Pine Cliffs Resort is amazing! We stayed for 12 nights and all were great. The grounds are beautifully maintained and lovely. You could not ask for better. We had a few cooler days in April however still enjoyed touring the near by towns and area. There are several beautiful pools to choose from and activities for all ages to enjoy. The views of the ocean and sunset in the evening are magical, and lovely beach to enjoy and walk are a must. The food in the restaurants and cafes was delicious. The staff are incredibly kind and helpful. Marilia Bjurstrom in the golf course restaurant is most lovely, kind, pleasant, professional and really made our stay fantastic. Her level of caring for guests truly shows, she is excellent! We look forward to returning next year!

Stunning Location, Underwhelming Experience.

We recently attended a family friend's wedding in Portugal and stayed at the Pine Cliffs Estate, which truly has a stunning setting. Perched on a cliff overlooking the ocean and surrounded by beautiful trees, the location is spectacular. However, beyond the location, the experience didn't quite live up to our expectations for a five-star hotel. During check-in, one of the front desk agents was kindly explaining the layout of the hotel to us, but this was completely overshadowed by another agent who was loudly talking on his cellphone in Portuguese for the entire duration of our check-in, making it quite an unpleasant welcome. As for the breakfast, it was quite disappointing for a hotel of this supposed caliber. All coffee was dispensed from automatic machines, which unfortunately gave it a consistently burnt taste. For a nightly rate exceeding 500 euros, one would expect a higher quality breakfast with perhaps a barista serving freshly made coffee. The selection was ample, but the quality was lacking; many items tasted as if they were from a low-end supermarket, just reheated and served at the buffet. The recurring theme throughout our stay was the low quality of service and food being served. We visit Portugal every year and this was the first time we experienced something like this at a supposed five-star hotel. This discrepancy between the magnificent setting and the lackluster service and dining options was particularly striking and disappointing.

Restaurant staff accused us of lying.

The room started out with an ant infestation. We were changed rooms to a more run down room with water damage on the walls and peeling paint. The main problem was when we went to the restaurant Mare. Staff overcharged us, charging 4 ice creams instead of the 3 we got. When we pointed this out, staff took off the extra ice cream, but then stated 'I took it off the bill but you really got 4 ice creams'. My 2 kids and my father got ice creams. When I pointed out this was 3, he then pointed a finger in my face and accused me of getting an ice cream too (I am diabetic and do not eat ice cream). He then got another staff (the one that served the ice cream) and she proceeded to also tell us we got 4 ice creams. Finally, after a lot of back and forth and having to defend myself repeatedly, she finally said that it was a busy day and perhaps she miscounted. There was no apology. I understand mistakes happen and I have never had this kind of experience when I have been incorrectly charged on a restaurant tab in the past. This was a ridiculous situation given how much we spent on food at this restaurant, not to mention the thousands of dollars we spent on rooms, dining, golf reservations, kids activities. We refused to dine at this location any further. There are numerous places to stay at the Algarve, given the poor treatment by the staff here, I would recommend staying elsewhere.

Beautiful Resort and Location, but shouldn't be charging for coffee pods

Beautiful hotel, but I find it ridiculous that such a great hotel would charge $2 per coffee pod and they don't refill them each morning. I've stayed in rough hotels in the past and they still would not charge for coffee pods to make in the hotel.

Nice hotel but needs to make some improvements

3/5 Lovely resort but pools all freezing. If you are going with children it is highly unlikely they will want to go near the water. This affects the holiday and it’s sad the kids can’t get into the water. They should heat one pool outside. The indoor pool is also cold! As it was quiet they closed most of the restaurants so most of the guests were herded into 2 restaurants each night. This made it feel crowded but you could access all the facilities. They only open all the restaurants in July and August. So although they advertise the gourmet restaurants most of the year you can’t eat at them. The cleaners in the room were fantastic and our 2 bed apartments was very spacious and opened up directly onto the ocean suites pool which was nice. There was no entertainment in the evenings so it was very quiet once the sunset. It would have been nice to have one of the bars with a singer or a band in the evenings.
