Spa treatments feel even better after one of the scores of activity options at CuisinArt Resort & Spa. I recently visited the CuisinArt Resort, on Anguilla 🇦🇮 Island, from Feb 24-Mar 5, 2017. Here is my review of the resort, with a price point per night of $$$-$$$$. We arrived at the ferry terminal, on Anguilla 🇦🇮, post a quick 20min speed boat trip from the island of St. Martin/Maarten, where we had flown into. After clearing customs, for both islands, we were greeted by our driver "Gee". He was very pleasurable! Providing us great tips, regarding dining options off the resort, for local atmosphere and food. We arrived at the CuisinArt Resort, which is in a great location, excited for vacation to begin! As we stepped out of the vehicle, it was apparent CuisinArt has wonderful eye appeal. The resort has beautiful grounds, a powdery, sugar white sandy beachfront and abounding Caribbean blue water, with a view of the hills/mountains of St. Martin/Maarten, as a backdrop. Unfortunately, our initial interaction with the resort staff, was by a "less than happy" front deck attendant. She escorted us to a nicely decorated, open air lounge/waiting area, for us to sit, during our check-in process. The attendant then asked for my credit card and walked off. I know they need a credit card on file for room charges... but please, enter my credit card information in front of me! Our overall experience with the staff left us with a noticeably lacking promptness regarding customer service. Some of the employees were really quite excellent/attentive, while others gave us the impression, we were inconveniencing them. We were then escorted to our 3rd floor suite. The attendant pointed out the resort's amenities along the way. We were given 3 keys, on medium sized keyring holders, to keep up with for the duration of our 10 day stay. (Big, big pain to not have key cards!) A quick check around the room revealed a few problems: 1. The room did not appear completely clean. Dirty floors, drop ceilings, surface dust, along with dust and hair in both bathrooms. 2. The king size bedding, not only had stains on the comforter, but came along with a free, long brunette hair. I am a Blonde. 3. The bright blue round rugs in our suite appeared to have not been vacuumed, prior to our arrival. The main rug in our living space had multiple large, dark stains on it. I immediately called the front desk to inform them of the problems. They advised housekeeping would be coming to address the issues. Once housekeeping arrived, my husband and I set out to explore the resort. Again, the grounds of the hotel are just beautiful! The resort has soothing water features in various places throughout the property. The landscaping consisted of native flowers, bushes, trees and bountiful bougainvillea vines, in a variety of colors. All of which makes great floral and landscape photography😀. After a quick self tour, my husband and I being tired and hungry travelers, attempted to find food at around 6:15pm. We quickly discovered that none of the restaurants on the resort began serving food until 7pm😳. Therefore, we resided ourselves to cocktails by the pool and bar area until Tokyo Bay opened. Tokyo Bay is the Sushi and Hibachi grill restaurant located on the resort. (I will be reviewing the onsite restaurants separately) After a delicious dinner, my husband and I strolled back to our room ready for bed. Once back in the suite, I realized that only the bedding situation, previously described, had been addressed. The room remained dirty. I decided, due to the lateness of the evening, I would wait until morning to personally address the remaining room issues. The next day I woke up around 6am to go for a barefoot beach run. The morning was quiet. There were very few people on the beach, so it made my run and photography moments optimal. Upon returning to the room, my husband now awake, we made our way to breakfast at Cafe Med. This restaurant, located by the pool, offers a choice of buffet style breakfast or ordering directly from the menu. We chose to order omelettes from the menu. No matter which day we had breakfast there, our omelettes were over cooked, arriving to our table brown and on the greasy side. The omelettes were always served with whole fingerling potatoes and a lightly roasted tomato, grown on the resort. The tomato was delicious, but I quickly became tired of the same style of potatoes. (Ironically, the room service omelettes always arrived perfectly cooked). I would probably advise your server at Cafe Med to pass along a "do not over cook my omelette" request. After, breakfast, I went to address the remaining problems pertaining to our room. I expressed my disappointment with the check-in experience and process. The concierge was very gracious and quick to apologize. She promised to have our room cleaned top to bottom, as soon as we called to say we were departing for our planned beach day. She assured me the dirty rugs would be removed. Just as she promised, the room was cleaned and actually smelled clean, when we returned; which was very refreshing! The rest of our vacation was spent at the beach, pool or spa. Only a few remarks about the beach... the majority of the umbrellas really need replacing, as many of them were broken. The beach attendants service was hit or miss depending on who was working each day. Also be sure to order your next cocktail in advance or that cocktail may never arrive. At the pool you definitely experienced better service and the Venus Spa was absolutely wonderful!!!! I could go on and on about how nice and attentive everyone at the spa was; especially Catherine, the Spa Manager! She definitely took extra measures to ensure you were not only accommodated but you were satisfied with the spa services you received. On our final evening, my husband and I found ourselves again by the pool for cocktails discussing our overall impression of the resort. What it really came down to was... The CuisinArt is a truly wonderful Resort. I believe it has previously seen better days considering the price per night you pay. The time and energy being spent on building the new "Reef Residence" Resort definitely takes away from the energy and customer service, one would expect of the respected CuisinArt Resort. With a fresh coat of paint, guidance and customer service training for employees, I believe the CuisinArt could again be that quaint, boutique hotel, on Anguilla's premium beachfront, that all of us dream about vacationing at.

