Awesome stay

Awesome stay. From the first minute to the last very much enjoyed our stay in Athens and at this hotel. The reception team greeted us very warmly and helped us in making plans for our stay. We were even greeted upon arrival with a drink and they upgraded our room. I used the gym a few times and my friend used the spa facilities all which are excellent. I recommend this place for anybody thinking about visiting Athens. Thank you for your hospitality and sharing your amazing city with us.

Amazing Athens

Great stay. Loved the neighborhood-restaurants close by but not super touristy. Christos at the Front Desk took extra good care of us. We booked tours to Delphi and Acropolis through the hotel and everything was extremely well organized and took all the stress out of the trip. Room was very comfortable and air conditioner worked very well. I will definitely be back on my next trip to Athens.

Don't stay there!

If you want to be transported back to 1970s shoddy hotels, this is the place for you. There certainly is nothing 5-star about Divani Caravel: not the efficiency or curtesy of the reception desk, not the slapdash room design and layout, not the facilities. One exception is the lobby restaurant. Very nice staff and decent menu.

Try the restaurant on the top floor; you won't be dissapointed.

Was not expecting much from this hotel when I booked it but that was a mistake. This hotel turns out to be really rather good. The rooms and well appointed, comfortable and clean. The staff are welcoming, friendly and polite. On the top floor is a restaurant which was excellent and a pool which was nice enough but is not heated so best to go when the temperature is high.

A 5* Stay - Would Definitely Recommend..

I have just returned from this hotel with my partner and had a lovely time. As a travel agent I would definitely recommend this hotel to all of my customers when staying in Athens. Our first impressions were that the staff are all very friendly and eager to help. We were given welcome drinks, a complimentary upgrade and they gave us a call when we'd settled in to check that everything was perfect for us and to let them know if we need anything during our stay. The room was spotless and the views were amazing, we couldn't fault anything at all. The AC was very cool as well. We just wish there were some more TV channels as there are only a couple of English ones, one being the news, and the other a channel that repeats the same show all day everyday. Not a massive deal though to us, perhaps download some stuff on the phone next time. The housekeeper was very efficient and changed our towels, toiletries, folded our clothes, etc every day - even sometimes between us coming back then popping out again for dinner and we'd come back to our bed being made up again, fresh towels and mineral water which was really lovely and gives it that 5 star touch. We ordered room service breakfast one day and it was all very well done and efficient. Just simply tick what you want and leave it outside your door that night and they bring it to you at the exact time you want. They were prompt with their delivery and the food was lovely. They accidentally missed our fruit plate on our continental breakfast, which was very swiftly resolved by them after a quick phone call, so I was very impressed by how it was rectified. The location is quite good, only a few minutes walk to the metro and then 1 or 2 stops to the main attractions in Athens such as the Acropolis. The hotel are also very helpful with taxis etc if you need them. Overall, if I came back to Athens I would without a doubt stay in this hotel again. Everything from the service to the food to the room was perfect.

During our vacation to Greece, much of which was booked through Luxury Link, we spent two nights at the Divani Caravel Hotel in Athens, Greece. Let me begin by saying that if you're looking for quaint, small, boutique, or dainty, the Divani will not, in any way, meet your needs. The Divani Caravel is an old school, in your face, mammoth construct reminiscent of Cold War era Russian buildings, but it has a special kind of charm nevertheless.

First off, the rooftop pool with a direct line of sight to the Acropolis is one of those experiences that will bring a smile to your face every time you remember it. The view was stunning, the weather was perfect, and the mojito we asked our bartender to make was exceptionally well prepared.

The suites we received were on the top floor of the hotel, and balconies opened up to arguably the best view of the Acropolis in all of Athens. It was stunning. Usually my wife is talkative, but as we sat on our balcony sipping some very respectable complimentary wine and watching the sun set behind the Acropolis, we were both silent, caught up in the beauty of it all.

The view alone makes the packages more than worth it, and if you happen to be into photography, bring a tripod, and go nuts with the long exposure night shots. I got some seriously gorgeous pictures, some of which I could readily print on canvas and sell, and no one would ever believe I went no further than the balcony of my hotel room.

The rooms are spacious, more like a one bedroom apartment sans kitchen than a conventional hotel room, and the suite we stayed in boasted of none other than Mikhail Gorbachev having slept there.

As ought to be the case with any five star properties the service was impeccable. Even with the strain of the recent turmoil, protests, and economic uncertainty, the entire staff from the desk clerk to the cleaning crew to the servers, were professional, polite, and seemed genuinely happy to be there.

Breakfast at the Divani Caravel is an experience. The buffet is better than most we had while traveling Europe, but the attention to detail is what sets them apart from other hotels. What we later concluded must have been the floor manager was efficient, and appropriately authoritative with her subordinates, so that everything from coffee to champagne to fresh rolls was no more than a nod away.

At a certain point in life I guess you come to appreciate cleanliness and efficiency with almost equal enthusiasm as you would taste and presentation, but thankfully the Divani lacked nothing in those areas either.

Yes, the entrance is imposing. It looks like you're going in to the Politburo of the old USSR to give a deposition or file a complaint, but once you get past the sheer mass of the Divani Caravel its charm is undeniable. Who said big things can't be beautiful?
