Cap Juluca

My wife and I just completed an 8 day stay at Cap Juluca and I have to say I am a little confused at some of the negative ratings that the resort received. We stayed in a luxury room that had an amazing view of the beach that was very nice, clean and more than enough room for us.We did not go to Anguilla to sit in our room. As everyone has stated the beach at Cap Juluca is amazing, one of the best, if not the best beach we have visited. We had two very comfortable beach chairs with an umbrella that was the perfect setting for enjoying the beach. We were situtated very close to a beachside bar and we able to get a drink anytime we wanted. The two beach concrierges that helped us, Terrence and Unalee, were both extremely friendly and checked on us regularly to see if we needed more water, a drink or a fresh cool towel. A buffet breakfast, at the onsite restaurant Blue,is provided and it was more than enough for us. They provided eggs, pancakes, fresh fruit, yogurt, etc. and any drink requested. Lunch is also served at Blue and there are many options available. Dinner options include two restaurants on site, Spice and Pimm's. Spice is more casual and Pimm's has more options. We enjoyed eating at both of them. We spent most of our nights going out into Anguilla and eating at local restaurants recommended by the staff and other locals. Blanchard's is a must for anyone visiting Anguilla. We also enjoyed our meals at E's Oven, Smoky's ( try the curry goat) and Tasty's. Anguilla is a very laid back place and Cap Juluca reflects that attitude. It is not a resort for someone who is looking for a lot of nightlife. It is for someone looking for a relaxing time. We will be heading back there.

We were nervous before we got there because some of the reviews on here were not very good. Could the tile floors be updated or there be nicer/newer furniture etc. - yes. Was it worth not having those things to have the amazing private and quiet beach- yes. The rooms were nice and clean and the bathroom was huge with a shower and large soaking tub. The view from our room was amazing and even better once down on the beach. The sand felt like cake mix it was so soft and white. The water is so turquoise that it looks like a pool. It was stunning. They let you borrow movies and books which was nice on the nights we just wanted to stay in. I saw some people complain about tea time but I thought it was great- the scones were sooo good! They bring you sorbet at 3pm on the beach which was also very good. We thought the free breakfast was good- I saw that others have complained about it but we thought it was fine. I have to say I didn't love the food at Spice- it was just okay for the $$ (dessert was good). They let you use mini catamarans, paddle boards, kayaks, floats etc which is nice. Almost everyone that worked there was extremely nice and helpful. The only thing we weren't prepared for was all the service charges that we got upon checkout- it seems ridiculous to get these on top of what you are already paying to stay there and all the additional tips we had already given. If you want to be able to walk out and use the best beach I have ever been to then stay at Cap Juluca for sure. ;)

This is our 3rd time at Cap Juluca. Once again we loved our vacation and the friendly staff and beautiful soft white sandy beach. Crystal clear waters. All accommodation has beachfront view and access at your door step at a very reasonable price. Look no further this is the place to stay. Very few people know if this gem in the Caribbean and so the beach is almost your own at times.

We (Two couples) went to Cap Juluca to celebrate a 14 year anniversary. We heard Cap Juluca was an upscale resort and it also appeared on the American Express Platinum Fine Resorts/Hotel recommendation list. I normally trust the Amex Platinum program but after this I am not sure if worth it. The Pictures of the resort looked good so we booked our trip. When we got there we drove up to the resort which was lack luster and quite frankly run down looking. We kept an open mind and proceeded to the front desk. We were welcomed by a lovely person and taken to our room. The room was clean but clearly not re done in many years and poorly kept. The whole resort actually looked run down and the people who worked there just seemed tired, almost like they knew they were working at a failing lifeless resort. We liked the beach there very much and the location and privacy of the beach is fantastic. It is unfortunate that such a lovely setting has a tired lifeless resort on it. Not a flower,no color just a plain tired dying resort. The food for lunch was very good but the restaurant at the beach was one of the most depressing restaurants on the beach I have ever been to. The pool was so rundown no one sat there. We also saw that half of the resort was closed which made it darker and duller. We found the four seasons only 10 minutes away and ended up leaving the resort nightly and having a wonderful evening there. If the place has a gut renovation added a few things like color/music/a bar/ then I would most likely recommend it but if you read this review they are at least 2-3 years away from that so I say go someplace else. As the resort sits right now I would recommend this to an older (75 and up) crowd that would like early good dinners/quite beach and sleep by 8. I am very disappointed that I have to write this type of review. I had all good intentions of loving it and having a great time. Although the food was good and the people worked hard and were nice that does not quite make it in todays times.

Wonderful boutique style hotel on an amazing beach! Everything about this place is amazing. We were pleasantly surprised to receive an upgraded room when we arrived. All of the staff are top notch! They all wanted to be sure our stay was amazing and it far exceeded our expectations. Would definitely return!
