Reviews for The Somerset on Grace Bay

Best Place Ever…

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

The Somerset on Grace Bay is an exceptional place to stay at. I have stayed here 10 times and would not go to any other place. The staff is truly outstanding and go above and beyond my expectations every time I stay there. From the booking process with Stevonya, she truly makes it a seamless experience and always a pleasure to work with her. She is amazing at what she does and her attention to detail is incredible. Foster, Winston, Billy and the rest of the crew are the best! They always welcome me with a heart warming smile and make sure everything is always in order from assisting with restaurant reservations to helping with groceries. The housekeeping staff work so hard and always leave the room in pristine condition. Nadine and Mr. Bigs at the pool bar are also amazing. The food is delicious, the drinks are extraordinary and their laughter and friendless is contagious. I travel with my husband who has mobility issues. Loxsley and Bernard on the beach are always there to give us a helping hand. These guys are amazing. They all hold a special place in my heart. As far as improvements go, breakfast although good could use some changes to the menu and a bit more organization. You need to provide a breakfast voucher every morning. This makes no sense to me because prior to a few years ago, it wasn’t needed and I felt as though things were more seamless then. Lastly, the rooms although spacious and clean, really do need to be modernized. The furniture and rooms itself are outdated and could really use some sort of makeover. To all the staff at The Somerset, you guys are the best. Stay here, you won’t want to go anywhere else.

NO Kids club!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

I write this review b/c I would have wanted to know before I went… We chose this hotel for the kids club, thinking it was the perfect amount of time to offer our two young kids activities out of the pool/ocean. Turns out the woman who runs the kids club had a personal emergency, and therefore there would be no kids club offered. We would have stayed somewhere else - and this place was expensive. No alternative option was offered. No compensation was offered (i got them to agree to a restaurant credit), but more upsetting was that no one offered an apology. In fact, they did the opposite and argued with me about it. One staff member even said they wouldn’t have called in back up for just my kids. Their website elaborates on (and exaggerates) the greatness of the kids club - but sounds like only one adult is in charge. The property alone would be a 5 star review. As would the restaurant staff and pool staff.

The team at the Somerset makes it a spectacular oasis in paradise, thank you all!

Second time back because there is no better place than the Somerset... it sits right on the most desirable portion of Grace Bay -- and is easy walking distance to all of our favorite restaurants (Hemingways, Mr Groupers, Casa Nona at the Ritz)... The staff here is amazing - it does not get better than the incredible people who make the Somerset so special. Special thanks to Tanya to ensuring everything in our room was perfect for a family with 3 kids under 3 (especially the two cribs - thank you!)... Miss Sharon planned an amazing movie under the stars for the children, did Smores/bond fire and even made custom t-shirts with our children - they love her so much! Leraud is a pleasure to work with and was always very responsive at the front desk if we needed anything quickly like a taxi or help in the room. Winston was super kind and always helped us in/out of the property quickly - thank you. Berry was so kind and sweet - thank you for always making us feel welcome. Billy was a delight at the manager's cocktail party - a complimentary gathering for all the guests -- thank you so much for the delicious rum punch and smile. The team could not be nicer and more accommodating -- and we were traveling with a 3 month old newborn, so I was incredibly appreciative of all the extra hands, cold drinks, and help we could get to feel super comfortable at the Somerset. The townhouses are amazing for families - many are converted with a third bedroom in the lower level (perfect for traveling with in-laws or a babysitter/additional family member who wants their own private space). We loved running out to the lawn and having a place close by to play. I can only dream to return each, after year because this place is truly a special home away from home. I love it here and could not think of a better place to stay in all of the Caribbean than here! It's the BEST! The "pain killer" drink but he pool is delicious. And do not miss the Thursday "fish fry event" - it's a 5 minute walk from this property and a blast to attend with your family. Take advantage of the complimentary bikes and ride into town for lunch at Castaways. I love this place and can't wait to get back. Thank you all so SO truly much for the best family stay EVER. Billy, Berry, Sharon, Tanya, Leraud -- you are the kindest team and I hope to see you next year... You make the Somerset what it is, and you make families want to keep always coming back to this wonderful little oasis in paradise. Thank YOU so much.

Awesome staff, loved the Somerset!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Heard about this hotel from a friend and it exceeded expectations! LOVED being able to relax away from kids and see the ocean from my room. Room didn’t feel run down or impersonal like other hotels, was super spacious and homey. There were so many activities to choose from! Pool, beach, beach bbq night, paddleboarding, kayaking, yoga, pilates, etc… Great for mixed groups with different interests. What I really loved though was how great the customer service was! Winston at front desk was so kind, helpful, and friendly from day 1. He reallly made me feel welcome and gave so many great recommendations, and make checking in and out seamless. Everyone at the hotel was so nice and happy to help. Incredible staff and service. Especially loved that I could just text front desk for anything wwithout having to call, very convenient. Would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful choice among many similar properties on Grace Bay Beach

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

The Somerset is a beautiful, upscale property located on a convenient stretch of Grace Bay Beach which is one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. It is primarily 2 and 3 bedroom villas/condominiums, almost all with fabulous ocean and pool views. It operates as a resort by providing hotel services such as housekeeping, poolside amenities, beach equipment, and often free breakfast with their package deals. There are many of these properties on the island but I honestly think this was one of the most beautiful. We rented a car for our group because there is not much of a local transportation system on the island and taxis are expensive and not always timely from what we heard. Gated parking was very secure. On the island each resort tends to have 1 or 2 restaurants so we visited several in nearby resorts to provide variety. Favorites were Grace’s Cottage and The Farm. We did enjoy our own resorts breakfasts and pool bar. A favorite local restaurant, Mr. Grouper is a short walk up the street. We stayed in a 2 bedroom ocean duplex in the Stirling building. 403. Fabulous!
