NH Collection Grand Hotel Convento di Amalfi in Amalfi Salerno, Italy
Seemingly molded into the side of a jagged cliffside is the Grand Hotel Convento di Amalfi – part of the LVX collection of Preferred Hotels & Resorts. Teetering high above the Amalfi Coast, this former 13th-century monastery is now a glorious hotel situated along the Italian seaboard. Impeccably restored to its original splendor, yet not without expected conveniences, the Grand Hotel features just 53 tasteful rooms and suites with a white motif and latte accents. French doors push open revealing Juliet-style balconies encased with ornate iron balustrades and million-dollar seascape views. The hotel's crisp alabaster color scheme is infused with brilliant hues courtesy of blooming bougainvillea, leafy emerald plants and azure reflections from the sea.
While it is tempting to want to luxuriate behind the doors of your exquisite chamber, there are plenty of public spaces that deserve accolades as well. An infinity-edge pool has a Romanesque feel with a tiled deck, ample-size loungers and incredible ocean vistas. The wellness center features a hammam and an array of spa treatments. There is also an on-site 13th-century Norman-Arab cloister and spectacular loggia with stunning vistas that is a favorite subject of plein air artists. Grand Hotel's Dei Cappuccini restaurant is a wonderful discovery, again with amazing views, coupled with rich, Italian flavors. The hotel's beach is open from the early morning until dusk and features a barefoot bar and restaurant plus complimentary umbrella, sun beds and towels. Among the hotel's many assets is its romantic location. The charming terraced towns, eye-catching confetti-colored buildings, and la dolce vita attitude will stick with you long after you have left this paradisio.

Reviews for NH Collection Grand Hotel Convento di Amalfi
Put this on your bucket list, this is definitely one of the places you must visit, especially if you want a romantic getaway, with fantastic views in a beautiful location. We had a fantastic stay here, we stayed for three days and I wish we had booked for longer. Everybody at the hotel provided genuine and incredible service, but the stand out stars were Roberto who told us all about how to make Limoncello and who served our drinks, Flavia who introduced us to the hotel and remembered everything we told her on day one at the time of our checkout, Diego who looked after us at breakfast and Dinner and Salvatore the manager who made sure everybody was having a great time at the hotel. We would like to thank everybody at the hotel again for their hospitality and service and we will be returning at the earliest opportunity, I would recommend this hotel to anybody.

We had a lovely stay in Amalfi and we are so pleased we chose to stay at the NH hotel. The service of everyone working was exceptional and we could not have asked for more! Our room was beautiful and every time we needed something whether that be a booking for a boat, scooter or a restaurant the reception staff really went out of their way to secure what we asked for. I could not recommend this hotel more!
The entry to the hotel carved into the side of a cliff is very impressive. A little difficulty stopping in the middle of the road but the valets are extremely helpful to make it a smooth experience. Friendly staff and a great place to stay if you want to walk down to the heart of Amalfi.

This was our second visit to Il Convento and we were welcomed as old friends. The hotel assisted us with our airport transfers, dining arrangements (both in the hotel’s superb restaurant and in restaurants in Amafi) and arranging a day trip to Paestum. Nothing was too much trouble. The view from the hotel is amazing, the accommodation is of superb quality, but, once again, it is the level of service that makes this hotel world class.

We have stayed with the Hotel for 5 days immediately after getting married in Tuscany and boy was I disappointed in how the hotel treated us. Yes, the vista's are great and the breakfast was amazing but when on honeymoon you want extra attention from the stuff of the hotel and this is where the hotel really failed to delivered (which to be fair is a broader problem within the NH chain). For starters, this was the only hotel that didn't offer us as much as a glass of prosecco upon arrival (not mentioning room upgrades, even paid ones. Yes, I chose the hotel but it was paid for by my parents as part of our wedding gift and we would have taken even a paid upgrade have we been offered one. And what a bottle of prosecco would have cost the hotel? 10 Euro? Considering the 2k we have spend to stay for 4 night in this hotel that would have been basically nothing) or any words of congratulations - how hard is that? In contrast all the other hotels we have stayed in during this trip offered us upgrades and/or drinks and were super attentive to us, giving us recommendations, helping with luggage etc. The check out experience was even worse. As soon as we have paid the outstanding bar and restaurant bill the hotel staff lost any interest in us. We had three suitcases and no one offered help to take them to our car. Most annoying, when my husband asked whether someone was going to help the receptionist said "oh, you wanted me to call for someone?" yet never did. Same happened with our car - we were just given keys and received no help with our luggage or getting out of the parking lot which was a nightmare considering the heavy traffic on the road. I'm sorry, but at over 500 euro a night for the cheapest room I do expect better service. If you are thinking about a honeymoon - go elsewhere. As beautiful as the hotel is, I'm glad we didn't choose it for our wedding.
