NH Collection Grand Hotel Convento di Amalfi in Amalfi Salerno, Italy
Seemingly molded into the side of a jagged cliffside is the Grand Hotel Convento di Amalfi – part of the LVX collection of Preferred Hotels & Resorts. Teetering high above the Amalfi Coast, this former 13th-century monastery is now a glorious hotel situated along the Italian seaboard. Impeccably restored to its original splendor, yet not without expected conveniences, the Grand Hotel features just 53 tasteful rooms and suites with a white motif and latte accents. French doors push open revealing Juliet-style balconies encased with ornate iron balustrades and million-dollar seascape views. The hotel's crisp alabaster color scheme is infused with brilliant hues courtesy of blooming bougainvillea, leafy emerald plants and azure reflections from the sea.
While it is tempting to want to luxuriate behind the doors of your exquisite chamber, there are plenty of public spaces that deserve accolades as well. An infinity-edge pool has a Romanesque feel with a tiled deck, ample-size loungers and incredible ocean vistas. The wellness center features a hammam and an array of spa treatments. There is also an on-site 13th-century Norman-Arab cloister and spectacular loggia with stunning vistas that is a favorite subject of plein air artists. Grand Hotel's Dei Cappuccini restaurant is a wonderful discovery, again with amazing views, coupled with rich, Italian flavors. The hotel's beach is open from the early morning until dusk and features a barefoot bar and restaurant plus complimentary umbrella, sun beds and towels. Among the hotel's many assets is its romantic location. The charming terraced towns, eye-catching confetti-colored buildings, and la dolce vita attitude will stick with you long after you have left this paradisio.

Reviews for NH Collection Grand Hotel Convento di Amalfi
We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights with our 16 and 20 year old children. The hotel is absolutely superb and we couldn't fault it. We did make the trip down into Amalfi itself for our dinners each evening as the restaurant food seemed expensive in comparison to that available elsewhere but this just added to the holiday. The hotels position looking over Amalfi is the perfect location. You get the calm and tranquIlity of the hotel together with the bustle of Amalfi whenever you want to dip into it. We did tours of Pompeii and a boat trip to Capri whilst we were there as well. The parking was pricey but when you see how little parking is available on the entire coastline it seemed reasonable and so convenient for the hotel.

We have just had a fairytale wedding at this beautiful hotel, the rooms are incredible, the views stunning and service is impeccable. Special thanks to Roberta for organising every fine detail for our wedding reception and to Diego for a delivering 5 star service and seamlessly managing all the timings for our courses around the speeches four our spectacular wedding meal. We had 35 guests who all thougt the food was extraordinary. Our wedding cake was both a delight to look at and eat. Grand Hotel Convento Di Amalfi delivered the wedding of our dreams, thanks to all the team from Andrew & Sara Walker
After being on a choir tour across Italy with less than posh accommodations, we were ecstatic to stay in this exquisite hotel for 5 nights along the spectacular Amalfi Coastal area. What a luxury to look out our window onto the beautiful bay and see the many faces of Amalfi, a charming, delightful town and bay. The room was very comfy with a great bed and well-equipped, clean bathroom. The services at the valet stand and the restaurant were excellent. We dined at the restaurant two evenings and we were very pleased with the superb food choices and outstanding service. I hesitate to mention names because everyone was customer service focused, but Diego and the manager, Davide, were excellent. We had breakfast included and it was by far the best buffet of any town throughout Italy, with the exception of Venice and Rome. It was comparable to the 5 star hotels we stayed in. The valet service provided transportation from the hotel to Amalfi even if we missed the scheduled trip. One must recognize that this is a structure built on a sheer cliff and renovated from a structure that was built in the 13th Century. Well-worth the price for a once in a lifetime experience!

What a beautiful place! The hotel staff, without exception, went out of their way to make our stay memorable. All were professional and friendly - without being cloying. A stunning location and sympathetically converted from a convent to a hotel - respectful of its heritage.

This was our last stop on a tour of the Amalfi coast where we planned to relax in luxury after a busy week touring. Initial impressions were great, the porters stopped the traffic and parked our car immediately and soon got our luggage upstairs ready for check in. As we were early our room was not ready but we were given welcome drinks and the option of using the hotel facilities which we took full advantage of by swimming in the glorious infinity pool. The location of the hotel is perfect - up high on the hillside with great views and only a short walk from the town or you can catch the free shuttle bus which runs every hour. The hotel and grounds are beautiful and well maintained, it’s a nice touch that they kept some of the original monastery architecture in place. Staff were also wonderful, so friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much of a problem. So why did this hotel fall short for me? For the price I paid I expected to be wowed and despite booking a superior room I felt I had walked into a £50 a night Travel Lodge. It was clean and the bathroom was nice but we were basically squashed into a tiny box room. There wasn’t a balcony or full length doors to open and admire the view, everything was white like a hospital and there was nothing of luxury in the room, very disappointing! I found the parking at €25 a night very expensive as was the breakfast charge although the breakfast was very good. Lastly watch out for the young pool boy trying to accost you into taking a boat trip with his friend - he is obviously on commission for this and he didn’t want to take no for an answer!
