Arts, Culture and Music in Miami

Destination(s): Miami

Whoever said Miami lacks culture obviously never spent much time looking for it. It may not rival New York City in its offerings, but the city is home to more than a few art venues and cultural performances, thanks to a strong presence of artists, musicians and entertainers. From Adrienne Arsht Performing Arts Center, the expansive crown jewel of Miami’s performing arts scene, to the modern and contemporary collections found in the galleries of the Wynwood Arts District, Miami has a little something for almost every taste. read more about Arts, Culture and Music in Miami

The indisputable jewel in the crown of Miami's entertainment scene, Adrienne Arsht Performing Arts Center (formerly the Carnival Center for the Performing Arts) is a 570,000-square-foot facility that happens to be the country's third-largest performing arts center. There are two principal venues in the center: a concert hall and an opera house, both of which can seat more than 2,000. Additionally, there are two smaller spaces for more intimate seating of around people. Hosting year-round Broadway and Disney performances as well as acting as the home of the New World Symphony, Miami City Ballet, Florida Grand Opera, and the Concert Association of Florida, the center also hosts a full slate of year-round events put on by a combination of nationally-known personalities and local groups. read more about Adrienne Arsht Performing Arts Center

Hotel Astor

Hotel Astor

For a time, most people who entered this address did so with one purpose in mind: to make a beeline straight for the basement restaurant, the Metro Kitchen + Bar, which was a favored hangout for B-list semi-celebrities and their groupies. Now, with a stylish renovation under its belt,  the Astor still wows with its stylish Maison d'Azur eatery. But that's only half the story. This hotel itself has 40 beautifully restored, restful guest rooms with comfortable beds and an upscale feel. The views they offer are less than perfect, but the rooms are quiet and its popular bar and courtyard easily add to the hotel's allure.
