We made reservations at the restaurant what a lovely experience. We arrived a little early and walked around the gardens they were stunning. I think it would be a lovely place to stay. The only thing is it's a little drive down to the river area where there are lots of restaurants and lovely place to see. The staff at the restaurant were amazing, from the time we walked in until we left. Started off with a cocktail that was great the food was delicious. If you go to Natchez I would highly suggest eating at this delightful restaurant. And consider making reservations.

Lovely surroundings, poor hospitality

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We were greeted with zero southern hospitality by a surly host. The room is beautiful, but one of our party had the view of an open kitchen door where dirty laundry was stacked in bags around a messy area. This is not expected with the kind of prices charged. Our dinner for 4 was close to $400, for which we expected a bit more service. Food was okay. Pretty property outside. Note to management: get new staff or train the people you have.

Wonderful outdoor spaces

Toured this historic inn with family. The home 's best features are its beautiful grounds and gardens. There is a lovely outdoor seating area, an ornamental stocked lake for fishing , a fountain ,and a decorative bridge. The inn was home to lawyer, general, governor, state and national legislator John Quitman. Sadly he died at the age of 49 of Legionnaire's disease. Our guide was very pleasant and enthusiastic.

LOVE Monmouth Historic Inn

We love the Monmouth Inn! It is absolutely beautiful and the grounds are amazing :) We had wonderful drinks in the bar before dinner and our meal was incredible! Breakfast is served in a beautiful, garden building with a large, gorgeous patio. Neeshele & Ricky provided amazing service for breakfast, the food was fantastic and the attentive service was even better! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Monmouth and can’t wait to return.

We had a wonderful stay. The staff were over the top nice and helpful. We ate in the 1818s restaurant which was excellent. The grounds were gorgeous and the room’s amazing. It was a nice and peaceful setting. Lynne took great care of our group.

It is always such a rare pleasure to visit Monmouth and to soak up its beauty and its heritage. You have done so much to make this historic place a source of pride for all of us who share a fascination for the historic sites and events that serve to make us who we are.

My husband and I experienced Monmouth Plantation and the city of Natchez, Mississippi, in December, 2004. Our experience there was absolutely wonderful!! We were treated like royalty by the staff at Monmouth and hope we can return soon.
