I stayed here in March for one night with my mother and my infant son. The estate is a beautiful setting on the Ryder Cup golf course and the hotel itself has maintained many period features. The concierge staff were friendly, efficient and even gave my son a K Club duck to keep which was a nice little touch. We ate in the bar and the food was delicious as was the breakfast. However, our room was a negative and unfortunately would put us off coming back. The standard twin was small but that fact would be acceptable given the period style. We had to request a kettle which I would expect to be standard in an Irish 5 star hotel. The major downside though was the room was uncomfortably warm. We requested the radiators be turned off and I believe they were but it was so warm it was difficult to even sleep. I am not one to complain for the sake of it but I did send it as feedback to the hotel. I suggested it is easier warm up a room if required than to cool down especially with old style radiators. I was told the manager would get back to me. However several weeks later this has not happened. Again, for a 5 star, it just leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

Great hotel in that the communal areas and rooms were great but the spa was disappointing. Two of the three hot tubs were not working I.e. the jets just didn’t work and the communal steam room was quite frankly useless, not hot enough and not big enough. Friends said that the treatments were very good and the staff very friendly but if your partner is playing golf all day and you are planning on a spa day it’s probably the worst I’ve visited. Good well equipped gym.

Recently had afternoon tea at the K Club, from the moment we stepped in,our experience was delightful, the staff were attentive, friendly and engaging. Once seated in the Chinese drawing room with superb view of the garden, Danielle took our order in a polite, friendly and professional manner, and was very informative when serving us. When leaving, the staff at reception were friendly and gave us information on the history of the hotel, thanks to Stacey and David.

My wife had booked an overnight stay in a deluxe room and we were upgraded to a junior suite on arrival by a charming young man by the name of Cameron. He showed us to our room and informed us of the upgrade due to the hotel being busy. We dined that evening in the Byerley Turk which was an experience to say the least, we came across John the bar man who had an excellent knowledge of the hotel and its history. Breakfast 10/10, will be back. Side note: The hotel is beautiful but the staff (Cameron & John and many others whom we came across) made our trip most relaxing.

Corporate event- 5 star hotel but only one room key for the whole 3 bedroom apartment that we all have to share. And when I went to collect the room key at the reception I was told room key was collected by someone else. Walked all the way to the garden and sure enough no one was there. Waited for a long time at midnight but no one opened the door, then had to walk back to reception to find that room key was on their table. Absolutely no care was given by the midnight receptionist let alone a 5 star service. I was in many hostels with much better service than this 5 star hotel.
