Reviews for The Martha Washington Inn and Spa

Beautiful historic hotel and a jewel of a town

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

The property is stunning and dates back from the 1700’s. There are reports of hauntings there which makes the trip extra fun. A wonderful employee Anthony who man’s the desk overnight gave my sister and me an after hours tour of the spectacular ball room and filled us in on interesting history of the house. The pool is also amazing here.

The Martha Inn Christmas could do better in communicating requests

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 months ago

We have stayed at the Martha for many years and have always loved the character of the historic property, the service, and the Food and Beverage. This is our sixth visit over the years. We made reservations before Christmas this year and reserved two nights for the 24th and 25th, 2023. We also made reservations for The Sister's Dining Room for Christmas Eve on the 24th at 8:00 PM and confirmed with the guest services. We arrived and checked in to room #402 and were disappointed with the lack of light throughout the room, no headboards on the queen-size bed, the Shower drained very slowly, and the heating had no temperature control. We also had to take two flights of stairs to our room; we were not asked if we had to take stairs. I asked if we could review other rooms and was told no other rooms were available. (I found out later that other rooms were available as the occupancy was 35 %. The front desk at our arrival was not helpful. ) We arrived at Sisters for our 8:00 PM Dinner reservations, and they had no reservations for our 8:00 PM Arrival. Fortunately, the Hostess was able to make room for us, and we had a delightful dinner with a fabulous server named Sarah; she was exceptional, and our menu items, Prime Rib, and Braised Short Ribs, were Fabulous; this was the highlight of our stay, compliments to the Chef. The rest of our stay was excellent. Breakfast for both days was excellent, and Karen, our server, was delightful, courteous, and very service-oriented. We will continue to revisit The Marthaust wish we had a choice of another room for our stay.

A very enjoyable experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 months ago

I booked a “Barter Theater” package for the weekend as a surprise getaway with my boyfriend. The hotel is lovely and the spa is wonderful! They did a great job making the couple’s experience unforgettable. My only complaint is the morning server at the restaurant was very unfocused. She was very nice, but she didn’t follow up to make sure we had gotten our breakfast. She made us to-go beverages and wished us off without realizing that we never got our food. I had to ask the manager to check for us. An overall great experience, but the breakfast service at Sisters could be better (the server at dinner was great!). The rest of the hotel and spa staff were fantastic!

Wonderful stay.

The room was exceptional. It was spacious and clean. Beds were comfortable. Bathrooms were nice. Toilets were amazing. (I know, weird to rave about toilets, but trust me). Check-in was a breeze. Parking was ample and close. Hotel was decorated for Halloween and it was not over the top and tastefully done. Can’t recommend enough.

Beautiful old girl falling into disgrace

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 months ago

Beautiful old hotel but poorly run. Not very clean. Our room had a lamp with a shortage; tacky grommet curtains; damaged wall paint; exposed box springs; bugs and cobwebs; near speaker of hot tub so not quiet. I expected a lovely clean, period style room. We were overcharged $500. However after returning home the manager readily took care of this. Our meals were quite good. I love this old hotel and would like to see it receive the care it deserves.
