NH Collection Grand Hotel Convento di Amalfi in Amalfi Salerno, Italy

Seemingly molded into the side of a jagged cliffside is the Grand Hotel Convento di Amalfi – part of the LVX collection of Preferred Hotels & Resorts. Teetering high above the Amalfi Coast, this former 13th-century monastery is now a glorious hotel situated along the Italian seaboard. Impeccably restored to its original splendor, yet not without expected conveniences, the Grand Hotel features just 53 tasteful rooms and suites with a white motif and latte accents. French doors push open revealing Juliet-style balconies encased with ornate iron balustrades and million-dollar seascape views. The hotel's crisp alabaster color scheme is infused with brilliant hues courtesy of blooming bougainvillea, leafy emerald plants and azure reflections from the sea.

While it is tempting to want to luxuriate behind the doors of your exquisite chamber, there are plenty of public spaces that deserve accolades as well. An infinity-edge pool has a Romanesque feel with a tiled deck, ample-size loungers and incredible ocean vistas. The wellness center features a hammam and an array of spa treatments. There is also an on-site 13th-century Norman-Arab cloister and spectacular loggia with stunning vistas that is a favorite subject of plein air artists. Grand Hotel's Dei Cappuccini restaurant is a wonderful discovery, again with amazing views, coupled with rich, Italian flavors. The hotel's beach is open from the early morning until dusk and features a barefoot bar and restaurant plus complimentary umbrella, sun beds and towels. Among the hotel's many assets is its romantic location. The charming terraced towns, eye-catching confetti-colored buildings, and la dolce vita attitude will stick with you long after you have left this paradisio.

The 4 days staying at the hotel was the best experience we have ever had in our life. The view of the coast from the terrace was extraordinarily great and service of the staff was very comfortable, especially a special birthday cake for me. There was the only Japanese restaurant in amalfi called KYUSHU in the hotel. We definitely recommend you this restaurant if you like SUSHI and SASHIMI. We grantee that the quality is better than most of them in Japan.

Ohmygod is all I have to say. In the best possible way! I've been to more than a few remarkable hotels and stayed at more than a few magical places but really nothing like this particular hotel. It's the perfect unique and stylish hotel offering the most magical views with the best location ever. From the quaint bedrooms to adorable balconies overlooking the town to the infinity pool you will fall in love with this hotel the second you step foot here. An old monastery it still carries some of that spiritual magic and "zen ness" that I can only assume monasteries would have. The only problem with staying here is that you might never want to leave. Stay here if you're looking for phenomenal views, very friendly staff and great service.

Basically you don't want to leave the hotel. The infinity pool, Service from Lorenzo at the pool, the drinks. The white rooms with super comfortable bed and pillows. A short stroll to the village centre made an unbelievable experience. Worth it every cent! The spa is great too!

We had an amazing stay. The pool was lovely and my massage and pedicure so relaxing and is recommended. The room was perfect and the cleaning extremely accurate. The food in both restaurants simply delicious.

A unique and stylish hotel offering fabulous views, very friendly staff and great service but for the price point the rooms are a little on the spartan side and the dining options limited and not good value. Pool is gorgeous but we often struggled to find space to relax around it.