We are a family of 3 who visited in March 2017 for 1 week. This is a relatively undiscovered piece of paradise in The Caribbean. The first floor junior suite on the beach was perfect for morning walks on the beach, and trips back to the room during the day to cool off. The positives: 1. Friendly staff who knows your name. Staff best in Caribbean we have ever seen. 2. Loads of activities. Played tennis on grass courts, sailed Hobie cat, rented bikes, played bocci, toured hydroponic farm. 3. Delightful infinity pool that is the perfect temperature. 4. Best walking beach we have ever seen. Beach often deserted. 5. Excellent breakfasts and lunches at Cafe Med that included fresh vegetables and fruits. Negatives: 1. Wind in March often too stiff for sailing (20 knots), so water sports not always available daily. 2. Top gourmet restaurants on island not walking distance, so need to take cabs frequently to dine. Overall, a great choice if you want peaceful relaxation on one of the finest beaches in the Caribbean.

This our 4th year here. It has always been a well-located and attractive resort hotel. But, as time goes by it's feeling a little wear...nothing extreme or bothersome but noticeable in some small ways. Some of that may have to do with the recent opening of its neighboring new sister property The Reefs. That's a large very modern and sleek hotel and residences site down the beach a bit from Cuisinart. The investment in that property must have been very large. So, I suspect freshening up the Cuisinart will occur soon. In any case, what really stands out for us--the more often we visit, is that the staff at Cuisinart is quite exceptional. Employees at every level are smart, diligent and are on a mission to accommodate guests needs and requests. There's no "that's not my job" here. Every employee seems empowered to focus on the guest to the extent required. As an old Human Resources corporate exec I have an eye for and appreciation of excellence in staffing. This place has IT, and both staff and management should take pride in that. In any case, we'll be back next year.

Small resort with breathtaking beach, sand so soft it feels like flour under your feet. Nice clean rooms with great views, friendly staff and nice spa. But most important... THE FOOD WAS INCREDIBLE!!! 6 days at the resort and never had one meal that wasn't spectacular. Tried every restaurant. Every meal, down to the smallest snack was a culinary experience. Many vegetables are grown at the resort and the tomatoes were the sweetest I've ever eaten. If you love the Caribbean and have a passion for great food then CuisinArt is a must to try.

I can not say enough about this lovely resort. The beach is to die for. My morning walks (where you can walk an hour and only see 3 or 4 smiling faces) is a favorite grounding time each day. The pool is beautiful, and the food is amazing throughout. Now you also get signing rights at the sister resort The Reef so it is like 2 hotels for one. Cuisinart is traditional where The Reef is edgier (younger and hipper)... but both are amazing. We love the one bedroom suites on the top floor as they have a private living room and multiple balconies (one with outdoor shower and total privacy). Do not miss an afternoon at Garveys -- reggae and ribs -- and a visit to Banky Banks next door. So much to do. I highly suggest our driver Sheraul at Maurice & Son's Exquisite Taxi & Tours Services & Car Rental Services (Anguilla). He is super safe and always punctual --good prices too.
