Domaine des Andéols in Saint-Saturnin-les-Apt, France

Escape to a place that is quintessentially French, yet exhibits a decidedly modern style, at Domaine des Andéols. Located in Lubéron, less than an hour's drive from Avignon, this country estate breathes classic Provence lifestyle at its very best, while bringing guests an artistic and contemporary environment. Guest houses are dotted around the property, charming abodes with a mix of stunning décor. A brilliant white cocoon best describes Maison Blanche with its peaceful blank color palate, and saturated hues of purple and blue make Maison des Terrassess a sensory pleasure. Multiple bedrooms, fireplaces, and private gardens are just some of the individual touches throughout. And rooms are equipped with wireless internet access and air conditioning, ensuring the utmost in comfort. Start your stay by simply exploring the property itself - on foot, by bicycle, or even on horseback - and take in the picturesque landscape in every direction. Domaine des Andéols grows orchards of cherries, apricots, melons and grapes, which you can enjoy as fresh juices with breakfast, and also hosts more than 50 varieties of tomato plants.

The main swimming pool is ideal for a dip or as a sunny venue for an al fresco lunch, and the hotel also has a tennis court you can use at your leisure. Should you wish to further unwind, schedule a deep tissue massage with essential oils customized to your needs, and opt for an in-room treatment for an intimate approach. Perhaps the greatest sensory experience at Domaine des Andéols, though, is that of taste. Dining is a voyage through the flavors of Provence, reinvented and brought to you through inspired seasonal menus. For a special lunch or dinner, head downhill from the main house to the majestic plane tree, where a canopy of leaves cover a lit patio of tables. The region itself beckons to be discovered, and the hotel's staff can help to arrange day trips or suggest sites to visit. Brimming with character and charm on every level, Domaine des Andéols is an ideal home for your trip to Provence.

Stayed here for 3 nights at the very end of June as a base for our trip to explore the luberon region -- this is a perfect location that allowed us to visit Gordes, Sault, Bonnieux, Roussillon, etc. the hotel is absolutely beautiful with a grand look. The swimming pool is the perfect place to unwind. We feel fortunate that we didn't choose to stay in one of those towns, because traffic is bad with a lot of tourists and those towns are enough for a 3 hour trip each. Each room in this hotel is uniquely decorated and they are very interesting and spacious. In the outdoor area, they have nice lavender fields which smell really nice -- while we're there they were in full bloom. There are also herb &vegetable garden, pond, olive trees, apricot tree garden... anyway, a lot to see and explore! The under tree restaraunt -- their food is amazing! Especially the Provence casserole! We didn't feel we're in a hotel but in nature! Walking around the estate at sunrise is truly magical! Service is great with very friendly and attentitive staff. One morning I ordered a boiled egg (they actually charge extra for just the egg, although other stuff in breakfast is included), it came out cold. I complained it to the waitress and the next morning they gave me a hot egg for free... There is also great yoga class. They seem to have a nice spa too, but we didn't get to try. Hopefully the hotel can put a spa brochure in the room or advertise for it when guests check in. But anyways, highly recommend this place!

This hotel is simply magnificent, in a nature and art-oriented way. Really something unique. From the rooms, which are like little houses, to the swishy swimming pools, you feel like you are really with the jet set at this place. But the restaurant under the trees and the outdoor movie theater are as homey and unpretentious as they come. LOVED IT.

I was lucky enough to find a review of this hotel in a Conde Naste article last November when searching for the perfect place to spend the weekend in August with friends to celebrate a special birthday. From the initial enquiry we made the staff at the hotel were extremely helpful. Once the booking was confirmed a wonderful lady called Emily took over the arrangements, giving great advice on things to consider doing when we finally came to spend the weekend a the Domaine in August. We decided to visit the hotel for two nights in April and were disappointed and I have to say a little concerned to be told that the hotel would unfortunately not be ready for our visit. Alternative accommodation arrangements were made and we were given a wonderful guided tour of the Hotel. It was therefore with a little apprehension that we arrived at the hotel to spend the weekend with 42 friends, we need not have worried in the slightest. From the moment we arrived everything was perfect! The majority of staff at the hotel are all quite young and wonderfully polite, happy and eager to please .... I cannot remember all of their names to thank each individually. Our wishes had been carried out just as we had asked and the whole weekend went to plan. A wonderful first night dinner superbly cooked fish and duck at Le Platane, tables around a 600 year old plane tree, restaurant with a great DJ recommended by the hotel. Breakfast was wonderful served at the La Maison des Saveurs. Most of us went out for lunch in Menerbes but those who stayed enjoyed lovely platters of food from the Domaine. Dinner on Saturday evening was beautiful served at La Maison de Saveurs with drinks enjoying the wonderful sunset first. Sunday Brunch is and absolute must I have never seen such and incredible display....and the Gateaux ....normally they look good and don't taste so wonderful! They tasted even better than they looked!!!!!!! Sunday evening barbecue wonderful. Our rooms and cottages were superb beautifully cleaned each day and the beds were wonderfully comfortable. We cannot thank you all enough for a fantastic weekend!!!

A boutique hotel built like a tiny village, it has superb contemporary designs and fun art. The swimming pool and its surrounding area is one of the most beautifully designed pool areas anywhere - amazing for sunsets. The outdoor dining area is superb. The whole feel is like a chic house party. The villas are farmhouses simply furnsihed with contemporary art, but the living room lacks air conditioning. Although the two bedroom villas have ensuite bathrooms, they share a lavatory in the hallway, which is not ideal.

The boutique hotel is absolutely beautiful, nicely finished and the setting is perfect. The staff are just not up to the standard of the hotel and the price you pay! Upon arrival we waited quite some time to be served even though several people were behind the counter , we were taken to our house with zero explanation of the place, or what things you can do in the area. We discovered our house did t have air conditioning on the ground floor ( we were not told this) and it was 40C outside! And paying 800 euros a night! Toujours is the name of the house to avoid, and it's extremely dark, we were given a fan which was broken but worked ! The next day we moved to one of the Nature suites which have been built new with a full size floor to ceiling window and it was a great experience being at one with nature. Best ones are the suites 1 to 3 as they have open views and these are 500 euros per night but just for 2 people. Dining experience in La Platene is lovely with nice food and ok service to start with then you just get ignored ... but the outside setting is one to enjoy. The other Restaurent in the main body of the hotel Maison des Saveurs is really not worth it, the service is simply bad, food so so, the waiters just forget to bring you what you ask for and they are not at all attentive , really not up to the standard of what the hotel is trying portray. To warrant the prices they charge this place definitely has the right setting but a very WRONG service level, and it really needs to address it. Mixed feelings about the stay ... a real Pity !
