The hotel is one where you never leave the hotel --- but you want to see the mountains and try the Creeper Trail, and look at antiques. As a result, in a two night stay, we didn't get to try everything the hotel offered. Spa services, port at the front desk at night, concierge duties were things we did. The complimentary breakfast was quite good athough restricted to 3 items - not especially gourmet. The dinner was satisfactory but I expected better. Would I go again? Absolutely.

Ok, I've reviewed this property before, but we stayed again (3rd time) and we booked their Sunday Night Special. $95 per person and it includes dinner at Sisters as well as a full breakfast the next morning. Now this is a deal!!! We love to stay here because it is within riding distance to the beginning of the Virginia Creeper Trail. If you've never done this you must! The hotel has bikes of their own (for rent I believe) or you can bring your own and they have a place to lock them up. That's what we do. After a day of riding, we love to relax on the oversized front porch before preparing for an amazing dinner at Sisters. We started with the Shitake Mushroom Potstickers (Great choice) and full salads (choice of about 6 of them) and for our main entree we had the Filet of Beef and fresh salmon. Incredible! The steak was as tender as one from Ruth's Chris and the Salmon was topped with a horseradish sauce. Full dessert too. All for the price of the room. Speaking of the room, we stayed in 402 this time. Smaller Queen room but still bright with two huge windows overlooking the front of the property. The only reason I rate this property a 4 is the bed. It is in need of replacement. Very hard and squeaky. The last visit we stayed in the suite across the hall (401) and the King bed and bedding were so dreamy that my husband and I literally took the name of the bedding and went home and ordered them. It's time they do the same in this room. But other than that, all was great. In room coffee, no fridge or micro, but hairdryer and robes are provided. This room even has a steamer for your clothes. Nice touch. Fluffy towels too. Oh, for those who require an elevator, it only goes to the 2nd floor. Stairs after that, so if you can't climb, or desire not to, make sure you ask for a room that accommodates you. Finally, the staff from the front desk to the restaurant were top notch. Jennifer at Sisters was one of the best waitstaff I've ever had! I will continue to visit and stay at this property and gladly recommend it to anyone visiting the area....don't forget to ask for the Sunday Night Special!

We stopped in at the end of August in the way to the Smoky Mountains. Great history, great outside grounds, and nice little town. Go visit the Abington Olive Oil store down the street and taste dozens of oils and vinegars. And read up on some of the spooky ghost stories that are part of the town and inn!

We stayed one night at this historic Inn. The room was nice and the service was excellent. When we pulled up there was a bellman ready to take our bags. The staff at check-in were also very helpful. We were on the fourth floor, which could be a problem for some guests, as the elevator only goes to the third floor. You have to walk up a flight after that. We didn't mind as our bags were delivered quickly and the next morning the bellman was there to take them down to our car. The included breakfast at their restaurant Sisters, was very nice. All in all an enjoyable stay. Across the street is the Barters Theatre. If there is a show, you should go. We saw Million Dollar Quartet that night and loved it.

Just finished our 2nd stay at the Martha Washington Inn. The rooms are beautifully appointed with lovely soaps, shampoo, and lotions. The warm salt water pool is a favorite of ours and we were able to participate in a water aerobics class on our first day. The whirlpools are spectacular and so large! We both had massage treatments which were top rate. We ate in the on site dining room and had terrific dinner and breakfasts. A great place to come to see plays at the Barter Theatre across the street, and ride the Virginia Creeper Trail.
