“ The best service tops perfection” We’ve had a lovely stay at The College Hotel. We really like what they have done to the rooms during the renovation. We like the light themes better than the previous dark ones. And the bed sleeps great: not too hard, not too soft, just super. And the double shower is great too. Was our stay perfect? No, it wasn’t: there was a small electricity problem that caused the lights in the lights in the bathroom to be not working in the morning. But the way the staff handled that in the best possible way. They owned it and aced it. With lovely, clear communication, supported by nice little cards, they fixed it, gave feedback and compensated us. And not just one person, they all did at all stations, weather Arif at reception, Irene with housekeeping, Robert the technical service guy, the breakfast staff, the proactive trainees, just everywhere and everyone. They all proved that besides doing the best job you can, striving for the best service always tops striving for perfection. Note: the room scent you can select at check in and the nice quiet atmosphere in the building create a nice calm vibe throughout the whole hotel. We highly recommend the College Hotel. It’s one of our favourite places to stay in Europe!

Very disappointing high tea at The College Hotel Amsterdam. For a five-star venue, the quality was surprisingly poor: basic sandwiches (quality level of a petrol station), heavy pastries that tasted defrosted, no fresh orange juice, and no choice of tea (Jasmin). Service was disorganized—the scones were forgotten, and even takeaway boxes were unavailable. We were 6 and paid 250 euros for a bad experience. Overall, it felt like a high-volume operation with little care for quality. Spend your money elsewhere.

Here it is February, 2026 and my husband and I still are wistful about our week at The College Hotel in October, 2025. After a very difficult flight over, we fell into our charming, wonderful room and slept for an uninterrupted 13 hours. (Good blackout curtains) My husband thought his iPhone was broken!! Tussled and tearing down the stairs, barely making breakfast, we were cared for and treated like family. Thus began the most enjoyable week of our lives. Wonderful location, charming hotel, wonderful staff. Thank you for our week in Amsterdam. We can't wait to return.

I was really impressed, with a very friendly check-in. The room was very nice, albeit slightly quirky with a couple of stairs to the bathroom which were a challenge during the night. The bar area, was small and the Bowman, Elvis was great. Food choices were very limited, which, as I will go on was perhaps something avoided a much worse review. The problem, was the service at breakfast. Appalling, is an understatement. Perhaps, the worst service I have ever been given. You’re shown to your table, the waiter runs off, and then you have to try and get someone’s attention. At the time, there was perhaps eight people for breakfast. Staff wise, counting the people that constantly walked backwards and forwards only focusing in front of them, perhaps 15 staff. It took, about 20 minutes for someone to come and ask what food I wanted, and that food turned up perhaps another 20 minutes later. It was simply poached eggs on toast, with the eggs being nearly cold but the whites still runny! I was not the only person that suffered this unique service. In summary, a great hotel if you just wanna sleep there.

The location is great and very convenient for getting around the city center. The staff members are all warm and kind. When we arrived, there was a temporary change to the reception that we were not informed about in advance, but the check-in process was still smooth and welcoming. The room we had was quite clean and spacious. However, due to the room type, they were unable to provide a rollaway bed. I had asked about this before arriving and was told they would let us know if it was possible, but we were only informed upon arrival. One small issue we couldn’t quite understand was the sensor light in the room, which would turn on constantly at night even without movement. Additionally, housekeeping procedures seemed inconsistent, sometimes our requested extra blanket was left in the room, while other times it was removed and we had to ask for it again. The à la carte breakfast was nice, although the waiting time was a bit long. The main issue for us was that the hotel bar was extremely loud at night and did not quiet down even after midnight. This is something to consider for those who wish to have a good night rest. Overall, I would say the stay was fairly good, though perhaps not the best value for money. The friendly staff were a major part of our positive impression.
