyone who wants to relax and be pampered. It's a place you never want to leave.

Had an unforgettable two night stay here as a birthday celebration and it was really special inclydinh a birthday card and treats in our room on arrival. From the moment we arrived we were looked after and made to feel right at home. The staff are all so friendly are there to make your stay memorable. There is a choice of restaurants to choose from and we dine in the George V and Cullen's Cottage. Both were delicious. With beautiful grounds to stroll, Ashford offers plenty of activities and we were thoroughly enjoyed the hawk walk and relaxing spa treatments. Looking forward to staying there again.

This is one of the finest properties we have ever visited. It is a beautiful castle, but it is also a world class hotel in the most beautiful setting you can imagine. The grounds are large and bikes are available for guests, the fishing on the river and the lake are first rate, and the service is unmatched. We have stayed twice and can't wait to go back again.
