As a Marriott loyalist it is always nice to stay at some of their premiere properties. We've stayed here a few times and just this week we decided on short notice to get away for a little spring break trip. The bell men, Geoff. Mickey and David are all world class guys with a true passion for service. Great valet and great shuttle service when available. Check in staff was great in spite of the systems being down, and no issues with check out. the lobby bar is nice albeit small. Carmen was a treat as our cocktail waitress on Wednesday night. The young lady on Thursday had some challenges with just about everything and wasn't the level of professionalism I would have expected given the other employees exemplary service. We had free continental breakfast each morning which was average but you could upgrade it for a few dollars to include eggs and bacon, but the service was very slow, it took close to 20-30 minutes just to produce a continental breakfast. Without a doubt the best part of the stay are the rooms. They are really well appointed, we had room 8 in the manor house which didn't have much of a view but was super quiet. It did need a comfortable chair to sit in which was missed. But the bed is to die for, super comfortable with the in room central air which was super quiet made for a very peaceful slumber. Overall I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for an upscale get away. Close enough yet fay away from the noise of downtown.

Hotel reportedly fashioned as a Bohemian hunting lodge. Has lot of arts display in the hallways / rooms. Although the Hotel is billed as Marriot's Autograph Collection Property (is physically above average), but overall service and delivery of great customer service experience is in very early stages - real "work in Progress" and has a long way to go (as compared to similar category properties: Ritz Carlton, Fairmont and Starwood's Luxury Collection Hotels. Found staff to be very friendly and helpful but need lot of training in the finer aspects of a high end hotel!!!

We only stayed one night but what a treat. The room was neat, clean, and comfortable. The staff is courteous and helpful and willing to accommodate wishes and needs. We had breakfast and it was delicious. In Asheville? A must stay.

Very well kept hotel. Interesting artwork and antiques are a big part of the decor. Walking distance to The Biltmore, restaurants, shopping and galleries. The staff was top notch. We visit Asheville frequently and will stay here again, for sure.

From the second we arrived, the valets were both knowledgable and responsive. We entered the lobby and were offered champagne while we waited all of 4 minutes to check in. The front desk was always staffed for whatever info we needed for restaurants or local visits and helped making arrangements. The inhouse restaurant staff at the Red Stagg was courteous and helpful. We didn't eat dinner there but the appetizers were good, drinks were great and the live music in the evening was a nice touch. The rooms had glass doors and custom doors that opened between the bathroom and bedroom that made the room feel bigger than it was. It appears the staff made 2 room visits a day to make up the bed and then again to replace towels and turn the be down. The Fitness center was more than adequate , it always had water and fresh fruit even thought there was hardly anyone in there. The car was available quickly, the location was convenient to everything(Biltmore, Downtown, Chimney Rock &Lake Lure) and we'd go back in a minute.
