Reviews for The Residence Maldives

Holiday with friends

This resort was absolutely fantastic , beyond my expectations. We were met in Male by The Residence representative who escorted us to the lounge and and then checked us and our baggage in when our flight was ready to depart to Koodoo island. Once we arrived in Koodoo we were met again and escorted to the boat for our transfer. This baot trip was approx 10 minutes and we arrived the resort at approx 6pm. Check in was streamless. We awoke the following morning to an amazing view from our overwater bungalow. It was breathtaking . The rooms are very large , sitting area, bedroom and large bathroom. The resort is fantastic. Having the option to ride ,walk or catch the buggy between the two islands was awesome. The beach bar between the islands is so beautiful. All the restaurants were fantastic , food was delicious and staff were so pleasant . The only thing I would maybe recommend to be improved would be the jet ski ride. I was hoping to see abit more of the bays within the two islands and have someone give some knowledge of the island, the sea creatures and any other local information. We literally went flat out around the island and really saw nothing as we were too far away. I would highly recommend this resort though , there were no negatives , all positives. Many thanks to all the staff who made our holiday so memorable. XX

Fantastic resort

We had a 7 night stay at this fantastic resort at the end of February 2024. The location is very far down south from Male, which involved quite a lengthy domestic flight, but was worth it when we arrived. We stayed in a sunrise-facing over-water villa (number 123) with an infinity pool. The villa was very spacious, clean and contained all the necessary amenities. All staff were friendly and professional, and are a credit to the resort and the hospitality industry. Big shout-outs to the following staff members for excellent service: Hafiz at The Dining Room Dhigurra Hassan at the Beach Bar Falhumaafushi Aali at the Water Sports Centre Dhigurra Ravi at the Fires Private Dinner experience Jaavid at The Dining Room Falhumaafushi Hasan at Li Bai We highly recommend staying at this resort for a memorable Maldives experience.

Excellent service and wonderful resort

We stayed at the Residence Maldives for 6 nights for a long delayed honeymoon mid-April. We booked on Booking.com, and reserved an over-the water pool villa. My review sums up in one word - excellent. Truly 5 star resort. Amazing service from everyone in the resort, from the moment we were met at the Male Airport (we had to do nothing, we were met by their representative and everything was taken care of and seamless with the internal flight and boat) to the moment we left. Everyone always has a smile on, is super quick to meet your request and the staff are genuinely nice people. The bar staff, the cleaning staff, the reception staff, the restaurants staff...amazing.  The room was nice and clean. Amazing views of the bay, the sunset and the sea. No complaints at all and truly 5 star facilities here. Word of advice, however - there are two resorts in fact, and we booked Falhuma (we didn't know, so it's probably on us). The Dihurah is larger and newer.  Getting between the two is easy though on the bicycles provided (or the golf carts you can ask for a ride in if you're so inclined). We asked for a room change as I wanted to be able to get into the sea from our villa and the reception supervisor Shawin was super helpful and accommodating. The resort manager as well, Mr. Visham, came to check in on us. Truly excellent service as they didn't need to accommodate.  I'll end with the food and drink. All inclusive package is amazing. The choice of drinks at the bars and restaurants was more than adequate (for example, 4-5 gins to choose from, including Bombay and tanqueray, Glenfiddich 12 and more premium alcohol, plenty of cocktail choices, 4+ red wine choices, etc). I don't understand the reviews that said the choice is limited. It is not, so book with confidence if that is a concern. The only downside is the room minibar only has beer, for anything else you need to go to the nearest bar that's always a few minutes away. No issues. Restaurants were great, food delicious and good menu choices. Most lunch and dinner options are a la carte, so beware of you're a quantity over quality person (like me), though they were super accommodating with providing an extra dish if requested. Resort wasn't fully occupied (maybe 30%) during our stay so our experience was wonderful and romantic, but I can't imagine even at peak it would be anything but great judging by the service we received.  I highly recommend the resort and if we ever return to the Maldives, we will stay here again, no doubt. Thank you to everyone there who made our honeymoon great!

superlative, snorkeling

I agree with the five-star reviews. I can't really think of a negative. The rooms were spotless, spacious, and well equipped. The view over the ocean and the porch was spectacular. it was nice not having to worry about the mini bar with an inclusive meal plan. faultless. the service. everybody was caring and helpful and went out of their way. there were no stars as everybody was a star. faultless the snorkeling. we had heard that there was bleaching in the Maldives. it seems to have skipped most of the reef in this resort. we saw so many types of fish. we saw a turtles and reef sharks. I would say the best snorkeling was from the dive center on the adjacent island. stop in at the dive center for some tips. basically you go down the stairs and head out to the white buoy. You continue to the other white buoy. what you will see is amazing. we also went on some snorkel trips which again were just fantastic. The only thing I'll say is, the reef at the house was just as good. I will say this as an experienced snorkeler that has been everywhere from Cozumel to Indonesia. it's a good time here. faultless the food. The food was fresh and plentiful. there are two more fancy restaurants that need reservations. these are worthwhile. One was French and one was Italian or Cantonese. The islands are fairly long and laid out in an linear fashion. this means that you either need to take a golf cart or bicycle if you're going long distances. I loved bicycling around this place. there are two islands that are run by the same resort and are equally furnished. One has a children's center in the middle of the two islands. there is a strand of beach with a bar. everything was thought out. I have not been to other resorts in the Maldives so I can't say that this is the greatest resort in the maldives. however, it was pretty darn great.

Nine Days in Absolute Paradise!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

The Residence Maldives is such a lovely resort. Absolutely paradise and was the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary. Getting to and from any remote island is always a bit challenging, but this resort handles everything for you and always with a smile! They are excellent at communicating and responding in a timely manner. The genuinely, warm hearted staff who work in all areas of this resort are at the core of what makes this place so nice.I wish I had written down more of their specific names to give them due credit...especially our villa attendant (her name began with two A's...something like Aaeshia, but I am not certain....hopefully management will take note as she was so pleasant and very helpful - we were in Villa #319 from April 3-12th). The Residence Maldives is a quiet place with varied activities to do on both Falhumaafushi and on the island of Dhiguraah which is connected by a lovely, scenic bridge between the two islands. Bicycles are provided with each villa and were a wonderful way to get around everywhere on the island and between the two islands. Although we do recommend using the bicycles, if you don't want to ride a bike, just call for a "buggy" and staff with a golf cart, within 10-15 minutes, will come to pick you up and take you anywhere on the two islands. We stayed in an overwater villa with a private pool attached (which we highly recommend due to the hot weather). The view from our villa was absolutely amazing with stunning sunsets every day (villa # 319). While food is all inclusive at this resort, we highly recommend the Falhumaa restaurant (which has an additional cost).....the food there was well worth the reasonable extra cost and the setting out on the ocean is simply spectacular, especially at night. We also did afternoon high tea at that same restaurant which was very nice as well. Another highlight for us was the Earth Basket lunch which we experienced on the island of Dhiguraah with Chef Samson as our guide and chef....cannot say enough about this wonderful, personal experience which we highly recommend! We also did the couples massage at the Clarins Spa at the resort....best massages both of us have ever had and it was in a lovely, open air, overwater bungalow setting.....highly recommend! I could write so much more about this wonderful, relaxing resort, but there would not be enough room allowed for that review. Just go there and have a wonderful time at The Residence Maldives...it will be the trip of a lifetime which you will always remember.
