Reviews for Pine Cliffs Ocean Suites, Algarve

Excellent facilities and staff but overbooked

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 12 hours ago

Superb staff, restaurants and facilities.... however, it was very busy and under resourced during our stay.. alot of queing for breakfast and dinner. Sunbeds at beach were not available after 11am most mornings, Similarly loungers at pools were frequently all taken. I felt the management sensed this as they tried to resolve the issues with extra tables at breakfast and extra sun loungers appearing by the pools during the week. The half board buffet offering is poor for a 5 star resort. I felt the resort was overpopulated for a 5 star stay and queuing 15 to 20 minutes most evenings left a bad taste when you are paying 5 star prices.

Great Resort however could be better

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

I believe is one of the most amazing resorts I’ve ever been. Nothing to complain, the apartment is amazing, everything in good order, I couldn’t find any faults.Even if we are far away from the beach (30 minutes walk) you could call for a shuttle to take you over, so nothing to complain. However I did not agree with the hotel to charge you for the coffee inside the room, everywhere where I went in a holiday around the globe , no hotel charge for it. Working with hotel industry in London makes the resort looking that they want to make money from everything and not respecting them guests. So this is a big minus from us. Regarding the housekeeping, the blinds could be hoovered so when you checked in you don’t need to have scared kids because of the spiders, also I did put the card on the bed , so the bed linen to be changed after 5 days , however they decide to ignore it. I’ve read about people complaining about the restaurants inside the resort been very pricey, however we did enjoy the food almost in all of them except the one which is a buffet style and is not worth to spend your money for it. Overall a good resort with really nice restaurants, pools, beach, lots of activities and friendly staff.

Do not visit if you require facilities for a person with mobility issues/ in a wheelchair

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

This is a nice hotel but I would categorise it as a 4.5 star, not a 5 star hotel. I travelled with a family member who has difficulty walking. I asked two things: - can you make a wheelchair available during our stay. They could not and gave me an email address for a local provider — cot EUR 50 to hire for one week. Any other 5* hotels we have stayed at in the Canary Islands, Italy or in the Middle East have all had one available. - secondly, I asked for a room with disabled facilities. In the entire hotel, I was advised that there were only 2 such rooms - both had a double bed. I asked if they could make it into a twin room. The answer was no. On the night we arrived, we went to see one of these rooms. There was a handle beside the toilet but the shower had no disabled facilities at all. This is very unsatisfactory. The night we checked in, I told the gentleman at Reception that I would like to speak with the hotel Manager at some point during our stay. I was never contacted. My final comment is that they charge EUR 2 per capsule to refill coffee capsules in your room. Any other decent hotel will provide more free of charge.

Brilliant resort & visit

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We had a fabulous week at this stunning hotel, it is really well looked after and the pool and garden areas are beautiful. There are a few odd things - you get two complimentary bottles of water a day but apart from our last couple of days we had to phone up to get them delivered. Likewise with glasses in the room, quite often the dirty ones were taken and we had to phone up to get glasses for the room. You get nine coffee pods in the room and a sign that says they’re complimentary and if you need a refill to ask, we asked and were told that there was a charge of €5.50 per pod, seems a bonkers amount! But those were the only grumbles; air con in the room was excellent (we like to sleep in ice cold temperatures), the towel system really worked (you get given 1 gold card per person which you give in for a towel and get given back when you return the towel), it seemed to stop people getting up at the crack of dawn to reserve beds and also leaving towels on beds for hours during the day. There were loads of beds by the pools and on the grass and we saw loads stacked up so I don’t think you would have to worry even when the hotel was super busy. The food in all the restaurants was fabulous, we had lunch most days and we ate in the steak restaurant once. The prices are on the high side; for lunch we would have a beer, glass of wine and two mains and you would be looking at c.€65. However you’re only 20mins in a taxi from Vilamoura and the same to Albufeira and you’re a 20min walk from Olhos de Água so lots of choice if you do want to get out and about. The champagne bar is worth a visit for drinks over the cliffs in the evening as well. It was my husbands birthday whilst we were away and the hotel gave us a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine and a lovely note as well. We have been so impressed that we are already talking about going back! A fabulously relaxed holiday! Thanks to all the amazing staff who were all excellent and friendly!

only played golf

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Only played golf here, but the resort itself looks great. The golf course is 9holes and its ok, par 3s and 4s only not to tough. The club house is nice and the staff were very good. The lunch i had there was very nice and looking around everyone seemed happy enough, waiters very good and polite.

Thank you for a lovely stay at Sheraton Algarve Hotel. We enjoyed it very much indeed. We really appreciated the room upgrade, the bottle of port, and we were most impressed with the property. I must also say that all the staff that we dealt with were very helpful which also makes a big difference.
