Xandari Resort & Spa in Alajuela, Costa Rica
Immerse yourself in lush tropical beauty, surrounded by 40 acres of vibrant landscape high above Costa Rica's Central Valley, and soak in the sunny skies of Xandari Resort & Spa. Just outside of San Jose, this amazing resort - with approximately three miles of scenic trails, a river and waterfalls - will show you the true wonder of Central America. Stunning guest villas offer flowing architecture that winds through the gardens and creates a modern-meets-tropical design that is at once elegantly stunning and gracefully tranquil. Bright and open rooms are spacious and breezy, with gleaming tiled floors, pure white walls, and vivid colorful accents - all tied in to the rich wood décor and furniture. Brilliant natural light streams in through large sliding glass doors, while the views from private garden terraces will truly take your breath away.
As the sun rises over the valley take a leisurely morning stroll through the resort's botanical gardens, feeling the cool breeze as it carries the myriad songs of birds. Enjoy a hike along 4 kilometers of trails through the dense jungles around the resort, following the Tacacori River to five magical waterfalls and cooling off with a dip in the pools. Venture out on a bird watching tour in the morning, followed by a walk through the greenhouse and farmyard, then stretch out by the pool for an afternoon cocktail. Take a day out in the valley for the Doka Coffee Tour, where you will learn all about the process of making coffee and can even pick your own. In the evening make your way into downtown San Jose to stroll d6own the beautifully lit streets, shopping in boutiques and charming local shops, stopping for a drink at a café, and delving into the fabulous street food. With the sun setting over the valley now, after a full day of adventure and relaxation, return to the resort for dinner at the restaurant, where delicious Costa Rican cuisine is served outside as the sky becomes fiery reds and purples until the stars come out.

Reviews for Xandari Resort & Spa
My husband and I spent two nights here during our honeymoon. One on our arrival to Costa Rica, and one at the end. This hotel is beautiful, and for being so close to San Jose and the airport feels very tranquil. Our villa was huge, and we loved our private balcony. The grounds are lush and beautiful, and I loved that there was more than one pool. We had 2 breakfasts at the hotel and one dinner, and all were delicious. We were very pleasantly surprised to see how large the included buffet breakfast was. The staff was wonderful, and we would not hesitate to recommend this to friends, and stay here again!

Nicest possible staff, immaculate comfortable rooms thoughtfully laid out, gorgeous views. Pools are exquisite (swimming in the Sunset pool with the view is an amazing experience). Restaurant is excellent, with consistently good food and absolutely loving service. My husband and I would consider returning to Costa Rica just to stay here, as the ambiance of total relaxation in this natural environment is really special.
What a lovely, wonderful resort! And so close to the airport in San Jose! If I had known it was only 25 minutes away I would have stayed here when we fly into San Jose as well! The rooms are spotless. The beds very comfortable. The scenery beautiful. The view fantastic-- from the rooms, from the restaurant, and from the pool! Staff were extremely friendly and nice. Food was delicious! Just a really terrific place to stay in Costa Rica!!

This place is beautiful and perfect last stop rather than San Jose capital. The villas are huge as are the grounds with lovely hikes. I walked one of the routes and ended up at the infinity pool which I had completely to myself. Views are stunning and I absolutely loved the architecture and art. I found the staff and service friendly and excellent, and good food too. If you need good wifi you might need to use in main reception but the room information makes it clear that it is limited in room. I didn't hear any noise at all from local traffic.
My spouse and I have stayed at Xandari 10+ times over the last 15 years and wanted to put the complaints of the prior reviewer in perspective. Yes there is some noise in the morning from roosters, dogs on the adjacent properties and traffic but have had no problem with the shower or the windows. Given the many exceptional aspects of the property mentioned in prior reviews and not having found anyplace close to the exceptional qualities of Xandari compared to the various alternatives relatively close to the AP, we decided long ago to put up with the noise and enjoy the accommodations, beauty of the property and the wonderful on site hikes. If there is some place better within 15-20 minutes from the airport, please let us know. Also the staff is wonderful. We are scheduled to return to Xandari coming and going next year.
