Like many others, we only stayed one night before leaving for the airport and wish we had booked for two. In our short time, we had a quick lunch, walked some of the trails, enjoyed a couples massage at dusk (thank you, Irene & Lisbeth, we really needed that and you all were so welcoming & professional), plus an amazing dinner. We didn’t catch our server’s name, but we loved him and thought everyone at the restaurant was amazing. Oscar arranged for a boxed breakfast, as we were leaving before their regular service begins, and it was full of delicious baked goods, fruit, and boiled eggs, plus canned juices. Our room was gorgeous with a very comfortable bed, fun art, lots of air & light and patio with incredible views. I loved watching distant lightning light up the sky over the valley throughout the night. We did so much in a short time here, but it’s a place I’d love to return to and slow down to really take it all in.

We stayed overnight upon arrival at San Jose Airport. Our room was very comfortable and breakfast superb. The only down side was aircraft noise late at night and there was a dog barking from 3am. We had a lovely walk in the grounds, before leaving in the morning.

We only stayed one night after our long flight to Costa Rica but would happily have stayed longer if we weren't traveling round the country. The staff were warm and welcoming. We had a nice meal in the restaurant on our first evening. Breakfast is a buffet help yourself, with enough choice of food and the fresh fruit was excellent! The rooms were very clean and very spacious and we had a stunning view over the gardens and San Jose from our terrace. We walked the hotel trails down to the waterfalls before breakfast. We saw many birds in the gardens and also saw raccoons on our terrace wall at night. You don't need aircon as the altitude makes it cooler.

Deahn gave me a massage and a facial. Both were relaxing and wonderful in the most enchanting outdoor setting. The massage was one of the best ever!

Outstanding location and beautiful rooms, the best was an absolutely fabulous massage from Irene, an extremely talented professional.

We love Xandari. You have the perfect combination of elegance and comfort, without the pretension and over solicitousness of other comparable hotels.

You have created wonder and magic, and have topped it off with a friendly and gracious staff.

My experience at Xandari has been more than value...it's about personal warmth and touch. Gentility is a rare treasure in the service industry. Costa Rica offers this on many levels and Xandari exceeds it.

We have never been to a place where the imprint of human creativity is so well balanced with the beauty of nature.

“Travel Dates: March 24-28, 2013 Room: Villa 3 We are from the States. We chose Xandari based upon ratings from the trip advisor website, its proximity to the San Jose airport and its centrally located position (w/r/t to the country as a whole). We chose to rent a vehicle (easy to drive in Costa Rica as long as u have a 4x4 vehicle and a GPS)- would recommend limited night time driving. Xandari was an oasis set on the hillside with beautiful views of San Jose. The first night we arrived, we were greeted by the bellman and hotel desk staff. We were quickly whisked away to our room. We had an Ultra villa, which was more than enough room for me and my wife. The room had a small collection of ants near the screen door (my wife is terrified of bugs so this was more of an issue for her). The staff was extremely apologetic and quickly made arrangements to transfer us to another room. They did so within 15 minutes and we failed to have another complaint. Service at the restaurant was great, especially given the laissez-faire attitudes of most Costa-Ricans. The grounds were well maintained. The staff was extremely attentive and responsive to any request. The rooms were cleaned well by the maids. The bed, at least in my unit, was comfortable. Things to note: No air-condition, but they do have fans upon request (it gets quite cool at night, so this wasn't a significant issue for us). No TVs in the room, but they do have one in the main house (more of an issue if u like to keep up on your sports, etc while on vacation). Mild-moderate amount of insects outside of your rooms, but keep in mind the resort is set in a hill side jungle, replete with water falls, etc so this should be expected”
