The Villa Casa Casuarina, the former home of Gianni Versace, has been transformed into an elegant Miami Beach retreat. Built in 1930, the mansion has the designer's touch throughout, and is a mix of Spanish and Italian influences coupled with opulent details. The Ocean Drive manor-turned-boutique-hotel features just 10 suites showcasing rich and vibrant hues with only the finest of furnishings displayed. Lounge by the legendary mosaic pool or slip behind the curtain of a luxury beachfront cabana. Sunset cocktails are best enjoyed in the Observatory lounge overlooking the glistening Atlantic Ocean. Casa Casuarina also features a trio of sultry lounges including one for cigar aficionados. Guests can enjoy culinary specialties atop the upper terrace with views of the tropical gardens. The acclaimed fine dining establishment Loftin's 1116 Ocean, with its detailed stone mosaic, adds an element of drama to your meals. It is easy to envision the likes of Madonna or Elton John supping here during Versace's celebrated reign.

Casa Casuarina is visually striking and full of potential, and it seems to know it, which is precisely the problem. The experience begun poorly before we even reached our room, and what happened at check-in is hardly worth detailing here, being only the first in a series of disappointments that set the tone for everything that followed. The staff is by far the biggest disappointment. Service feels disorganized, inattentive, and at times outright unprofessional. Guests are often left waiting, requests are ignored or handled poorly or with attitude, and there's a clear sense that customer experience is not a priority, more that guests are tolerated between restaurant bookings. For a place that positions itself as exclusive and high-end, this level of service is simply unacceptable. The property itself reflects the same attitude. Look past the initial grandeur and the cracks show: worn linens, neglected corners, details that fall well below what the rates suggest. Not a place in disrepair, just one where standards have quietly settled at the minimum needed to keep operating, not to actually deliver on the promise. Casa Casuarina is a place that has learned to live off its name. It offers just enough to avoid outright failure, while investing little in the kind of attention and craft that would make the experience genuinely memorable. The potential is clearly there, which makes the complacency all the more frustrating. At this price point, if what you're looking for is substance on top of spectacle (genuine service, real attention, an experience that actually matches what you're paying for) look for it anywhere else to save yourself the disappointment! One final note: if you still decide to book (it is after all Gianni Versace's former mansion) be aware that I was contacted via WhatsApp by what turned out to be a scam, using my exact booking reference and personal details. Information that could only have come from Booking or the hotel itself.

The details in the former Versace mansion are a pure privilege to witness in person. I’ve stayed here now in almost every room and every stay is a treat. I brought my two nieces with me here for our end of summer trip and they were treated with kindness and respect by everyone on the staff here. Special thank you to Talia for being so kind and caring in making the stay so extra special!!

Great building but poor customer service

The hotel is extraordinary but can be noisy at night so be prepared. Talia was an unbelievably welcoming and professional hostess / receptionist.

We had a wonderful stay in The Villa. We stayed in Gianni suite which retains its magnificence and reflections of the man himself. Talia was our receptionist during the day and we found her helpful and considerate to us. All The Villa staff are courteous and offer support at every encounter. Highly recommend for a special stay.
