El Pescador in Ambergris Caye, Belize
Combining picturesque tropical accommodations with unforgettable adventure, El Pescador is both a haven and a playground off the east coast of Belize. This family-run resort enjoys a secluded location on the beach at Ambergris Caye, where each of the freestanding luxury villas - as well as all guest rooms in the gracious, colonial-style lodge - face the sea. Savor the Caribbean's distinctive flavors with fresh local cuisine at the restaurant, then head to the bar to swap the day's stories over signature rum punch. Whether you are dreaming of active pursuits, water adventures, or just relaxing in a beachfront paradise, the experienced staff at El Pescador resort will help you have the perfect Belize vacation.
From trolling the local waters to casting in the tarpon flats, fishing is a highlight at this singular resort. When not on the hunt for bonefish or permit, you might explore the region's famed barrier reef with El Pescador's own master dive and snorkel instructors. Stroll to nearby San Pedro town for its lively dining scene, or take a jungle river cruise to a Mayan archaeological site. When it comes to unique pursuits, the opportunities at El Pescador are endless.

Reviews for El Pescador
My father and I were guests at El Pescador in mid September. We were greeted at the airport in Ambergis Caye and taken by boat to the resort. We enjoyed a cold Belekin while motoring through the mangroves out to the open water. Upon arrival at the resort we were warmly-welcomed by Ken, Anne and the rest of the staff (family). The accommodations are very nice and the surroundings are lush, tropical beauty. Each and every staffer introduced themselves by name and had committed our names to memory by the end of the first day. Each and every person at the resort is an excellent emissary for the property. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff. We fished 4 days with Gordy. Gordy is a 3rd generation guide and I highly recommend his services. He listens to the clients' desires and then directs/recommends based upon his professional opinions. He works very hard to get you (as an angler) whatever it is that you wish - be it a huge tarpon (I got one), tons of bonefish in the flats, or the elusive permit (he got us multiple shots at them too). The food and drink is high quality. You will enjoy Deley and Jackson's smiling faces at meal time and Mariano is always ready to make you whatever drink you desire (I suggest a Pain Killer). All in all, I cannot recommend this place and the people highly enough. I wish I could give it a 6 out of 5 rating.
I spent 5 nights at El Pescador in September 2017. The resort is beautiful. The staff is phenomenal. I do not fish so the staff arranged 3 snorkeling trips. The staff as well as the resort managers, Anne and Ken, were wonderful. Everyone was so friendly, welcoming, helpful, and kind. It was like going on vacation with your family. The food was out of this world-delicious, fresh, with ability to personalize menu. I cannot say enough about El Pescador and wish I was able to stay longer.

This was our second trip to Ambergris Caye and El Pescador. There's lots of good stuff to say: the staff is friendly, charming, and gracious; the fly fishing (if you're into that sort of thing) is fabulous; the guides are great; the rooms are exactly what's needed; the food is excellent; the bar is not far away; and San Pedro the town is worth a visit. The best part though? Hanging out and talking to the other guests. For four evenings at dinner and at the bar I got to hear great stories from great people. That's what El Pescador is built for.

We have just come back to El Pescador and has been an amazing experience. The place, the lodge, the staff, everything was perfect!!!! Was my first fishing trip to the sea and, without doubt we will come back next year. We take with us unforgettable memories.
Great visit to El Pescador. We took advantage of their 2 for 1 summer promotion and I can tell you there is no better value out here. The short review…GO! I have traveled extensively in the Caribbean and the water on the flats here is second to none. Ken and Esa run a top notch fishing program, complimentary casting lessons, they match your fishing guides to your experience and temperament. We wanted patient teaching guides as we were novice fly fisher people. Both Cesar and Jeo worked to improve our cast and help us find fish. We caught numerous bone and hit the elusive grand slam of tarpon, permit and bone on our second day out with Jeo. The longer version: The resort is clean, well maintained, comfortable beds and surprising water pressure for the islands! This is primarily a fishing lodge but there were several non-anglers during our trip and they all enjoyed the property. Note: While the water in front of the lodge is beautiful with the reef breaking about ½ mile out, the beach is filled with grass and swimming there is not great, although I did enjoy a daily dip off the dock. The pool is Oceanside and beautiful. We grabbed a golf cart one day and went to the other side of the island to a beautiful beach where we enjoyed grilled lobster and relaxed. The staff here is very good at helping you plan your days and providing directions. The all inclusive option includes transport from Belize city by Tropic Air, a scenic 20 minute flight. From the moment you grab your bag on Ambergris Cay someone from the El Pescador family is taking care of you, handing you a cold beer as they transfer you to their private boat for the 15 minute ride to the hotels dock where you are greeted personally by Ken and Ann, bags brought to your room and given a property tour. Casting lessons daily from 3-5. All food and Belizian beer and rum drinks included as well as waters, soda, coffee, no nickel and dimeing. Breakfast and lunch are ala carte off the menu, dinner is family style, talented chef, there was a night with lobster, another with stonecrab, another with grilled beef. Fish always available and the desserts were wonderful. Sides had a nice island influence and reflected local products. Everything including the tortillas are made on property. They will pack your lunch if you are fishing. Fishing is included and you can adjust the number of days you want to fish. We chose 2 and then added snorkeling and a beach day. The boats are perfect for fishing but no shade so come prepared, Some of the runs out to the fishing grounds are long but the time flys as the scenery is so beautiful. Granted we had perfect weather. All in all, a great trip.
