Great visit to El Pescador. We took advantage of their 2 for 1 summer promotion and I can tell you there is no better value out here. The short review…GO! I have traveled extensively in the Caribbean and the water on the flats here is second to none. Ken and Esa run a top notch fishing program, complimentary casting lessons, they match your fishing guides to your experience and temperament. We wanted patient teaching guides as we were novice fly fisher people. Both Cesar and Jeo worked to improve our cast and help us find fish. We caught numerous bone and hit the elusive grand slam of tarpon, permit and bone on our second day out with Jeo. The longer version: The resort is clean, well maintained, comfortable beds and surprising water pressure for the islands! This is primarily a fishing lodge but there were several non-anglers during our trip and they all enjoyed the property. Note: While the water in front of the lodge is beautiful with the reef breaking about ½ mile out, the beach is filled with grass and swimming there is not great, although I did enjoy a daily dip off the dock. The pool is Oceanside and beautiful. We grabbed a golf cart one day and went to the other side of the island to a beautiful beach where we enjoyed grilled lobster and relaxed. The staff here is very good at helping you plan your days and providing directions. The all inclusive option includes transport from Belize city by Tropic Air, a scenic 20 minute flight. From the moment you grab your bag on Ambergris Cay someone from the El Pescador family is taking care of you, handing you a cold beer as they transfer you to their private boat for the 15 minute ride to the hotels dock where you are greeted personally by Ken and Ann, bags brought to your room and given a property tour. Casting lessons daily from 3-5. All food and Belizian beer and rum drinks included as well as waters, soda, coffee, no nickel and dimeing. Breakfast and lunch are ala carte off the menu, dinner is family style, talented chef, there was a night with lobster, another with stonecrab, another with grilled beef. Fish always available and the desserts were wonderful. Sides had a nice island influence and reflected local products. Everything including the tortillas are made on property. They will pack your lunch if you are fishing. Fishing is included and you can adjust the number of days you want to fish. We chose 2 and then added snorkeling and a beach day. The boats are perfect for fishing but no shade so come prepared, Some of the runs out to the fishing grounds are long but the time flys as the scenery is so beautiful. Granted we had perfect weather. All in all, a great trip.

We just returned from a glorious 9 days at El Pescador. Though none of us are fly fishermen, my 15 year old son is obsessed with fishing and this trip was perfect for him and all the rest of us! We stayed at one of the villas and just loved the sense of having our own spot but also having all the convenience. We got the meal package and we're all thrilled with the food. Plenty of different choices and all meals pleased different palates. The staff here were all just amazing. Kind, helpful, knowledgeable and always right there when needed, but gave us all the space we wanted. We enjoyed the paddle boards and kayaks and lots of mellow time hanging out all the bar and multiple pools. And, the masseuse is amazing - don't miss that! Could not be more happy with our first trip to Belize and with El Pescador. While we didn't become fly fishermen while there, were still talking about coming back with even more family another time!

El Pescador Resort did such a great job of taking care us. This was our first salt water fly fishing trip and it did not disappoint. From the plane ride from Belize City to Ambergris Caye, the boat ride to the resort, the warm welcome on the dock to the tour of the resort we really felt welcome and that everything was taken care of. It was a really an easy holiday. All we had to do was enjoy ourselves. We enjoyed the fishing of course Junior was an amazingly fun guide who had immense patience with the needs of a husband wife team.We loved the country music and even though we did not land a tarpon he took us to a reserve where we could see what an amazing fish they are. On the days we fished we talked with our guide the night before to come up with a plan and woke up as early as we wanted to for a made to order breakfast, the lunch order was placed the night before and delivered to the boat. After a day of fishing it was fun to come back to the resort and talk to everyone about our day, practice casting, and participate in happy hour. Dinner was at 7, served family style and provided another opportunity to talk about our day fishing. On the days we did not go out fishing we slept in, had lunch at the resort, were able to catch bonefish from the shore, visit "Secrete Beach" and snorkel (we brought our own equipment)

My wife and I had a short weekend available, just two days of fishing, but we made the most of it. The "Family" at El Pescador Resort made the stay a fun filled weekend ....we WILL be back...Its a fishing lodge type of resort, but upon your arrival we were welcomed "Home"... a big smile and handshake...the office staff was so nice and helpful and Ken and Anne ( the GM's) were always around and great company. Dinners were fantastic and are family style, the kitchen and Bar staff always had a smile and enjoyed talking with you, the operative word around here is "Family"... you also meet such nice people and families from all around the world.... On to the fishing my wife and I were a little rusty but our guide Caesar was just so great, he helped us so much on improving our casting and we learned so much. We never had a no fish day, the wife hooked into what looked to be about an 80 lb 5' Tarpon ( my wife is 5'2" and 110 lb) fought it for about 30 min and 10 feet from the boat it jumped one last time and was gone....but my wife was so excited it mad her day ....We landed Bone fish well over 10 landed one 45 lb Tarpon and saw Permits but that was it haha...landed a bunch of reef fish as well. Well our trip was way to short .....really have no Cons to say, I thought the cost of the trip and what you get for the money was a very good bargain...but that's me ......we are already looking forward to our Longer return trip... This is a sprawling fishing Lodge that accommodates 75 people. There are 3 pools, a busy bar, a dining hall, a pro-shop, etc. It sounds terrific, right? Be advised that the boats are completely open to allow fly rods and casting. But there is not a speck of shade for a full day on the water. The sun is brutal. The Guides are all out sourced and are hit and miss. Some of the fishing equipment should be retired or may have already been. You will also be charged for your Jigs and Lures. Get one wet and you own it. The accounting system with that is loose and inconsistent. Keep a close watch. The Bar/Restaurant Staff are great. All eager as puppies they are genuinely happy to make you happy. The food is family style and on a good day it rises to the level of MEH. Its' basically fuel. Breakfast is decent but lunch on the boats hovers between horrid to inedible. Dinner was well intentioned but consistently missed the mark. The rooms are comfortable. The beds (I stayed in 3 different rooms) were really nice. The water pressure was adequate in each room. However in 2 of the 3 rooms it was impossible to turn off the A/C. You could cure a Ham in there. Is this an intimate, charming Lodge? Nope. Not really, but then you came here to bag the Big 3 Bone Fish, Permit and Tarpon on a fly rod. Good luck with that. (The Tarpon are an hour and half away).
