Phum Baitang in Krong Siem Reap, Cambodia

Designed to give the feel of an authentic Khmer village in rural surroundings – it does just that. Enormous care has been taken in its construction, and the interiors have same theme of rural simplicity. A little pot of bright green rice shoots decorate the tables, and shutters are made with woven banana leaves. Within the resort lie two restaurants, two bars, a boutique, a 50 meter infinity pool and a spa.

Enjoy the comfort of your own villa while admiring the lush jungle from your terrace. Explore the ancient temple of Angkor Wat during the day and take a cigar in lounge in the lazy afternoon. You can also spend a day in the tranquility of the spa or practice meditation in the yoga pavilion. In the evening, the Bay Phsar’s restaurant will serve you local flavors with sublime Khmer noodle dishes in a street food set up.

while looking for a decent place to stay for our trip to Angkor Wat, along "Sofitel" and "Le Meridien" by accident we came along "Phum Baitang" and were immediately attracted by the pictures we found online. Working in the Tourist Industry and spending way over 100 nights a year in four- and five star Hotels, I must confess, I am a pretty spoiled brat when it comes to accommodation and service. But what more can I say than: I found Paradise! From arrival to departure, every single detail felt just right. Never too much, never too little, never too loud, never too quiet. The beauty of the Resort (as can be found online on many pictures) speaks for itself. But it is the combination of this natural beauty, the spacious Villas with their carefully chosen furnishings reflecting the simple luxury of their surrounding, the mouthwatering and deliciously presented food and, most important, the angelic staff that makes this our Top-One-Resort worldwide. Stepping out Siem Reap Airport, a friendly driver awaited us already with his air-chilled Range Rover. While we refreshed with chilled towels and cold water that he offered us, the friendly driver loaded our luggage and provided us with some first information about Cambodia, Siem Reap, Angkor and the Resort during our 15 minute ride. Arriving at the Resort around 9.30 pm, dozens of candles lighted our way to the "Lobby", a beautifully decorated wooden Pavillon where we were greeted with friendly smiles by the Senior Guest Relations Manager who escorted us to our Villa. Entering, we were speechless by the authentic, simple, yet luxurious interior and a warm welcoming set up of fresh flowers, a big plate of fresh fruit and some cold local bites to energize us after our flight. We were informed that the Restaurant was supposed to close at 10 pm but if we were hungry, they would be more than happy to keep it open for us! We were given a short introduction to all facilities, our Villa had to offer. It was immaculately clean and well maintained. Everything looked brand new with lots of love for the detail in all decoration (flowers, books, amenities). Exhausted after the long trip from Europe, we went to sleep early. The next morning, we stepped outside and were greeted by the sound of birds, frogs and some Water-Buffalos grazing right in front of our Villa. Breakfast is served next to the Pool and the selection did not leave a single wish unfulfilled. Freshly squeezed juices, healthy choice cocktail of the day, a wide offer of fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereal, Pannacotta with Mango-purree, home-made passion-fruit and papaya jam, bread that was freshly baked (yes baked, not simply heated up!) in the clay oven, a wide selection of Croissants, Danish, cold cuts and cheeses as well as a menu of eggs any style (from Benedict to Omelette with any condiments one can only think of) topped with a selection of cold and warm local dishes, meat and vegetarian, even vegan, a huge selection of fresh herbal infusions, any coffee specialty and a wide tea choice, presented by friendly, smiling staff who enjoyed to host us, joke with us, took care of every single detail (remembered our favorite table, which kind of drink we preferred, that we liked our Khmer Curry rather local spicy than "tourist" spicy) - this is by far the best breakfast experience we ever had! After breakfast and a relaxing swim at the remarkable pool (again, find many pictures online) and a quick stop-over at the up-to-date Gym, located in a "Spa-Temple" on property, it only took us a short walk to the reception desk where arrangements for our visit to Angkor followed by a tour through Siem Reap City were made. For sunset, we opted for a sundowner at the Resort's Cigar Bar with a beautiful view on the Veranda and a delicious, home-made Ginger-Beer-Cocktail which was accompanied by little snacks. The food on the menu of both Resort Restaurants was tempting and looked delicious as far as we could get a glimpse, however we opted to spend the evenings with Dinner, some Bar-hopping and some nightlife in Siem Reap City. At day three, the Resorts' Manager came to greet us personally at breakfast and the staff told us, they had seen our Angkor Wat pictures on Instagram accidentally and they were very happy for us that we have had such wonderful memories created during our visit. We spent a total of four nights at Phum Baitang before leaving to Bangkok, however, if we had known before, we would have skipped Bangkok and stayed the full week in this Garden of Eden with its angelic staff. After this experience, we are now eager to spend more time at the Zannier Hotels, especially the new opening in Namibia is our top bucket list!!!

