Prospect Plantation in Ocho Rios, Jamaica
Just outside Jamaica's vibrant resort town of Ocho Rios, discriminating travelers can discover unequaled privacy on one of the island's oldest working plantation estates. Prospect Plantation features five seafront private villas, surrounded by farmlands burgeoning with bananas, sugarcane, coffee and allspice. Just steps from the ocean, four of the villas boast their own private gardens and pool, while the fifth offers an exclusive white sand beach. Featuring a full domestic staff, each villa showcases an attentive pampering that has perennially drawn guests such as Sir Winston Churchill and Ian Fleming.
With its fern-clad cliffs and breathtaking waterfalls, the plantation's north coast location provides plenty of natural drama. The signature complimentary jitney service throughout the estate makes for a perfect introduction to your surroundings. Guests will also enjoy an on-site tennis court, preferential green fees at a nearby country club and a variety of horseback riding trails. Enjoy an encounter with the dolphins, marvel at the 30-foot tall fern trees in Fern Gully and partake in a traditional tree planting to commemorate your visit. Find it all at Prospect Plantation.

Reviews for Prospect Plantation
We stayed in the main villa here and had an amazing week - the privacy of the beach as well as the attentiveness of the staff made this the perfect place to visit with family. On top of that there was a lot to do and see within a short drive so everybody was happy. Accommodation excellent. No downsides whatsoever.

The views are amazing the staff friendly, the cooking class was great, to actually make your own jerk chicken, in the true Jamaican way, over a pimento wood smoking fire.MMMMM! Don't miss the aviary on site just ask for some food and you can go in and feed the birds, yes they will land on you.

From arrival to departure, our ten day stay at WagWater was beyond any expectations we may have had. As bi-annual visitors to Jamaica for many years we highly recommend this location if you enjoy laid back five star service in a centralized but very private part of Ocho Rios. The staff were awesome, Ms. Madge - should be showcased on the food network! Every meal was delicious, and she included oxtail cooked to perfection. Rushane - A graduate of Prospect College and a shining example of a young Jamaican man. His skills as a butler are top notch, table service is a dream, very respectful of our privacy and so much fun to be around. Latoya - best housekeeper ever! Beautiful turn down each evening and artistic towel art daily. Best of all was falling into bed each night in clean crisp sheets......These people truly represent what Jamaica is all about, smiles, love, hospitality and a forever friendship. The villa had everything we needed as a group of 6 adults, spacious bedrooms with modern bathrooms and great airconditioning. Comfortable beds, plenty of closet space with a safe in each room. Flat screen tv with cable was a nice addition. The indoor living area was spacious, comfortable seating and pleanty of books/games and a large flat screen tv. Outdoor living was perfect, a large covered veranda with spectacular ocean views. Outdoor dining was the norm and relaxing in comfortable furniture for many hours under large ceiling fans tends to lead to late nigh gatherings with the additional safety of a night watchman. We enjoyed the Plantation Tour, would highly recommend. We will certainly return to WagWater the next time we travel with a group. The indoor liv

We wanted to be in a special place to spend some quality time with our parents and family members who we had not seen for a long time - Our Villa stay checked all the boxes…and more! The facilities were excellent - of a very high standard and well maintained and in the words of my daughter …Fresh! The relative seclusion of the villas made it more special… we were in our own little domain, and we were made to feel like Kings and Queens by the staff. I felt that they gave us extra special attention…especially to our parents. They understood our diverse needs (which could have been a challenge given the wide age range and multi-national flavours) and they did everything to meet them. What amazing, caring and professional people they all are. In that short time.. we felt like we were with family!! The fact that we were spread across two villas was also very well handled. Massive Thank You go out to the staff of Eight Rivers and Wag Water Villas!!! Eight rivers was the hub of activity. The spaciousness of that Villa meant that we were all very comfortable especially as we watched Jamaica’s performances in the Sprint Relay Finals. Together, we witnessed history with Bolt getting his third gold in that Olympics! The Food!!! We totally enjoyed everything that was served and did our best to eat it all!! All our meals were communally served at Eight Rivers - 15 guests all well fed and watered every time. Talk about presentation!!! - "enjoyment of food starts with the eyes". Our eyes feasted and then our mouths and tummies very quickly followed. This was a truly gastronomic experience of Jamaican food at its best. For those of us who don’t get to eat real Jamaican food on a regular basis… this was a special treat. Those of us who live on the rock, applauded the authenticity, love and care that went into the food.
My visit to this plantation was an experience I will always cherish. As we tour the plantation, the tour guide keeps you entertained with his warm personality and many jokes. We laughed as well as learnt from the guide all the way up to the great house, We stopped for coconut climbing and coconut jelly eating experiences, then we went down to the camels for a short ride. An experience to last a lifetime...
