Travaasa Austin in Austin, Texas

Travaasa Austin may be only 30 minutes from the capital, but in Hill Country it's a different world completely. Come to Travaasa – which derives its name from travel and pravaasa, the Sanskrit word for "memorable journey" – for self-discovery and for meaningful, authentic experiences with Texans who want to share their beloved countryside. Come to feel the wind in your hair while hiking through a field of bluebells, to become one with your breath in a grove of anacua trees, and to Texas Two-Step under the stars.

Heal your soul with the spa's essential oils and plant-based treatments. Dig into a plate of French toast made from agave-sweetened polenta and cabernet cranberries. As the sun bakes the rugged hills, take a hike with an ecologist through shaded trails to Lake Travis, learning about the area's flora and fauna. Strike up a bond with a Palomino filly, taking her for a gentle ride as chickens scurry through the fields of the organic farm. Cuddle up by the fire pit with a bottle of wine.

We spent 3 nights and it wasn't long enough! The endless activities, super nice staff and lovely trails/grounds made it hard to leave. Expect to pay resort prices for meals (totally worth it) and drinks. In fact, I was charged $33 for a double shot patron silver margarita! I hope the upcoming renovations keep the rustic charm and do not make the property overly populated.

I loved the idea of an experiential resort, love their commitment to be eco-friendly, and their was an air of coolness around even on a super-hot summer day. I want them to keep getting better at what they do.

I got a gift certificate to Travaasa for my birthday and finally got around to booking the trip. I was super excited and many of the things I'd wanted to do I got to do. To dive right in: the grounds of the resort are lovely. The views are expansive and the pool is delightful. It's a compact resort which makes everything fairly convenient to access. And the rooms are well appointed and have lots of natural light. In brief it's a beautiful getaway if more than a bit overpriced. The adventures are fun and fitness courses have excellent instructors. I highly recommend the giant swing for a thrill! After reading reviews from other guests here on tripadvisor I expected to eat well. I was disappointed in the food overall. With the exception of a fresh salad with blackberries and a pound cake, the food was very meh. Not inedible (except for a duck sandwich that was kind of inedible) but really not even good. The resort closes at the end of the month for renovations and a rebrand, so I guess there's not much point to working on improving anything meaningfully before becoming a Miraval. But in case you're going in the next couple of weeks... bring snacks.

Great place to just get away and both relax and be adventurous. The entire staff is nice and makes you feel important. All the meals are great. Breakfast and lunch are not to be missed including the fresh catch wrap of the day and the pancakes. Spa was fantastic as we each got 2 services during our stay. I recommend booking the Total Travassa package that is all-inclusive. A little pricey but worth it! Closing for construction in September so not sure how it will all affect the resort when it re-opens in the summer of next year... Overall, great stay and much thanks to the awesome staff!!

We just had a baby.. he's 6 months old and we haven't been out alone for a bit. My husband made sure to book a Resort that offered great views and peaceful downtime. I will honestly say it's a bit pricey. YES, the property is beautiful but I think the restaurants as well as other amenities shouldn't be as high priced as they are an "amenity" something the resort offers in return for paying for a high priced room. otherwise I'm sorry Travaasa you'll find you're restaurants empty with people going elsewhere to enjoy their time which; is a BIG NO NO. If people are leaving at nights and ur restaurants are empty that's a red flag for improvement!! Wouldn't doubt the change of management soon. That's my option though.. we've traveled many places and this is a great spot... but with the small pool and high priced amenities I'm sorry... will be a hot spot only for some time..