We spent 5 nights here as a couple visiting the Angkor Wat sights. We had a pool villa. The hotel is far enough from SR town centre to avoid the bustle but close enough to get into town for dinner in c15 minutes. If you are like us, you will love it so much you may be reluctant to leave. The 'compound' is beautifully landscaped, very private and tranquil. The villas are constructed from natural materials - simple but very elegant and the design gave us constant pleasure. Service is very good - not perhaps as polished as some high end Thai hotels, but all the staff are charming and try hard. Food is great not outstanding but the menus change from day to day so you are unlikely to be bored. Price of extras reasonable for such a hotel. Go for a pool villa - the luxury of being able to have a cooling dip in the privacy of your own villa area is worth the expense (although the main pool is great for lap swimming at 50m).

This trip was a special Trip for myself and my partner. We are traveling with another couple who have toured Asia fairly extensively but this was our first time (besides Japan). I suppose I should begin with setting some expectations when it comes to the Cambodian people. To start with, you will never encounter a lovelier, more kind or gracious people. They greet with a smile and truly put their heart into their work. The opportunity to land a job at a five star resort such as this is the opportunity to be set for life. They know this and are incredibly grateful for the position. As a New Yorker, I too come with expectations of 5-Star service (as I know it) which I would have to say is the only mistake on my part. The service received is actually beyond five star in a different way. You need to explain a bit more clearly what you would like when making a request and they are happy to listen carefully to accommodate. It’s not a fast paced kind of service but a gentle and meaningful service. Keep this in mind and you will be as pleased as we were with the service. The accommodations were fabulous. From a design aspect, the villas were incredibly simple but completely luxurious. An unpretentious perfection that is not easy to achieve. We opted for a pool villa which was lovely and very private. The only challenge Wig the villa was lighting in he bathroom for make-up. The other villas also appeared to be amazing and the communal pool is absolutely stunning and never crowded. The spa was nice, we had massages and were pleased with the service. The food was the best in Cambodia that we experienced aside from a simple little Kitchen across from the Angkor Wat and the little lake. Khmer Kitchen. - not attractive But really amazing food. Eat the Mok wherever you go. The Management, Collin could not have been more helpful and as they say, it starts at the top - everyone respects Collin and David and they have so much integrity in the way they run their business. Chantrea was magnificent employee. He drove us most nights and was so proud of his country. He always had the most incredibly outgoing and kind personality. He can drive you if requested. Touch took great care of us at the pool and always remembered exactly how we enjoyed things. Lin took care of us each day at the restaurant and never left a detail unnoticed. The entire family felt like our extended family and we will definitely return. Truly special place. We really enjoyed the Vespa tour and the boat ride to see the floating villages by the way. Not to be missed. Collin has ideas for restaurants but honestly the hotel cuisine is authentic and really fantastic. Enjoy!!

This hotel is perfect in every way. Aesthetic, staff, cuisine and location. I have no complaints whatsoever. The property is spacious and tucked away from the busy strip of hotels. The rooms were large and well appointed in rustic luxury. The pool area was tranquil and beautiful. I could have spent hours at the pool every day. The restaurants offered great cuisine and wines at a reasonable price. Aside from seeing Angkor Wat/temples there is simply no reason to leave this lovely oasis. I wish i could have stayed longer just to relax here. The staff seals the deal. Everyone was so warm and engaging. Mao, in particular, was wonderful. He was pleasant and always smiling. He was happy to assist whenever he could and always did it with a smile. Hands down the best hotel of my 3 week journey to several countries in Asia.

This hotel is a mix of luxury resort, historic nostalgia & going back to nature. Nothing like any hotel, after checking into my Villa time flied by very fast & the hardest part of the stay will be checking out.
