Immerse yourself in lush tropical beauty, surrounded by 40 acres of vibrant landscape high above Costa Rica's Central Valley, and soak in the sunny skies of Xandari Resort & Spa. Just outside of San Jose, this amazing resort - with approximately three miles of scenic trails, a river and waterfalls - will show you the true wonder of Central America. Stunning guest villas offer flowing architecture that winds through the gardens and creates a modern-meets-tropical design that is at once elegantly stunning and gracefully tranquil. Bright and open rooms are spacious and breezy, with gleaming tiled floors, pure white walls, and vivid colorful accents - all tied in to the rich wood décor and furniture. Brilliant natural light streams in through large sliding glass doors, while the views from private garden terraces will truly take your breath away.

We stayed at Xandari for 8 nights in mid-May 2026 during our Costa Rica trip and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The property is spread across beautiful grounds with walking trails, waterfalls, gardens, and great views of the Central Valley. We stayed in the Star Villa, which was spacious, private, and comfortable. One of our favorite parts of the stay was waking up to the sounds of birds and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. We especially enjoyed exploring the trails within the property. The waterfalls were a pleasant surprise and made the walks feel like an adventure. We also spent some time visiting the farm and appreciated how connected the resort feels to nature. The restaurant had excellent views, and we enjoyed several meals there during our stay. The staff were friendly and attentive throughout our visit. A special thank you to Karla and Dilan at reception, and Erica and Sophia at the restaurant, for making us feel welcome and well cared for throughout our stay. We had very pleasant weather during our visit, which allowed us to fully enjoy both the property and our day trips around Costa Rica. After busy days of sightseeing, it was nice to return to a quiet and relaxing place each evening. Overall, Xandari was a great base for exploring the area, and we would gladly stay there again.

This is a hidden gem. I’m from Costa Rica but my husband is American and we are always looking for spots to visit and recommend our friends. Xandari has been by far the best hotel we’ve visited this close to the city/airport. We could’ve easily avoid renting a car if we only wanted to enjoy the hotel amenities (it has enough trails to enjoy a 2 or 3 day trip). The highlight was the spa; we got a couples 4h experience that left me completely relaxed. Irene and Lisbeth were amazing, they made us super comfortable from the beginning and personalized the treatment at every step. I’m definitely coming back!

Our only regret is not staying here longer - we used it as a 1 night spot so we could get to the airport quickly the next morning but we'd stay here for 3-4 nights next time.

Quite simply the most beautiful hotel I have ever stayed in. The attention to detail in the design is impeccable. The colours wonderfully complement the vivid colours cape of Costa Rica and the service was faultless.

This resort is absolutely wonderful. Staff is extremely welcoming and friendly. The food and service was excellent. I enjoyed the gorgeous views here and environment. There was quite a bit of wildlife to see, as well as plants. The waterfalls were worth the hike. There was also an activity to create your own painting. The massages were great as well. Highly recommend this resort.

We love Xandari. You have the perfect combination of elegance and comfort, without the pretension and over solicitousness of other comparable hotels.

My experience at Xandari has been more than value...it's about personal warmth and touch. Gentility is a rare treasure in the service industry. Costa Rica offers this on many levels and Xandari exceeds it.

We have never been to a place where the imprint of human creativity is so well balanced with the beauty of nature.

“Travel Dates: March 24-28, 2013 Room: Villa 3 We are from the States. We chose Xandari based upon ratings from the trip advisor website, its proximity to the San Jose airport and its centrally located position (w/r/t to the country as a whole). We chose to rent a vehicle (easy to drive in Costa Rica as long as u have a 4x4 vehicle and a GPS)- would recommend limited night time driving. Xandari was an oasis set on the hillside with beautiful views of San Jose. The first night we arrived, we were greeted by the bellman and hotel desk staff. We were quickly whisked away to our room. We had an Ultra villa, which was more than enough room for me and my wife. The room had a small collection of ants near the screen door (my wife is terrified of bugs so this was more of an issue for her). The staff was extremely apologetic and quickly made arrangements to transfer us to another room. They did so within 15 minutes and we failed to have another complaint. Service at the restaurant was great, especially given the laissez-faire attitudes of most Costa-Ricans. The grounds were well maintained. The staff was extremely attentive and responsive to any request. The rooms were cleaned well by the maids. The bed, at least in my unit, was comfortable. Things to note: No air-condition, but they do have fans upon request (it gets quite cool at night, so this wasn't a significant issue for us). No TVs in the room, but they do have one in the main house (more of an issue if u like to keep up on your sports, etc while on vacation). Mild-moderate amount of insects outside of your rooms, but keep in mind the resort is set in a hill side jungle, replete with water falls, etc so this should be expected”
