NH Collection Grand Hotel Convento di Amalfi in Amalfi Salerno, Italy

Seemingly molded into the side of a jagged cliffside is the Grand Hotel Convento di Amalfi – part of the LVX collection of Preferred Hotels & Resorts. Teetering high above the Amalfi Coast, this former 13th-century monastery is now a glorious hotel situated along the Italian seaboard. Impeccably restored to its original splendor, yet not without expected conveniences, the Grand Hotel features just 53 tasteful rooms and suites with a white motif and latte accents. French doors push open revealing Juliet-style balconies encased with ornate iron balustrades and million-dollar seascape views. The hotel's crisp alabaster color scheme is infused with brilliant hues courtesy of blooming bougainvillea, leafy emerald plants and azure reflections from the sea.

While it is tempting to want to luxuriate behind the doors of your exquisite chamber, there are plenty of public spaces that deserve accolades as well. An infinity-edge pool has a Romanesque feel with a tiled deck, ample-size loungers and incredible ocean vistas. The wellness center features a hammam and an array of spa treatments. There is also an on-site 13th-century Norman-Arab cloister and spectacular loggia with stunning vistas that is a favorite subject of plein air artists. Grand Hotel's Dei Cappuccini restaurant is a wonderful discovery, again with amazing views, coupled with rich, Italian flavors. The hotel's beach is open from the early morning until dusk and features a barefoot bar and restaurant plus complimentary umbrella, sun beds and towels. Among the hotel's many assets is its romantic location. The charming terraced towns, eye-catching confetti-colored buildings, and la dolce vita attitude will stick with you long after you have left this paradisio.

My husband and I were recently married in Ravello and chose the GH Convento for our lunch time reception. We had one long table for 30 of our guests on the Locanda Terrace. The views and atmosphere were incredible, the food was to die for but what most impressed us was the hospitality of all the staff at this gorgeous hotel. The front desk and housekeeping were so warm and friendly- Antonella and Vittoria were amazing and looked after us so well. The hospitality staff were beyond amazing, Diego looked after my husband and I ensuring we ate throughout the day and was so lovely! He even helped us cut the wedding cake! Robyn managed our reception and did such an outstanding job. Our room was so special, we had one of the suites for our wedding night which had a huge terrace! If you're considering visiting this hotel, please do, I can't recommend it enough and if you're thinking about being married on the Amalfi coast- this is where you need to go! 10/10 in every way. Thank you everyone at the GH Convento for making our stay and overall experience so special, it's memories we will treasure forever.

It is a beautiful hotel in Amalfi. We stayed at 5 different hotels on our 2 week trip to Italy and preferred the boutiques hotels to the chain hotels. They have good customer service but lacked an ability to make you feel welcome or special. There wasn't the warmness we received at the boutique hotels. Hotel was clean, nice restaurant on site - although quite expensive. Heated pool all year round! They also have a spa. We finished our trip off with a massage. I had Nicole and she was great. Good location, just a 10 min walk to the main town square.

My partner and I travel as often as we can and we pick top of the range hotels and destinations. We thought we got used to stunning hotels and yet the Convento left us breathless. This hotel has the best view on the world renowned Amalfi coast and its distinctive and unique architecture - built into the hillside centuries ago - make it almost otherworldly. Rooms are spacious, modern yet in line with its historic past, bathroom is large and fully equipped. We had a coffee machine with lovely Italian coffee refreshed every day as well as beautiful complementary fruit. The staff are all beyond professional and friendly, extremely attentive and multilingual. Breakfast is to die for, i.e. freshly baked local products, wonderful fresh fruits and juices, amazing pastries and gluten free products. Also, breakfast is served on the magnificent monks walk, a long balcony on the cliff face overlooking the Amalfi harbour. The walk culminates in the hotel's infinity pool, surrounded with lemon trees and gorgeous flowers. The location is also quiet and yet within a walking distance from Amalfi centre itself and lovely restaurants, e.g. lo smeraldino (amazing pizza and lovely fish) and gran marina (more on the posh side, best fish ever). We loved the hotel's Japanese-Italian Kyushu restaurant - it is a must try for it combines the best of local products/dishes with a Japanese touch, and it is something really different as compared to the many good though conventional restaurants in the area. We could not recommend this hotel more and we hope to come back soon because we really relaxed and enjoy each and every feature of it! p.s. parking in Amalfi can be a pain. The hotel provides a very convenient parking service right in front of the entrance. Yet another plus!

From you enter this Amazing hotel you are meet by the most professionel, kind and helpfull assistance from the personel of the hotel that you can imagine. You feel welcome and relaxed. The hotel itself is a historical place situated up the mountain with a fantastic wiew over the see, Amalfi town and the Mountains. The arcitecture is kindly conected to the history of the place and extremely interesting. You can use days exploring the fantastic site. The restaurant is a must to visit. it is janapese oriented with very high quality. You will perhaps not find a better place to relax in an area - down the mountain - with many people arround

We stayed at this property during a recent family trip to Amalfi. The architecture and setting are breathtaking - it's high above the water with spectacular views of the bay. Our rooms had balconies with water views, and many of the common areas (e.g., breakfast terrace and the pool area) had amazing views as well. Breakfast was very good (which we found to be the exception rather than the rule in Italy). We did not eat dinner at the hotel because their restaurant was Asian and we wanted to enjoy local cuisine. Amalfi, which has many dining options and other attractions, is only a short walk (5 mins) from the hotel. The hotel has a small but functional gym and service was outstanding throughout our stay.
