Reviews for Esperas

A wonderful stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

This was our first visit to Santorini, and we chose Esperas based on pictures, availability of a private plunge pool, and reviews on various websites. We arranged our transfer from the airport directly with Esperas. Very convenient! (Getting to the hotel can be very confusing, and Google maps takes you to the village, NOT to their parking lot.) Our driver met us in baggage claim and escorted us to a very comfortable Mercedes van/limo. Porters met us in the parking lot and took all of our bags down the many steps, and winding passageways to the hotel. Trust me, you don’t want to do this on your own—especially when departing! We loved our room—number 115–the Premium Honeymoon Plunge Pool Suite with Sunset View. The pictures on the website associated with this room are not all of room 115, but I have included our pictures with this review. We had a beautiful patio with two lounge chairs, a table and chairs with an umbrella, and our plunge pool/Jacuzzi. We were not able to get the Jacuzzi to “hot tub“ temperature until our final day, but it was beautiful and relaxing nonetheless. Inside the vibrant blue door was a very spacious area with antique sofas, tables, and chairs, chest, and TV. In the back of the “cave“ are the bedroom and the bathroom. We had a large closet with hangers, but not much other space to store clothing. The bed is recessed in its own nook, which is charming, however the mattress was extraordinarily uncomfortable— one of the worst I’ve ever slept on in my life. The rainfall shower in the cave-like bathroom was spacious beautiful, but hot water runs out very quickly. The Nespresso machine in our room was a wonderful surprise. Supplies were not always restocked, but the staff did their best when we called. The inclusive breakfast at the hotel was very convenient before we started out for the day. Day one there were some errors in our order, but we attributed it to the start of the season and the training of new staff. Once again, they quickly fixed things and breakfast on our subsequent days was served perfectly. The food was tasty with very generous portions. The sunsets did not disappoint!!! We did not have a sunset dinner at the hotel restaurant, instead we ordered a meal from a restaurant in town and brought it back to enjoy on our patio. Pictures will never do it justice! Best advice: Wear good walking shoes and be prepared for LOTS of steps. We counted 109 very steep steps from our room to the hotel gate, and then you keep going up from there to get to the parking lot or to the village. The staff at the hotel were very personable and helpful. As noted earlier, it would be to your advantage to arrange your transfers to and from the airport with Esperas directly.

Best stay of my life!

Over 1000 reviews and a composite 5.0 score? That sounds right. Most beautiful place I’ve ever stayed. Staff was also infectiously upbeat and helpful.

Poor experience - do not reccomend

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

I'm not one to usually write reviews, but I made sure to make time to write a review for this hotel. My husband and I went here as our last stop in Greece for our honeymoon (we went to Athens and Mykonos prior) and spent the most money on this hotel. We booked the premium honeymoon plunge pool suite with sunset view. MAJOR CONS: - It was soo hard to find this hotel and other workers on the island did not know where it was located with very few signs to find it and GPS not working. - There was no hot water when I was ready to shower, I had to hop out and call the front desk which she came immediately to turn the hot water on but I was told to wait 30 minutes - The hot water only lasts for less than 5 minutes - The "plunge pool" was unkempt and dirty, the jets were not on and when I asked to turn the jets on (on the last day) I was told that they couldn't due to "Santorini electricity problems" - we paid extra money for this feature for no reason. The pool jets were on in the main area of the hotel and there were jets in other jacuzzi jet's ON in other vacant rooms on their property and functioning jets within the island. PRO: The view is beautiful but could've been enjoyed elsewhere. The breakfast and breakfast staff are amazing. I would not recommend anyone to come here and get bamboozled like we did especially when this island is so beautiful.

Exceptional boutique hotel with amazing views. Enjoyed great cocktails watching sunset (Probably the best spot for sunset experience). We had a wonderful dinner, great food and a top notch service. We want to thank Stravos for making our stay very special, we will definitely come back to this very amazing hotel our next trip over. A special thank you to all the wonderful staff you made us feel at home!!

Amazing views of Santorni

Had a wonderful stay at Esperas in Oia. The views of the Santorini Caldera are amazing and we were very spoiled by the sunset views. Our room was very clean and perfect for what we needed and we looked forward to our breakfasts every morning with that incredible view. The front desk/concierge was very helpful and and bell hops made our lives easier bringing our luggage through the tough hike up and down. Fair warning though, there are a good amount of steps so not great for those who are immobile. Overall, incredible time at Esperas and would love to come back next time we're in Santorini.
