The Oberoi Amarvilas, Agra

The first thing you notice are the fountains, the entrance is stunning with a kingfisher dipping in the pool. On entrance such a welcome and then you see the view of the Taj Mahal rising from the forest in front - breathtaking! Walking through the lounge to the terrace and seeing the stunning pool as if bounded by Mughal architecture and gardens - certainly the most beautiful I have swum in. As you enter your room you catch your breath again - that view. But beyond all the luxury and opulence there’s the people: my partner cannot eat spice so the head chef took the time to design a pasta dish that perfectly suited her palate; the guide who in the early morning gave us a perfect view of the romance of the Taj Mahal but also the detail of the exquisite workmanship and politics/customs of the times. He showed us that Agra has such much more to offer and the fort and the mini-Taj are both breathtaking in their own right and you dwell on the scale and beauty achieved in an earlier age, Our stay at the Oberoi Amarvilas will have a special place in our memories for the rest of our lives.

In this review, I'd like to highlight one specific aspect of this hotel's service: The people who work here. 1. Tour guide: On my request, the hotel arranged for a tour guide named Mr Sandeep to show me around Agra for the day. Mr Sandeep was very well versed with history - answering all my innumerable questions with patience, confidence, nuance, and a cheery demeanour. It was memorable to see his endearment of his profession, and I hope he gets to spread his knowledge to other travellers as well. 2. Staff: I felt quite touched by how warm, congenial, and helpful nature of every person I encountered there. Everyone was wholesome, and spirited in their enthusiasm to make my stay there a memorable one. I was taken care of attentively and courteously - with the staff personally helping me when I informed them that I was running late to catch a train.

Fantastic property, amazing hospitality, beautiful views. Entering this property felt like coming home and the detail to which the staff care for your experience is exceptional.

My wife and I stayed at this lovely hotel to visit the Taj Mahal, and our room had the most breathtaking view of it! The staff made the trip even more special with their attention to detail for all our needs! The Oberoi Amarvilas is simply fantastic!
