Xandari Resort & Spa in Alajuela, Costa Rica
Immerse yourself in lush tropical beauty, surrounded by 40 acres of vibrant landscape high above Costa Rica's Central Valley, and soak in the sunny skies of Xandari Resort & Spa. Just outside of San Jose, this amazing resort - with approximately three miles of scenic trails, a river and waterfalls - will show you the true wonder of Central America. Stunning guest villas offer flowing architecture that winds through the gardens and creates a modern-meets-tropical design that is at once elegantly stunning and gracefully tranquil. Bright and open rooms are spacious and breezy, with gleaming tiled floors, pure white walls, and vivid colorful accents - all tied in to the rich wood décor and furniture. Brilliant natural light streams in through large sliding glass doors, while the views from private garden terraces will truly take your breath away.
As the sun rises over the valley take a leisurely morning stroll through the resort's botanical gardens, feeling the cool breeze as it carries the myriad songs of birds. Enjoy a hike along 4 kilometers of trails through the dense jungles around the resort, following the Tacacori River to five magical waterfalls and cooling off with a dip in the pools. Venture out on a bird watching tour in the morning, followed by a walk through the greenhouse and farmyard, then stretch out by the pool for an afternoon cocktail. Take a day out in the valley for the Doka Coffee Tour, where you will learn all about the process of making coffee and can even pick your own. In the evening make your way into downtown San Jose to stroll d6own the beautifully lit streets, shopping in boutiques and charming local shops, stopping for a drink at a café, and delving into the fabulous street food. With the sun setting over the valley now, after a full day of adventure and relaxation, return to the resort for dinner at the restaurant, where delicious Costa Rican cuisine is served outside as the sky becomes fiery reds and purples until the stars come out.

Reviews for Xandari Resort & Spa
What a beautiful hotel! The grounds are beautifully kept and secure. We enjoyed the spa. It was very professional and relaxing experience. The only complaint I would have is that the rooms are not sound proof. Our room was next to the kitchen and we could hear them. And the room next to us. The kitchen was fine because they are done at 9 pm. I would definitely stay here again!! Beautiful!

Xandari Resort & Spa is an extraordinarily maintained place (it gives the impression that the villas painted just before our arrival), with spectacular rooms, comfortable beds and pillows and a impeccable cleaning . Starting with an incredible view from the room and a very nice restaurant (quite expensive but the place is worth it). You can decide to relax in one of its four pools (the main one is the best with a fabulous view and a jacuzzi, or enjoy the view from comfortables chaise long conveniently placed on the terrace of your villa. If you want to go hiking, the resort has its own jungle with five beautiful waterfalls. Here you will be able to enjoy its varied flora and fauna.

We stayed one night here in September after landing in Costa Rica. It's only 20-30mins from the airport but you wouldn't know you're near the city as the hotel is surrounded by forest. We loved this hotel and would recommend it to anyone needing a stop over near San Jose. Food - we only had one evening meal and one breakfast but the food was great and the views even better. When it was chilly at night then even provided a shawl for your shoulders which was a nice touch. Rooms - the room was huge! 2 double beds, wet room, kitchen area and huge covered terrace overlooking the forest. If we had spent more nights here we would have spent so long just sitting on the terrace watching all the wildlife (hummingbirds, toucans, hawks, squirrels etc etc). Bear in mind there is no air con (which was fine for us). Grounds - the hotel is set within large gardens which were beautiful. There are trails down to the waterfalls which were filled with wildlife. The trails are LONG so make sure you leave enough time (and take a raincoat just in case). They also include lots of steps/quite steep areas so wear walking boots. It's worth it though!

The place is simply awesome, the trails are great and the waterfalls are simply beautiful, specially #4 with the perfect platform to observe it........ The food, you have have to try it to believe, it's delicious...... Fernando & Lucia Cartago, Costa Rica
My fiance' and i really enjoyed this resort, beautiful grounds, artwork, and rooms were very comfortable and clean. The staff were all very pleasant and the food was great. The Spa was very relaxing and tranquil. I am a local gringo living in Arenal, and I will be going back to Xandari next week during my business in San Jose. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting peace and tranquillity. If you want wifi and television, you may want to pick another hotel. Thanks Xandari and pura vida!!!
